Thanks for posting this. Jon Paris is not only bass - he is a guitarist also. I think primarily guitar. Played a lot in New York. if you search for "Johnny Winter Rockabilly Boogie" you can see Johnny playing bass while Jon plays guitar
I agree. I am a bass player and a harmonica player. There is now way that I could do both at the same time. And, I am a long time fan of Johnny Winter from his days at the Celler in Houston. Best wishes, Johnny.
Wow , this is a great version of a great song. This is may be my favorite line up of musicians Johnny has played with. Mostly because of the awesome Jon Paris on bass and harmonica. Johnny's kick ass take on the blues with a harmonica wailing. This was on the "Nuthin' But The Blues" release. Fantastic record from start to finish. They played Dallas on the tour to support the album. They were so unbelievably fantastic we drove about 300 miles to catch them the next night in Tulsa Oklahoma

I guess my favourite version of this '56 gem is by Canned Heat (just for the harmonica), but this version absolutely ROCKS. Astounding! What albums was the studio version originally on...was it with Johnny Winter And?
I saw Johnny back in the early 80's at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver and he had the same band and for a song or 2 the bass player and Johnny both played the harmonica and were trading off licks. It was a great show!
This is extremely dynamic Johnny Winter and group. The studio version however has Johnny playing tracked guitars, standard and slide, making it unbelievably kick ass.
One of my favorite songs, by Jimmy Rogers, because I've lived it time after time. Jimmy Rogers rendition and Johnny Winter's rendition, both excellent in their own right. A timeless masterpiece of music. Wish I could find a a clear audible recording on here by Jimmy.
Johnny has more riffs than gallons of water in the ocean.
