No Edide didn't invite Mike back for the tour but Mike said he was ready to tour with the band. Eddie didn't want Mike to tour with the band in 04 either and made Mike sign away his rights to do the tour. Mike never contributed anything to VH,he never wrote any music or anything. He just played bass and sang backround on tour.

This will probably be the best thing Sammy has released since he left VH. I've found his output since Balance to be pretty shitty and generic. His Wabos band sucks pretty hard IMHO. With the bass and backing vocals of Mike Anthony and the unreal talents of Satriani, this has the makings of serious, classic rock music unlike anything since the last time Van Halen released a real album. If ANYTHING makes Eddie put out a record, it'll probably be seeing this come out. ;)

Yeah. the backing vocals are going to play a HUGE part in the sound on this album. You can already hear that it's just like the old VH. Oh yeah, "old VH" now means VH and Sammy, "ancient VH" is now the proper vernacular for VH with Dave.

Must agree also on the Balance forward catalog by Sammy. Not much there to be proud of really. VH put out better post-hagar stuff (Me Wise Magic), but I think that was beginning of the end for Eddie. I think that was his last true appearance as EVH.

I know I'm going to get 700 thumbs down for this, but Satch is way better than Van Halen. Sorry, fanboys. I like them both a lot so I have no bias for either. I honestly believe Satch is better live and in studio, plays with more feeling, has more talent and originality, and he's a really nice guy to boot.

Unfortunately, people are always going to refer to this as "That band with all the ex-Van Halen members" rather than "Satriani's first REAL band".
