Great overview and informative. As a suggestion, you may want to cover manual setups such as when you do not want to use imap with gmail. I have a Windows cell phone in addition to a home computer and laptop. With Outlook 2007 I want the email to be downloaded to all three which requires the use of POP3 and the insertion of recent in the POP3 address so that the email stays on the Google servers as well as downloads to all devices. Again, good job.

Part 3: The ONLY thing that's better in TB 3 is the account-creation! It's more user-friendly! Though not enough for me to use Thunderbird 3! Of course Thunderbird 3 is freeware and there sure is some hard work behind it, but -.- There are so many good addons for Thunderbird that should be implemented in the first place! You should clearly learn a lesson from them! For example: - Contacts Sidebar - Display Mail User Agent - Quote Colors - Signature Switch - Xnote

And if you do, don't make it worse than it was before!
How bad, I just got tired of waiting for this, I have been using version 2 for about 2 years.
But anyways, I do prefer Ms Outlook over this, especially if you can get it for a very special price :)
Thank you for the review. I to download all the emails, at least it doesn't cost much to keep them in your HDD, in my case I had to download a lot from the web because my Gmail was already about full - I didn't want to pay for more space-

Thunderbird 3 has no noteworthy innovations for users, that aren't tab-browsing-fanatics!
Better search-funcion?
Never had problems with the old one, small, functional, perfect! No Need for improvements!
Tabbed-emails?
"Most users" read Emails in that frame in the right down corner!
It's a good option to have tabs, but no important improvement!
