No, that was just a random compaion cube flying by, at 4:58 you can see him and HIS talking compainion cubes shadow slowly passing by, you have to pause and look at the white parts. You'll see him.
I thought so too, but she was trapped in a column of air rushing out of GLaDOS's chamber, sort of like an atmosphere bubble in the vacuum. Now I'm not sure if that would actually protect you from the void of space, but at least it's a semi-valid assumption.
