OMG ring energy and homing attack. The homing attack was implemented because it can be hard to hit an enemy while jumping in 3d at fast speed. In a 2D Sonic it is just destroying the gameplay. In my opinion the level design conclusions of the homing attack is what ruined the 3d sonic franchise, just a thought on that. Otherwise your game looks polished also the physics seem to be well coded.

If you are gonna update this again then add some joystick compatibility.

The sprites actually made me feel like i was in sonic battle/ sonic advance and it was very nostalgic. The game itself was good and i would say to stick with the original gameplay like the people and stuff like that. One more thing you can do is like add upgrades to sonic like in the original Xbox 360 version. This game gets a 8/10 with room for minor adjustments.

this game gets 6/10 for me because of the bottomless pits every where in every stage and even the first stage, you can't even notice them before they appear, you have to do a quick action to stop them like jumping instantly in a short limited time, i lost tons of times because of that in the first day stage other than that

the engine is cool and how you show the story line is really great :)

So I didn't play it yet but judging from the video...

-The engine looks good (not considering the speed, it might be nice in the game itself)

-The ground in Apotos shouldn't be "floating", it feels SO unnatural. Fill the ground below with more tiles, so it doesn't looks you are on a Smash Bros arena. Also, use edge tiles. Aside from that, the game looks pretty nice as of now.

-Werehog gameplay doesn't look bad but please change the enemies.

-More layers of background would be cool.

seth, here are the 3 things that i would focus on fixin in this game:

make it possible to die from falling

make it able to save progress

make it so that holding x automatically makes you move forward(i held x without moving and sonic stays in place)
