George Peppard was my favorite actor. An MGM star and that once fabled studio groomed him to be a great leading man in the mold of Spencer Tracy. A big hit in "Home From The Hill" and loanouts for "Tiffany's" and Carpetbaggers" and "The Victors" made him a great star. At his home studio he was in the all star Cinerama "How The West Was Won", and a fine WW2 film "Operation Crossbow". Peppard worked with Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, John Ford, Albert Finney etc.
Today (01.10.1928) is his birthday!
