  • Nenhuma Odile é tão assustadora quanto a da Polina Semionova

  • polina is the perfect odile! IMO :)

  • I like Gillian Murphy's version better. Polina is too agressive. I simply prefer Gillian's elegant, yet powerful performance.

  • so perfect..so black !

  • Does she need more passion? I´m sorry for my bad english

  • ATTACK IT ATTACK IT

  • BEEN watching ballet from 1:00~6:31 AM and im convinced that my boyfriend was right i should try it!!!! xD

  • wow she is so fuckn' fast its amazing !!!

  • @DancerForever1205 That is a strange comparison, because Natalie Portman is not a professional ballet dancer.

  • @1CasuConsulto Could be because some film/NP fans STILL post elsewhere to talk up Portman's advanced ballet skills, acquired in 1-tenth the time (aged almost 30) it takes mere mortals like Polina, Murphy, Nunez etc. We disagree with them at our peril! I think Polina forces some steps a tad in this performance; have seen her much better than this, which is still pretty amazing!

  • @1CasuConsulto she was when she was younger

  • @TheAn6y As far as I've heard, she had training until she was 13, hardly the level of a professional prima ballerina. (meaning no disrespect to Natalie, of course, I adore her, just I think it is unwise to compare two totally different professions)

  • @1CasuConsulto i totally agree with you :) and Natalie is a great actress

  • ela é muiito liinda!

  • she killed that dance when i say this i mean she attacked it

  • I got chills. Best black swan I've seen.

  • YES! Finally a truly fabulous performance of Odile. I've been looking for a good one and this was does not disappoint. Awesome!

  • wish I could dance like that, haha.

  • someone please take natalie's academy award and give it to polina

  • What is the name of the song?

  • does anyone know the name of the song at the beggining?

  • I love Polina and I love this variation!! AMAZINGGGG.

  • Love polina, she's like WHAAM!!

  • Graceful yet impactful.

  • I like this interpertation best. It is more seductive and cunning than most like how it should be. It highlights the evident differences between her and Odette.

But does anyone else think the Prince is an idiot? XD

  • Jealus!

  • incrfuckinedibbllee

  • She just attacks it! I love her!! She embodies Odile!

  • much better as a slow dancer

  • Polina La Divina!!!!

  • Bajka !!! Rosyjski balet jest najlepszy pisze z krakowa

  • She is the best!! But that tutu is HUGE....

  • Evil! Just how it should be :D

  • absolutely spellbinding !!! thats what I call ATTACK !! .....would love to see her whole performance !!!!

  • It is the best Odile I've even seen. It is even much better than Zakharova's Odile.

  • Do you know what the second piece of music called?

  • The tutu comment cracked me up. Too true. That tutu is out of hand, hahaha.

  • I like Odile much more tha Odette.

And her dance gives off that warning, that agressiveness, like Munchikenxx said.

  • how...can...anyone...be...so...perfect?

  • Her arch is beautiful.

    Her ballet is flawless. <3

  • I LOVE THIS!!

But how come I have never seen the variation at the begginning of the vid? Ive watch Swan Lake before, but never saw that... it was beautiful though!!

  • there are 2 versions

the one that mariinsky does is different from bolshoi

  • does anyone know where i can get the dvd for this performance? i tried amazon but can't find it. other performances by polia would be great too. thanks in advance! please provide a link.

  • polina and svetlana are my fav dancers!!! ther each diff in thir own way

  • Awesome. But seriously, russian ballet people, control your tutus! They can get just a tat to big sometimes.

  • Her odile is devastating <3 Very strong and seemingly dark, yet still elegant!

    I love her arabesque, too!

  • i like this black swan solo a lot more than the other one. this one has more of an evil feel to it while the other one is slow and pretty.....

  • she's the best in swan lake

  • Beautifull i love it!!!

  • From an audience's point of view (I don't do ballet and probably never will lol) I think she's the best Odile because her solo is very powerful and agressive, rather than giving off an air of elegant, gentle beauty like some of the others do.

Just seems like the right feeling to get from the daughter of an evil magician lol.

  • @Munchikenxx I love how we have to almost apologise for just being an audience !!...like ballet was something meant for only other dancers to watch....but I as another audience member...agree with you !!

  • @Royalbrettania Ha ha you're right! I always say "I don't know much about ballet but this is what I sort of think"... Ballet would die out if only experts and dancers cared, right?

  • @silversmith8 I think after one has watched enough ballet and read up a bit about it one can pass quite worthy comments.....and its the audience that buys the tickets or the dvd's at the end of the day.....so I think our opinion counts for a lot

  • @Munchikenxx Odile's supposed to be powerful and aggressive. She's Odette's evil twin, who tricks and seduces her Prince. Odette's beautiful, innocent and fragile. I think both are fascinating to watch.

  • @Munchikenxx Watch Svetlana Zakharova's interpretation! She has that bitchy look when she dances it too :)

  • @Munchikenxx the black swan is meant to enchant the prince as well as the audience, in my opinion this is not what she is doing with 'powerfull and agressive' .. she is overdoing it, and is not flirty at all

  • @estahOflestah The black swan is meant to seduce and ensorcel the prince and audience, dazzling them with her superiority and talent, and acting the territorial swan by being aggressive, all while looking gorgeous and perhaps slightly evil. All that polina is in this performance.

  • @estahOflestah watch?v=A_A5KTEC6Zg this one's also polina. and she's much better in this one. seducing and evil

  • strong legs ... nice :D

  • splendide black swan

  • I much prefer this Odile variation to the other, but I do not like this version of the coda - the hops back in arabesque are much more powerful than the pique turns.

  • Do you have any idea where I can find a video from this variation of Odile or do you know who else dance this variaton, because it's my favorite, but almost nobody play it

  • which company did she dance with in this video?

  • The Bolshoi.

  • Had she danced with Bolshoi before she went to Berlin?

  • No, she didn't. From ballet academy she went straight to Berlin as principal.

  • Comment removed

  • polina is amazing she has the significative ballerina long legs she has an amazing bodytype shes skinny but that doesn't matter u can be an amaziing dancer doesnt matter how ur body is.

  • She has such a great reach on her piques! I can't get enough of her!

  • è perfetta

  • are there two odile variations?

because there is this one, and then there is the one svetlana zakharova did...

  • Polina did Odile's solo and coda

  • This solo is Grigorovich's solo. There is another, more common one danced at companies like ABT and the Mariinsky, choreographed by Petipa, as far as I know.

  • the music is so rockin in the first variation. really gives the feeling of evil that odile has. =D

  • what? she has a beautiful body! she has a perfect body and she is an incredible dancer!

  • she is brilliant as odile as she is sooooo fierce and has great energy and attack

  • what on earth do you mean, she has a beautiful body.....that makes no sense she has both a good body and passion

  • her posses' r beutiful!!

  • 1 GG SPERO DI DIVENTARE CM TE

  • yes she might does not have a graceful bodytype as other dancers, but she dances with passion you can see that. i never saw anyone dances with so much passion like her.

  • Oh polina is so sweet and passionate dancer, you never gets tired watching her! ;D

  • well i guess it's all right then. But i still prefer the original ballet.

  • she's nice but what about the legendery 32 fouettes that are usually made on that music?

  • HAHAHA funny I am one, wy dont people want to learn these days? if i was doing bad id want to know.

  • Then why arent YOU famous like her if you think your so good huh? i mean come on, polina is one of the best ballerinas in the world..all you could do is drool!

  • yeah who are u anyway? some stupid guy behind his computer thinking he's the best? u'd better shut up.

  • piximarie3, umm.. rude much?? LETS SEE YOU DO IT!

ughh. dont be correcting a professional dancer.

  • I'd like to see you do a better job!!!

  • Lets see. She's a beast! So freakin strong.

  • she was aurora in calbals sleeping beauty!

  • really? i dont think she seemed heavy. to me it seemed as her character was vry prominent and she was giving it that feel

  • yes, I agree, her way of making the difference between Odette and odile.

  • where can i get a video of this production? i love it!!

  • she has a little of the trockadero girls? She is everywhere but not centered? Actually is her lack of musicality? Yes, that is lacking.

  • she really is beautiful.

but I feel she made herself look 20 lbs heavier by dancing the way she did (not saying she looked fat, but her dancing, labored).

She projected downward which makes dancing look heavy. Maybe she needs to use plie more?

Cause even when the guy lifts her he looked labored like she was heavy because she didnt plie enough.

  • She's really great, and she's acting like a slut (in character), which makes it seem beleivable.

  • what is the first dance she does what is it called??? its beautiful!!

  • yes polina is AMAZIN and yes her arms do need improvement in her turns bt alot of dancers do bt her arms compliment the character in every way she is ment 2 b evil tryin 2 mak the prince fall in love with her not odette!! shes always been able 2 play each character perfect n able 2 make her body language fit the character so her arms (apart from in turns!) r brill!! complimenting the evil n spark perfect!

  • Elle est magnifiqueeeee!!!! je la trouve exeptionnelle c'est pr ça que c'est ma danseuse préférée!!!!!!! <3

  • she doesnt have the perfect arms but on the other hand she s not bad at all .. nearly perfect .. and the way she uses her arms is a style of dancing .. every ballerina has her own style .. i see that u r only critizing bec you r jealous from her ( and i cant deny that am also jealous :) ) she s amaziiinnnggggggggggggggg

  • I think that she is very beautiful and graceful. Anyone who does ballet knows that you have to be an actress, also. You must think about who she is trying to be at this moment. She is trying to be someone who is beautiful but not as beautiful as Odete. That is probably why you saw some imperfections in her arms at this particular time.

    =) Beautiful.

  • I think her arms need improvement, yes. But not for the reasons you said. Every single ballerina needs to improve their habilities.

Her arms are in alongé all the time because it is the arms used to do a better swan with longer and soft wings. And her first position is great. This is the first position of Vaganova method to improve the turnout and hold better de balancé.

  • I don't see anything wrong with arms. She used them well because in Swan Lake, your arms have to move as if they were wings of a bird. :D

She's lovely. Not many dancers can dance like her. She's awesome!!! :D <3

  • I think that her arms complimented her style. It's a different way to be using your arms in ballet, but it doesn't look "bad." Good job. =]

  • WONDERFUL! FULL OF LIFE! I dindt see any problems with her arms. She is the wild Odile.

  • If you think she's bad lets see you try it.

  • I think polina looks great, she is very young odette/odile takes time. You can't compare her to Fonteyn. Fonteyn was in her 40s when people saw her and the british and russian styles are way different too. Besides Polina, is long limbed torso, arms and legs. Thats a lot of body im 6'3" I know how hard it is!!!

  • gee... sure wish i could learn ballet...

  • her arms are out of control

  • I don't really like her por de bra. I think it might be the flingy-ness of it, or perhaps her arms...

  • especially in the pique turns

  • I think that the best part of the dance is missing! Great performance but not complete.

  • i tot she could haf done so much better. when she did her pirouettes she didn really hold her first position properly and when the male dancer carried her she was a bit unsteady

  • wow well its easy for everyone to criticize. so maybe it wasnt her best performance but she's still amazing. besides, odile is supposed to be a little more wild.

  • i double ilovemyhappytrail's comment

  • margot was beautiful in the simple way.

polina is like, oh my god i want so badly to have those extensions and that turnout.

  • the best was margot fonteyn!!

  • Wow she's good!

  • "good" is such a vacuous word; let me rephrase it, she is the most beautiful breathtaking magnificient dancer on this planet. : )

  • lol. Not sure I would go that far, but, yeah, shes way better then "good" - how old is she?

  • WOW, quite a compliment! is there such a ballerina who is the most beautiful, breathtaking, outstanding, magnificient, elegant dancer in this planet???? A great dancer ALWAYS has room for improvement, Polina would agree with me.
