Thanks. I just got a Kodak for my birthday and am not real tech savy. Thought I'd look on here before I opened the manual and glad I did. I mainly wanted one for my sons RnR gigs. I also recieved an external Sony mic and plan on trying it all out this weekend. To anyone wanting to see the Kodak in a loud dark bar room type atmosphere I'll upload early next week. I own a zi8, but i ask because I blew the built-in speaker on the device, so i cant play back and listen to the audio on the zi8 itself. the audio does work but i have to plug the usb into a pc to hear what was recorded. If you like, check my channel for a classical guitar piece I play using the zi8 and a condenser mic.

Just bought a flip video ultra HD yesterday; like the quality. The audio is pretty good, not the best, but good. Got the white 1hr. of HD video version...not using flipshare...not a big fan. Have my own video editing software I bought. Overall, I'd say it was a good investment.

I think the Kodak Zi8 has more features and the video looked more natural. The only real advantage I saw with the flip is that you wouldn't have to buy a sd card or swap them out, but I have plenty of those already, so I should be ok.

@horsegirl0003 You could delete it from your camera after it is on your computer. When you "upload" video to your computer, it is simply making a copy. You may have the option of deleting your video on the camera through your computer as well.

I have to say that the Kodak looks noticeably sharper then the FLIP in your video comparison. As a former TV News producer I also LOVE the Kodak's external mic input, you can't find one of those even on some of the more expensive camcorders (HD or otherwise)! I think the Kodak seems to be the winner for anyone who wants more then just a basic point and shoot camcorder...

I've owned the Kodak Zi8 and I would have to say that the video quality is incredibly excellent. But I would suggest buying a Canon SX130is over these pocket hd cams because the picture quality on the zi8 is unusable. The Canon does both respectably well.
