  • I was listening to the studio version in the car today. It was very disappointing after hearing this version.

  • IV been looking for this song for 7 years not even joking omfg i found it today!

  • i love YOU GERRY.......!!!!!

  • Dressing room backstage passes for the 2 @ 2:41

  • RIP

  • Not as soulful as the studio version.... still sick though

  • too fast guys

  • thank you for posting this...great tune.

  • What happened to the black bass player?

  • oooooh...Gerry's turning me on here.

  • The 70's was a great time to grow up, great music and great memories! I like the fast version better.

  • hola karl kirk ese es el nombre del vocalista, ahora esta algo subidito de peso

  • The happy clapper at the beginning is uber-enthusiastic!

  • Seems something wrong with this. Too fast.

  • I wish I had been alive for this concert. Young people miss out so much. :/

  • too fast

  • Wow, they are racing through it here! Still sounds great.

  • I love this song, I heard it here and there but could never understand the lyrics at first. Good Band too.

The only downside, and this is for all concerts that I've noticed. The bands are awesome but they just play a bit too fast. I understand they are pumped and not playing to a studio set speed but in my opinion the added speed sometimes just kills the enjoyment of the song. That's just me though.

  • This kind of music sucks :-( I'm glad I'm in the Justin Bieber generation :-)

  • @bluestucco Cause your an idiot period. I'm glad your in that era as well. If we had to rely on this age to make good music, well Justin Bieber enough said.

  • @cappellifiore Uh, that was a joke. The first America concert I attended was in 1972. Lighten up and develop a sense of humor before you give yourself a stoke :-)

  • @bluestucco I think your right!!!!! I need to knock it off.. Peace

  • @bluestucco are you fucking serious?! Justin Bieber is a talentless little boy who needs to back to school. Todays music is what sucks! Timeless tunes such as this can't beaten.

  • @weirdguy75 No, of course I'm not serious. I'm 52. Guess what I really think about today's and the last 20 years of music. But in all fairness, my folks thought bands like America sucked compared to their 40's - 50's music. And we had a Justin Bieber back in the 70's; his name was Donny Osmond. Nothing in life really changes. It just goes through cycles.

  • @bluestucco you left out back street boys and nsync, little girls have to have something to drive their brothers nuts

  • @weirdguy75 only if you're mainstream.

  • This performance is the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Meaning it's good*

  • why is it that today's fucking embarrassing music ranks higher than actual music?

  • Great band!

It reminds me when life was easy soooo many years ago! :-) Luv ya

  • one of my favorite songs.

  • I love 60's through 80's music glad grew up with it all born at the exact right time.

  • una de las mejores canciones del grupo america !! ouuuuhhh

  • the slower studio version of this song is much better in my opinion....the saddness of the lyrics is lost when it is sped up like this

  • @shutdownthefed I should have read a bit, I didn't notice your comment before posting mine. Oh well

  • too fast.

  • wow it's rock dude

  • Is Dewey playing with an open tuning???...after his slide solo he just Barred his strings when the rest of the band was playing a Bm.

  • @deadendkid1968 Actually, Dewey is on the other side, but yeah, its open slide tuning and he's just vamping the last couple of strings it looks like...

  • For you

  • lol, he sings too fast on his own band.

  • One of the best songs of the 70's

  • The 70's were sure fucking great.

  • @leroyspunkin

YES THEY WERE!!!!! We were the luckiest generation!

  • You guys are truly AMAZING. Every time I hear this song, I come ALIVE because it brings fond memories of my college years at UCLA. The joy of my very first college boyfriend. We love Gerry & Dewey. Not only are these guys inspiring but they are incredibly down-to-earth; true gentlemen. Guys, thanks so much for making our world rock. You are and will always be one of our favorites. I believe we have every one of your albums.

  • Theres nothing better then the old Rock N Roll

  • This is an awesome version. I love Gerry's young, intoxicating energy and he was just so beautiful and blonde. My favorite part is the guitar player, Mike Woods. He was always amazing, and still plays with America today. I agree this is a bit fast, but I love this version!!

  • I like this song (its Live) but this version is too fast.

  • This is still a favorite song after all these years :)

  • LOVE America and i live the bass players tie die... coolness

  • I would have loved to be born 20 years before I was. I envy this time in life. I love America. EVERY song.

  • One of the greatest "American" songs ever written.

  • If you'd have played me the record, and told me this was Jackson Browne with George Harrison guesting on slide gtr, I would've believed it. Regardless, too bad the bass player got overly excited and and forced the song into far too high a BPM.

  • @CusterFlux

This version is so much better than all other versions of the song - love it like this !

  • That guy in the beginning needs to relax a little, I'm surprised he didn't start a fire on stage with all that clappin!

  • that's funny . I thought he was goin though the floor of the stage

  • Great video upload. Thanks and thanks to Paul who shared. 5*****

  • Too fast for me. I prefer to original pace

  • I wonder if Gerry Beckley's wife would share him with me. He is just too cute. He is great to watch at the keyboards because of those long fingers.

  • If she consents for you I wonder if she'll indulge me just a little. I love a beautiful blond boy and a guitar, especially a twelve string. He's incredibly foxy and still today too!!

  • Is that John McPhee, guitar slinger for Doobie Brothers, Southern Pacific and Linda Rondstadt playing the slide guitar?

  • Lead guitar player is Mike Woods. He's still with the group.

  • no 4char

  • haha, beckley is not accustomed to fast pace beat, look at him laugh, he was just trying to coup up. Dan Peek likes a fast beat so he was the guy who clap wildly.. i think this is their difference why Dan Peek split in 1977..

  • Great vid, except for the guy on stage wildly clapping his hands at the start of the song. What an embarrassment.

  • sounds good a little faster

  • Born in 1996 and America is my favorite band!

  • born in 1530 and america is my favorite band.

    whatever!!!

  • pussy throbbing good

  • it is faster than on the album but its still amazing

  • mmmm....gerrylicious

  • man they got that BPM cranking in the song---gotta be up towards 160 or so...

sounds a lot faster than the other versions I have heard them sing---perhaps they were on meth or speed that night?

  • LMAO.

  • If my sister had golden hair, I guess I'd be surprised too.

  • Lol

  • haha, good one

  • America doesn't smash up their instruments no matter how they rock

  • gerry = yummy

  • I agree that Gerry is a total fox. Have always loved him. Love the way he stomps in this video. Who can ever pass up a hot blonde guy, singing, playing a 12-string?

  • Can these guys harmonize or what? They were the first band I ever saw live. They opened for Heart in Savannah the same year this video was made-'79. Great memories and great tunes!

  • this is a great video and a great song...thanks for p[utting this up... ;)

  • great song...

  • Great work

  • Luvit
