The Thunder Bay diner down the street from Hoito is a nice place. Don't crowd in their all at once, there's one woman running the whole show.

If you have a car, I'm sure you can access the natural beauty just outside of town.

I've visted ThunderBay twice in my life. Being a Finnish Canadian I had to see what the cerfuffle was all about. Needless to say I was very surprised to learn about the July '08 Blues Festival...whoa...how did they pull that off?

I still don't get it.... there's really not much there, except great pea soup at "Hoito".

I guess things have changed a heck of alot in the last 10 years, obviously for the better. Is there another Blues Festival scheduled for 2009? if so I'm comin' .....

How about the awesome fishing you can do relatively close to town?You just used all the things a city person would like to do. Guess what; Tbay isn't comparable to most cities in Canada. It's a nature town. You have to explore the outskirts a little in order to truly know how Tbay is worth it.

I think thunder bay is a nice community; I have met a lot of nice people. I have also met some nasty people even thing they utter is nigger, wap, frog, and bogan. The nasty ones are the minority but the great majority are really the nice ones.

We also liked going to the Hoito and getting their skinny pancakes all the time. I liked going to Intercity to go shopping and go to the movies after. Thunder Bay is a great place in Canada.

Not bad. From personal experience, I can confirm: a) pancakes from the Hoito are exceptionally tasty, b) Intercity is not a bad place to kill a few hours, c) Crashing at a relative's house outside of Kakabeka Falls often ends the day off for me. Two other detours worth mentioning: coffee at Robin's Donuts, and Persian pastries from the Persian Man. (It's impossible to find them back in Toronto.....)
