I got the achievement by total fluke. Dead center, rode down the elevator in first chapter and the tank was outside. We heard him grunting like he was on fire so we didn't open the door till he died. Apparently, it registered the achievement since we didn't shoot him. *shrugs* i almost wanna make him a pinata though, just for fun!

I literally did nothing and got this achievement. The music that signals the tank started playing and I was just like "is it ever gonna pop out..?" I went upstairs ( i was in the parish) and saw it- still alive- nobody touched it, and it just died, and I got the achievement.

EASIER WAY: 1: Start "bridge" on expert mode (preferably on solo) Step 2: Grab a shotgun and kill the bots Step 3: Grab the melee weapon on the table, a pipe bomb, and adrenaline Step 4: Change the difficult back to easy via vote Step 5: Begin the finale and fight your way up to the tank Step 5: Hit the tank ONCE with the melee weapon and ignore him for the rest of the level Step 6: Get to the helicopter, you should get the achievement. (This is also good for "Bridge Over Trebled Slaughter")

I got this achievement in the strangest way. back when the pipe-bomb float trick worked, I did it in survival on the parish bridge, and floated across the lake backwards. all my bots warped to me and died. I never even saw a tank and yet when I reached the other side it said "Tank Burger achievement Unlocked." Glitch much? lol

@theheat478 i got it by myself in one of the weekly mutations that Valve puts out. It was the one where everyone gets a chainsaw (forget the name) but the A.I will use the chainsaw instead of the pistol, start a finale (Dark Carnival for example) kill th tank when it shows up and the achievement is yours.

@theheat478 I guess you could go on the toughest difficulty, friendly fire to death the other survivors, change difficulty to easy and go see if you're lucky enough to kill a tank ALONE with a melee weapon :P It's hard alright, but should be possible (should be easier on Last Man on Earth or what's its name) mutation since an incapacitation isn't immediately death.
