It looks like a volcanic core. Ever been to the SW of the USA? There are huge "monolith" structures that are that tall which are the cores of ancient volcanoes whose mountains crumbled around them and only the solid core was left. I'm a total believer of ET's, but lets look at all possibilities first.

What can be readily said is that the amino acids that brought about Human Life on earth came on astroids from space. This is scentific fact. What can be also theorised is that if such was the case here, so could it be elsewhere and that that life would also be more or less Human, because the Universe has fundamental flaws, which is why a hydrogen atom on earth is the same as one in the next galaxy

Aldrin is pretty shameless. What he's trying to do is capture the public imagination about the "monolith" on Phobos to get more money into the high-tech welfare system that is NASA. Don't fall for it. They will spend billions of your dollars to go and find out it's the most boring thing ever. Do you honestly think even if it is of Alien origin they'd tell you? If you do, there's a bridge... NASA is nothing but a system of socializing risk (R&D) then privatizing the profits for corporations.

The others I've seen either have the X-Files theme to them or some other science-fiction stuff added, which reduces the credibility of the story.
