  • truely avantgarde...

  • No,it's not the CCTV building on fire,it's the hotel called wenhua neal the CCTV.Please see the vedio clearly. The hotel is only belong to the CCTV.But all new say CCTV was on fire.

  • yes, that's right. the CCTV is the large building, the TVCC, the one that was on fire, is the smaller anex to the north. it is a cultural center which belongs to CCTV and a 'mandarin hotel'.

  • and now its all gone...

  • fortunately, not 'all'.... but i liked the tvcc even better than i like the cctv.....

  • something 'strange' about building. unstable structure.

  • just because it looks intuitively unstable to you doesn't mean it is.

  • Are u kidding??!!!!!! Do u think they would build a building like this if it was unstable??!!!! They have tested it, and this building can withstand earthquakes up to 9.5 on the Richard scale.

  • buddy your obviously not a structural engineer, if you said that

  • And soon there is just ashes left...

  • 大裤衩 !见识了--!

  • Looks like phase 1 is complete. Phase 2 will commence in 20 years and involve the addition of a 400 foot bracing tower to the bottom corner of the cantilevered portion to prevent the entire thing from collapsing.

This thing is a ridiculous waste of steel and the architect should be charged with malpractice.

  • one of the most challenge project on the earth~cause the shape plus they build on a earth quake zone~

  • G: In 1976, an earthquake near Beijing was so severe that some report said there were 360,000 people died! Beijing belongs to the Pacific coast ring zone that includes Tokyo, San Francisco, etc. major cities. Beijing is in an well known earthquake zone. Building an aymetrical tall builing is challenging the fate of the occupants in the building, not the architect!because when an earthquake hits,no warning whatsoever,it is said 100,000 tons of TNT, or the atomic bomb of Hiroshima!--dancewu(dot)net

  • That's awesome. Surrealism, for the most part, exists only as an artist's conception. Here's a building that takes an idea of the mind and solidifies it in the three dimension.

  • The sculture has a history: Henry Moore, Noguchi... Koolhaas "BORROWED" from another architect Peter Eisenman's published design IN ORDER TO SATISFY THE PUBLICITY-HUNGRY CHINESE GOVERMENT AND APPROVED THIS ASYMETRICAL TOWER IN EARTHQUAKE ZONE BEIJING! EVEN IT COST 800 MILLIONS DOLLARS,JUST FILLED IT UP WITH STEEL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO BUILD IT! WHETHER IT WILL SURVIVE AN EARTHQUAKE OF 100,000 TONS OF TNT OR NOT ?! NOBODY EVER CARED!!! THAT IS THE TRAGEDY! ....dancewu(dot)net

  • Okay, first of all, are you an architect or a structural engineer? Though the shape may be radical, it is however very safe. Note the dark stripes on the building. It is there not as decoration, but are for the structural support. By just filling it up with steel wouldn't do the trick of supporting it. A similar structural model is made (must like ones made by Calatrava) and tested. So just chill your ass and stop writing comments with 85% of it in caps!

  • You are so idiotic, do you think they would waste frikin 800 million dollars to build a structure that'll just fall down in the event of an earthquake??! "Nobody ever cared"??! Do u know how many times they have tested it on computer and live using a model to make sure it can stand all natrual diasters??! Don't post stupid comments like this, and get some actual facts/knowledge before u talk.

  • ive ever heard that cctv tower is immposible to built. but now its real!

  • good

  • GREAT video!

    what song is that??

  • cool!

  • China FTW

  • definitely a piece of world-class architecture and engineering. surpasses anything we have in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

  • that's amazing```

  • εδω ακουγεται ο ηχος στο blog οχι!

  • can you speak English or Chinese?

    we cant get you!

  • i speak english and just survival chinese...
