  • 0:07 :- MY BEST MOVIE CLIFFHANGER EVER

  • The universe is really out to get Doc Brown...first he gets killed by libyans, lightning, and then Biff Tannen.

  • I don't get the point of this video. There are tons of parallels between all three films. Anyone who has seen them knows that they reuse similar or even same music cues, as well as other elements.

  • @chewbacca1010, the point of the video is appreciation. Many subtle elements of film-craft are overlooked or unnoticed by many viewers, so this brings one such parallel to attention to celebrate the filmmakers and musicians, and their brilliant use of lemotif, recurrent themes, and parallelism to tell the story.

  • @kckern Fair enough.

  • Been watching The Trilogy for over 20 (!) years now, and never noticed the letter parallelism till now.

    Well done, sir.

  • Erm...hello! This is one of the themes, its used here and a slightly diff version used in other parts of movie

  • anybody watched the game because thats part 4 of the movie

  • Good observation... I love the moment right after Marty says "There's only one man who can help me..." The music starts back up as we cut to Doc trying to send Marty back to the future... Can't imagine what it must feel like to someone who's never seen it before. I ENVY THEM.

  • When Michael j. Fox crys, he's so cute.

  • this video is exactly 2 years old today :)

  • this video is exactly 2 years old

  • Yeah, composers pretty much always do this. Like John Williams has a theme for the main characters. Like "Luke's theme" or what not.

  • Cool

  • This isn't the only parallel scene in BTTF 1 and 2. Marty also encounters his mom as a teenager (BTTF 1), and as an alcoholic with a boob job (BTTF2). He runs away from Biff and his gang on a skateboard (BTTF), and runs away from Griff's (Biff's grandson) gang on a Hoverboard (BTTF2). There are parallels in BTTF3 as well as Marty encounters his great grandmother Maggie Mcfly, and tries to evade Buford Tannen (Biff's great grandfather) and his gang of thugs.

  • well, i figured 1885! what the hell.

  • The track is called "Lucky Bastard" on the OST. :P

  • LOL.

    "September, eighteen-eighty.."

    "What the hell?"

    "FIVE!"

  • it might just be the theme song for that situation....duh

  • nooo the scene with the 1885 letter was before the last scene in BF1, because right after he gets the 1885 letter he runs back to the 1955 doc and marty #1 JUST got sent back

  • it's called pacing

  • Same music... so, what?

  • Well, yeah, the music would be the same. I think it was meant to.

  • The Climax of BTTF 1, 3 seem alot the same.

  • They were never intending for a sequel? So they were just going to leave us with the ending of Marty,Jennifer and Doc Brown going into 2015 and leaving it at that? Wow. I'm so glad they didn't do that.x3

  • glad you caught that, I've been wondering

  • yeah, Silverstri used the same theme in both movies. When Marty realizes that Doc is still alive in the 1st and 2nd movie. It's the same music.

  • THERES ONLY ONE MAN WHO CAN HELP ME

  • BTTF 1,2 and 3 ARE THE BEST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN!

  • fucking awesome. yeah the "to be continued" was added to the vhs, not in the actual movie theater to begin with. the resolution with 'we dont need roads' is so good though to be an ending without a sequel when u think about it. god i wish i could get amnesia and watch them all without knowing whats gonna happen

  • @JeremyGSU Whatever.......

  • whatever happened to good stories in movies? 80s and 90s had the best movies

  • 0:30 What the hell did they shoot him with?

  • that was cool. right after that part, the ending to the 2nd 1 is even better cuz it goes into the ending of the 1st. its so go that family guy ended its star wars sequel something something something darkside with the ending to BTTF 2

  • This happens in film all the time. Leitmotif anyone? It's recurring musical theme or even a style of lighting, associated with a particular place, person, place, or even an idea.

  • @GregoryUnderwood yes, but this is a direct quote, like most of the score to part II just like Ken Thorne's score to superman II

  • @GregoryUnderwood THANK YOU! I was just looking at the comments and I was wondering how nobody had heard of leitmotif?

  • Back To The Future has the best music!

  • thats some damn good directing

  • They are the same! xD

Dont think I ever noticed that lol but in the first 1 I heard the music but never really payed attention in the 2nd one that it was the same :D

  • when the hell are these movies going to come out on blu ray, i can't wait

  • They're from freakin' 1985!!! They're never gonna come out on blu ray!!! How're they gonna convert video tape to blu ray anyway...they didn't have it then...

  • Comment removed

  • @oftheoceansdeep SORRY!!! I'm not as educated as you obviosly are....

  • @HarryPotter812970 i really hope you're not serious. I'm pretty sure most movies that were ever on VHS are now on DVD and Blu-Ray. So um... I really hope you don't seriously believe that because a certain technology didn't exist in 1985, that it's not possible for things not already in that format to become that format.

  • @prmtryderx3 it's a year since you posted this... i bought the 25th anniversary edition... the trilogy on bluray... it's awesome!

  • 188-What the hell-5!

  • They do this with the Clocktower and the Burn the Book segments too

  • I don't get it? The recycle a lot of the same music over in this movie and every other movie. Whats so significant about this?

  • Marty thinks Doc was killed by the Libyans in part 1.

Marty thinks Doc was killed by the lightning strike in part 2.

They both involve Marty knowing Doc is still alive due to an aged written letter.

  • I think it has to do with the Doc revealing that he is alive and the letters from 1955 and 1885

  • "The Doc's alive! He's in the old west, but he's alive!"

    Classic line right there.

  • When I heard Marty say that line the 1st time my heart skipped a beat. Even though I was 8 I knew Doc was alive. My heart still skipped a beat.

  • i know, marty reading that letter to the end of the 2nd movie is the best part in the whole trilogy

  • Great Scott!!!!!!!! BTTF 1,2 AND 3 ARE MY FAVORITE MOVIES

  • @XxYousefXxxx mine too

  • @XxYousefXxxx And they never made BTTF 4. This is getting heavy.

  • thiS iS heAvy.........

  • "Why are thinks so heavy in the future, is a problem with the gravitation pole???"

  • *pull

  • it was probably intended because they were shot back to back (bttf 1 and 2) :) . But I never noticed, nice.

  • Wrong. BTTF1 was shot in 1985 and they weren't originally intending on a sequel.

BTTF2 and BTTF3 were shot back to back, during 1989/1990

  • Oh yeah LOL , my bad . Thx for correcting me :)

  • MrImprevious is right. Despite the time difference, I believe the scenes were intentionally parallel. Robert Zemekis is very detail oriented, and is careful to construct his films in systematic and meaningful ways, adding layers of depth to his story-telling. The music composer, Alan Silvestri, also very skilled, likely suggested using the same musical motifs for these similar scenes.

  • Of course they were intentionally parallel, come on, it's the BTTF theme!!!! Of course it is! Can't believe people would think it's a screw up!!

  • But I do hate it when writers/directers do it accidentally, (GhostBusters 2, Airplane! 2) Did I forget any?

  • @FunniGui Umm...do what accidentally?

  • @kckern ya cuz if they were planning to make a sequel they said they wouldn't have Jennifer in the car or the whole ending cuz it was a joke but then they wanted another movie after so if she wasn't in the car they could have gone anywhere

  • Thats true, they were not meant to make a sequel but im sure Zemekis meant to do the "parallel" while writing the 2nd and 3rd parts. since there was no idea for a sequel at first.

  • nice one, never noticed

  • great scott...

  • still a great trilogy

  • Great Scott! Thats amazing!
