I do wonder how it is over there. In America, I notice the move to anime growing more and more....would be funny if over in Japan people are starting to want more Bugs & Daffy over the next new Gundam.
But, that's just my minor observation and guess-work.

@ImmaIchigoKurosaki Depends on your definition of "epic"....but I've always had my pet peeve against most anime.

@ImmaIchigoKurosaki If you're gonna say Japanese animation is "light years" ahead of American (which is your opinion, not a fact)...could you not unironically love one of the big three shonen?
@ImmaDeker The big three shonen are goddamn terrible? You must be crazy. One Piece, Bleach and Naruto are all amazing, and way better than anything we have in the United States. The animation is nearly unprecedented in the mainstream sense, and the character development is fucking astounding.
I could understand how someone couldn't like them, just for personal reasons, but to say they are terrible, it has to come from someone who lacks any insight or appreciation of anything.
@ImmaDeker Did I ever say anything like that? To be honest, you're the one who implied that for yourself.
Your just a troll who obviously has an agenda of some capacity against Japanese animation appraisal. And I mean just for the sake of trolling because there is a large following who appreciates the manga/anime art form.
I'll pass. I'm not going to argue with someone who can't at least appreciate the Big 3 Shonen. You can hate it with a burning passion, but give respect where respect is due
@ImmaIchigoKurosaki But you did. It's "fact" that anime is better, but I'm wrong for disliking the Big three.
And I like a lot of Japanese animation. I'm a huge fan of Yu-Gi-Oh!, and I love quite a few other shows (The Big O, Cyborg 009, FLCL, Panty and Stocking, Cowboy Bebop). But one nation isn't inherently superior over the other.
@ImmaDeker It seems like you like short series better. The reason why the Big 3 Shonen get knocked so much is because the author of the manga needs time to publish new storylines, and the animes need to keep producing episodes, thus filler. I guess I have a personal outlook on it, because I write manga, its a part of my life. Kubo, Kishimoto, and Eiichiro have been influences on my life, and I have a lot of respect for the things that they do.
@ImmaBlossom Western properties are popular in Japan. Not only do they have dubs of Power Rangers and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, they've aired shows like PPG, Beast Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc.
There's also plenty of fan art for comic books all over Japanese art sites. The creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! is a huge fan of Hellboy, and the creators behind Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt LITTERED the show with references to everything from Fight Club to Invader Zim.
@ImmaDeker Heh, I haven't heard of that tibit between Hellboy and Yu-Gi-Oh in YEARS.....I still remember when the two artists did their take of fusing the two in a picture.
I know they appreciate the shows there as well, I'm just imagining how it would be over there as the opposite of how it is here.
@ImmaDeker Well yeah, I would say the graphic comic book style is craved over there in Japan, because most of their material is in black and white and all of ours is in color.
I hate cliche comic book hero stuff anymore, there is just too much material for me to keep up with, starting from the beginning is a bitch. Thats why they did anime versions of X-Men and Iron Man. Too bad they got terrible reviews, it seems no one can do those things any justice.
And they got terrible reviews because they were terrible. I like how when Japan makes a terrible show, you blame it on some incomprehensible source material (for the record, plenty of us can understand Iron Man and X-Men just fine) rather than possibly admitting maybe they just didn't make a good show.
@ImmaDeker We can understand the general basis, but their canon material is freaking ridiculous. Getting early issues is freaking expensive and scarce, when I can buy Volume 1 of a manga online for like 5 bucks.
No one has ever done a cliche superhero show any justice because they don't know where to begin. They know the general plotline, and how they got their powers, and their allies and enemies, but they don't have a timeline to go by.
Superhero comics have continuity, but they're not linear stories with tangible ends. They're pulp magazines with iconic modern myth. If you've actually read comics, you'd also know that there is a WEALTH of material that is written that only requires the "general basis". All Star Superman, for example.
There have been plenty of great superhero cartoons. You just don't actually watch the stuff but call it bad anyway.
@ImmaIchigoKurosaki Batman: The Animated Series. Young Justice. Spectacular Spider-Man. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited. Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Teen Titans.
@ImmaDeker I've watched all of those, and the only ones that are kind of decent are the Justice League series and Teen Titans.
But regardless, I think if you took a poll around the world: Who has better animation? Japan or the US? I'd bet the general census would be Japan. Sorry for saying "fact", I guess I never meant it literally, but I'll take responsibility for it.
And so, once again, the day is saved, thanks to the Imma Forum.
Seriously, though, as fun as it is to watch my Inbox fill, time to move it to the Forum.

Even the Japanese must miss the old Cartoon Network.

@IMMAMELVIN Considering the epic lineups they have on television, I severely doubt it.

@ImmaBlossom Japanese Animation is light years ahead of anything we are doing in the United States... I mean that is a legitimate fact.
The most quality animation we have over here is... a show about ponies (which I love with a burning passion)
Correct Century and Cosmic Era Gundam is pretty popular as of right now over there.
ImmaIchigoKurosaki 3 weeks ago
@ImmaIchigoKurosaki Saying an opinion is a legitimate fact isn't right, no matter how much you support it.
Besides, I prefered anime when it was like Astro Boy.
I have a thing against that pony show as well, but I'd would have gone with Futurama over MLP. It certainly feels better to me, anyways...
The Gundam thing was a joke.....of course it's going to be popular, they have a freaking real replica of one at their docks.

@ImmaBlossom You may say that, but it just is. There is no denying that Japanese Animation is better than American Animation.

@ImmaIchigoKurosaki ...I just said it, thus it isn't. Again, opinion. Neither of us want to argue over this, lets just move on and agree to disagree.

You know what? I wanna do this. Care to start a thread on the Imma Forum? We can debate this freely.
Or should I start it?

@ImmaBlossom My favorite little detail is that, for all people complain about Western dubbers "butchering" anime, it's not unheard of over there.
Beast Wars was turned into a farcical comedy.
