I bought McAfee for 2 computers for 2 years. The subscription expired and I kept getting the super loud pop up reminders that I needed to renew. My internet speed really started slowing down too...and freezing so I had to restart. Finally, I decided to just remove McAfee. Guess what. Avast is the best. It scans all data transfers, programs being started and all that all the time. I've used it for 4 years and I'm very happy with it. It is also free with regular updates! Only thing is it may be wise to shut of the data transfer scan thingy when you copy or extract huge files as it might slow the process down, sometimes significantly wheres the worst i've experiences was 7 gb of files that should take 5 mins took 1 hour! Otherwise it is just great.

I just got a trojan virus and I can't get rid of it. I got McAshit to scan it and said there was nothing. Next thing this gayass virus is trying to install some fucked up identity stealing program on my computer. I click on McAshit again and it won't open! I asked my dad for advice and he says to reinstall McAfee -_-......THATS JUST BULLSHIT!!! Does anyone know a decent program that can take care of this virus? :/

@qaz474 - I would do the following -

restart yur computer in safe mode ( hit before you see the windows logo )

use safe mode with network connection -

go to eset.com and use the onnline scanner they have - , and use it in cojuntion with avast .

If you are in safe mode , you can go to the run menu , and type in msconfig.exe , and remove any suspicious looking startup files from there .
