Trained fighters will have good enough defence & foot work to evade a double hand palm strike.Aikido just doesn't work like demonstrated.

So when i say Aikido is useless I am only meaning Aikido against other martial arts such as Muay thai kick boxing.Every randori demonstration i've ever seen people are running in giving their wrist up not throwing real strikes. If you want to be a complete fighter use the couple good techniques Aikido has to offer but find another martial art to be your base.

oh.. my aikido senseis were karatedo black belts that shifted to aikido. i wonder why they did. i had a first hand experience on a karatedoka sandan challenged my sensei at our dojo. he said he would enroll aikido but retaining his black belt from karate. my sensei didn't approved, he has to start at 6th kyu no matter what level he is on other martial arts. my sensei was challenged in a real fight and won using iriminage slamming the karatedoka on the mat.

Second, Aikido training is heavily reliant on Katas; taking on 10-20 students following protocol is not the same as taking on 10-20 attackers. Aikido is a joke, and most people can easily grasp this - catching peoples arms and manipulating them is not as easy as the movies make it look. If that were the case you would be seeing guys in the UFC get thrown every time they threw a punch - doesn't happen, deal with it.

oh.. my aikido senseis were karatedo black belts that shifted to aikido. i wonder why they did. i had a first hand experience on a karatedoka sandan challenged my sensei at our dojo. he said he would enroll aikido but retaining his black belt from karate. my sensei didn't approved, he has to start at 6th kyu no matter what level he is on other martial arts. my sensei was challenged in a real fight and won using iriminage slamming the karatedoka on the mat.
