Something VERY important, these kids are most likely all Mexican American and most only THINK theyre very Mexican until they visit Mexico and realize they dont fit in so well over there. I was born a Mexican and at the age of 6 months my American dad brought me into the U.S.A. If my dad could bring me legally why can't the other "raza" brothers come in the same way? I am in Iraq at the moment. I am also a resident of California and sometimes it seems like I am fighting for nothing. I go home only to be spat on, looked at in a bad way. I am always insulted in spanish everytime I wear the American flag. I feel like a foreigner in my own country!

People feel that they have to forget their culture and heritage in order become a "True American." Diversity is what makes America so great. I was referring to those who have had to. My point is that Hispanics and any other ethnicity for that matter, should be able to become an American citizen without completely forgetting their own culture and history. Who are we to force someone to forget who they are and where they came from?

This is what I mean about people being confused as to which country they pledge allegiance and which flag to fly. Which side can we trust you to choose and fight for should it ever come to that? Mexico or the USA? I don't respect or TRUST anyone who carries a flag of another nation inside the USA. From what I've seen that's a huge multitude of mexicans living in the USA.

@10com40cal No, I personally do not believe that taking on new traditions of the country you live in would allow you to become submissive to the dominant group; however, I do believe that those who come to a new country should be allowed to remember where they came from as well as take on the new traits without being attacked for it.

They wouldn't be protesting in the streets, screaming slurs, threatening take-overs, ranting about their rights, trying to burn the US flag, and flying their flag in our faces. WE have the right to not have their holidays forced on us to the exclusion of OUR rights on ANY day we choose to exercise them. We're sick of their crap being pushed in our faces.

@carlosriosness Actually the first problem we are all making is calling them Mexican Students, I guess the correct thing would be to say they are Hispanic Americans. But I still say, even if the white kids were trying to be dicks, the Hispanics should have seen the flag, shrugged their shoulders and went to what they were doing. Well... There are many Koreans in Japan, most dont speak Korean, however, they are proud of being Korean. I dont think such thing is bad, on the contrary, it is good to know they love their heritage. I dont know why this problem envolving Mexicans is a issue. Is it hard to Americans to recognize that they should respect other peoples feelings and tradition?

@MasterM15 - The issue in this video is not to condemn one's pride in their heritage. The issue is when people who migrate to the USA become offended by the USA flag. The flag of these here United States of America is appropriate any time of the year within our borders. Those who have a problem with the USA flag on USA soil are free to leave USA soil. Sorry I make no apology for the respectful display of the USA flag in the USA.

i appreciate your family and their values. But not all Americans lose their heritage/roots as fast as your family did. shit, my dad was born in Mexico, and i dont celebrate cinco de mayo, i dont even speak spanish. im pretty much like your family. But i know not all Americans are like us, some americans (mexican-americans) are still proud of their roots, and us being Americans need to respect all other americans (mexican americans) and their beliefs since we are all the same, right?

Morgan hill to gilroy has a high number of mexican americans and mexicans. gilroy high seemed to be about 50% mexicans. thats why the mexican american kids take their pride to heart. most are 1st 2nd and 3rd generation (at least here in morgan hill and gilroy).

If you were 1st to third generation and were celebrating ur heritage in any way, holiday, festival, events, etc, and people came pushing the american flag in your face im sure youd be pissed.
or if you happen to be in another country , maybe on vacation or you moved, celebrating 4th of july, because its a part of who you are, and those people were rubbing their national flag in your face on the one day you want to remember america you would punch them in their face.

@carlosriosness - Guess what? My four grand parents came to the USA from Italy. The only flag they raised was the American flag. I never saw an Italian flag in their homes. Their children, my 16 uncles during WW2 had no problem fighting the fascist in Italy. We are very proud of our Italian hertiage, however we are not Italian-Americns, we are Americans without any hyphen.
