Awesome vid. I turned 21 the same day they announced what the name of the new ballpark would be; July of 1991. Found out what OPACY meant while drinking my first legal beer.
Now the 12th Oldest ballpark in Baseball, next year it will move up to 11th Oldest with the opening of the new Twins stadium and in 2012 it will move up to 10th Oldest (And it will be 20 years Old!)
it was not stupid..it was revolutionary..it was the move from the suburbs back to the city that represents the team. it pretty much revolutionized sports gaming.
It's not stupid. Did you ever stop to think of how much it would cost to even renovate or rebuild Memorial Stadium? Certainly a lot more than it is to build a newer baseball-only facility! Let's face it, Memorial Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium with more seats than what was needed. They had to move, it was only a matter of time. Just be grateful the team is still in Baltimore, they could have moved to Washington if attendance didn't go up in the 1979 season!
God bless Fenway South
