  • Love it, Dave

  • Excellent video! Thanks :-)

  • hahahaa. he brought out the power drill. reminds me of home improvement.

  • @centr0 haha yeah but my ukulele didnt blow up when i used it!

  • Tim "The Toolman" Taylor would be proud of you!

  • dude! that drill is ultimate laziness but i love it! i'm SO doin that tomorrow

  • work smarter... not harder. hahaha

  • Thank you very much for this! I tried other videos, but yours is the best!

    Catch ya on UU!

  • what kind of uke is that?

  • it was a kala 6 string that i modded to a 4 string and prettied up a bit.

  • SPAM!

    Woot!

  • lol like hacks for settin up an uke lol i just wait like a few days and keep re-tuning it every so often

  • haha you have a lot more patience than i do then. but if it works for you then i cant knock it!

  • btw thanks for the video, i needed to know how to change strings

  • no worries. the strum at the beginning was "nani" by pau hana.

  • yo wut was that strum did at the beginning of the song, im a newb please tell me

  • WOW! A power drill...nice

What kind of tuner is that btw?...I really need one haha

  • powertools are a way of life! hahaha. that tuner is a IMT-500. musicguymic on ebay sells em. about $20.

  • SPAM! lol thanks so much for the post-quite helpful!

  • hi, how do I get the ukulele strings?

are they guitar strings,or is there a set of known ukulele strings.

cus' I have no idea on how to get ukulele strings, if there are any.

    thanks

  • Very helpful. Thanks LOADS. BTW, what brand of uke is that?

  • OMGosh.. you absolutely look like my friend.. the tone of your voice is almost like his tone too.. except that he has a British accent.. coz he was born and grew up in the UK.. anyhoo. this clip is very helpful.. thanks man!

  • what kind of uke is that? and what size

  • kala ka-k6e tenor, converted to 4 string.

  • Any tips on how you converted it? It seems cheaper to convert a six string Kala/Lanikai than to pay for a slotted headstock.

  • just work real slow. take a lot of measurements. and have extra parts handy just in case you screw up haha.

  • Hey man, thanks for posting! awesome tips and nice playing=]

can you tell me what the song at the beginning is?

  • nani by pau hana

  • Hey thanks bro ur the best! Keep on playin' =]

  • thanks man.

  • nice one!

  • Great video! This is very helpful and clear, esp. about the stretching! I'm a beginning uke player, and it's about time for me to change my strings. (How often do you change strings, also?)

I notice you have metal wound strings, but every uke supplier I look at only offer a 3rd or 4th metal wound sting...where did you get yours? Could you post a link for mail order metal strings? ( I have a concert soprano and live in NYC.)

  • actually none of my strings are metal wound. im using d'addario strings. theyre a little thicker than most strings. so it might look like they are all would. i actually only use a metal wound string on one of my ukes for the 4th string because it is tuned to low G. all my other ukes are tuned high G. hope this helps.

  • Thanks, it does!!

  • nice hat nuke :D, you're using the triplet strum in the end when you're playing harana serenade right?

  • actually its more of a fan stroke. three fingers still but all going down during the strum. im using the triplet on the other video though. all the way at the end for the ending of "one night stand".

  • thanks for the tip, nuke. I actually really needed this video because my ukulele strings are coming in any day now.

By the way, I'm diggin your hat ^_^

  • thanx for postin this p're....i always wondered how to do that...

    peace,

    algeezy

  • dude. thats a tight hat. lol.

  • Damn nice one! That power-winder looks freakin scary though! hahaha.

  • Cool man! I love this! Aaron and I filmed a "Uke Minute" on changing strings but this one is a lot better hahaha. Bravo! Shame to put ours up now lol.

    Keep it up Doc!

  • i dont see why you cant still put yours up. but if you wanna use this one, youre know youre welcome to!

  • nice vid nuke! i do lots of the same things you do: the loop and twisting, the string bending, etc. like the power drill peg turner lol. and theres the beautiful pick guards :)

  • good stuff Nuke. i do the 3 finger thing too, and i also power bend like im playing
