@modelleg Yes, Ian Anderson produced Steeleye Span's 1974 album, "Now We Are Six". This came about because both groups shared a common recording lable, Chrysalis Records. Anderson was famously responsible for inviting David Bowie to play saxophone on one of the tracks, an appearance for which Bowie was horrified to discover (many years later) that he had never been paid. Maddy Prior also appeared on the Tull albums "Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll" & "Stormwatch" to provide backing vocals.
@Warchild281 How true! No matter how they tried to minimize that undeniable sense of "TULL" thundering its way into the song arrangements, it still manages to come through. Thanks so much for watching!
Much of this tune was originally from an unreleased Tull song called Apocalypse which was dropped from the Stormwatch .David Palmer talked about it and played the Tull version of it at an Italian Tull convention some years ago
@prestonplatform1 I had heard (back in the murky depths of the past) about an abandoned Tull track entitled "Apocalypse". It's welcome news to hear that at least a bit of it survived in some form somewhere else. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with me. Wow, David (Dee) Palmer at a Tull convention, that had to have been utterly amazing for you to have had the good fortune to witness. That 1976-1979 line-up of Tull was likely my favorite. Too bad that it all came to such a bitter end.
Yes, I agree. Maddy's backing vocal work on the "Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll" album was my first introduction to her. All these years later, I'm still happily exploring the expanse of her musical output. Thanks for watching & commenting.
This songs knocks the absolute spots off Evanessence, this is one of my favourite songs from Maddy Prior, she is one lady who deserves more recognition, for the beautiful songs she has written. Check out Ian Anderson's solo on Gutter Geese
Yes, I certainly agree that Maddy deserves much more attention & praise than she actually seems to receive. Still, I I'm hugely grateful to have discovered her works for myself in a world which makes it as difficult as possible to explore outside the mainstream. I think I first heard "Gutter Geese" & "The Fabled Hare" on a contemporary folk music show many years ago (and have proudly uploaded videos for both), and they truly dazzled my happy ears with their beauty & power. Thanks for watching!
Wow, you're the second person to say that this track sounds like Nightwish. Naturally, I'd take your word for it, C.F., but I still ought to check them out for myself. Thanks for checking this one out, it was sort of a requested project by a handful of viewers.
Thanks! Yes, I like very much what I've heard of Evanessence, but I really need to investigate them much more deeply than the mere handful of songs I've encountered over time. Nightwish, too, it seems. Thanks for the recommendation. And as always, thanks for checking out my vids -- I really appreciate it.
Brilliant visuals here Gothling, it is certainly has you signature style all over it. Great pictures too, don't know where you find them all! And did I see Peter Falk in there too!? Great song, really enjoyed it. Maddy Prior's vocals the music is just hauntingly great. Also I loved Martin's guitar solo here, and cool images to compile with it.
Thanks, Aqua. This was another all-nighter project for me, but I wanted to get it done, 'cause I had meant to do it for so long. Thanks for the encouragement, it really makes me feel like carrying on -- even on days when I have a stupid migraine. Peter Falk? No, unfortunately, I think that was just that second photo of some obscure Soap Opera actor giving an intense look of "disdain". But you're right , he did sorta look like Lt. Columbo puzzling out a crime scene, or arguing with Mrs. Columbo.
Are you 100% sure?! At 1:31 it looks just like Columbo! Well, sorry I am not going drag on this Columbo thing on any further to distract from this great song and video!
LOL! I'm 1,000% positive, but I won't labor the point any further either. Hey, if it makes you happy, Aqua, then we'll say it's Peter Falk. No problem, man.
Holy crap!!! You're RIGHT, Aqua! Damn, how did I not see that earlier? You're right, it's freakin' Peter Falk! I went back to look at some other part of the video to double-check something, and happened to see him, big as life. Damn!!!
Yup, you certainly nailed it alright. Well done. Silly me, I didn't really look at it closely enough, I guess. I used to watch that "Columbo" series all the time, too.
Thanks so much for giving it a look & listen. Nightwish? Wow, great name for a band! Geez, that sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't know if I've heard them. I sort of pride myself on being rather ecclectic in terms of musical entities (Tull really reinforced that in me since the early 1970s, since their sound has been so amazingly diverse). But sadly, my experiences still aren't as widespread as I'd like. But I'll try to check them out. Thanks so much for the tip. Cheers!
Did not Ian Anderson produce Steeleye Span?

@prestonplatform1 That makes sense. I like Maddy, but doubt she could come up with something this complex.

@letekro Thanks. I appreciate your giving this a look and a listen. Best wishes!

@gothling1955 Ha! Yes I meant imagery both ways - both yours and Maddy's :)

Bloody gorgeous, wasn't it? I still have the LP of this album.

@robibm2003 Yes, any project that Maddy has had a hand in musically is always well worth appreciating, but this album was especially wondrous.

Okay, time to go rummage through Amazon's CD collection for this one. I missed it entirely in 1978.
Thanks for posting this and alerting me!

You're more than welcome, my pleasure. Good luck with your Amazon quest, the CD is well worth getting ahold of.

I love Maddy's voice.
She sang great backup vocals on Tull's "Too Old to Rock n Roll".

no problem-Nightwish are kind of Gothic metal-kind of like a harder edged version of Steeleye Span
