OMGosh.. you absolutely look like my friend.. the tone of your voice is almost like his tone too.. except that he has a British accent.. coz he was born and grew up in the UK.. anyhoo. this clip is very helpful.. thanks man!
Great video! This is very helpful and clear, esp. about the stretching! I'm a beginning uke player, and it's about time for me to change my strings. (How often do you change strings, also?)
I notice you have metal wound strings, but every uke supplier I look at only offer a 3rd or 4th metal wound sting...where did you get yours? Could you post a link for mail order metal strings? ( I have a concert soprano and live in NYC.)
actually none of my strings are metal wound. im using d'addario strings. theyre a little thicker than most strings. so it might look like they are all would. i actually only use a metal wound string on one of my ukes for the 4th string because it is tuned to low G. all my other ukes are tuned high G. hope this helps.
actually its more of a fan stroke. three fingers still but all going down during the strum. im using the triplet on the other video though. all the way at the end for the ending of "one night stand".
Cool man! I love this! Aaron and I filmed a "Uke Minute" on changing strings but this one is a lot better hahaha. Bravo! Shame to put ours up now lol.
nice vid nuke! i do lots of the same things you do: the loop and twisting, the string bending, etc. like the power drill peg turner lol. and theres the beautiful pick guards :)
Love it, Dave

kala ka-k6e tenor, converted to 4 string.
nukedoc619 3 years ago
Any tips on how you converted it? It seems cheaper to convert a six string Kala/Lanikai than to pay for a slotted headstock.

just work real slow. take a lot of measurements. and have extra parts handy just in case you screw up haha.
