you have 2 bases on affirm did you use the sodium base (already mix) or calcium base the one u need to mix with an activator? also affirm the firber is for COLOR TREATED HAIR for extra moisture.unless i am wrong i did not see any color on your hair.
The answer your question its not good to change relaxer.as your hair will become confuse.....i ve use affirm for years now on me and my client and they all noticed a BIG difference on the texture, the mouvement even the growth .....take care
I think you should go back to affirm b/c being too straight isn't good b/c you're hair should only be about 85% straight and let heat do the rest and you said that the affirm made your hair feel healthy vs mizani which you were using for years and it was stripping your hair and leaving it very dry and lifeless........
relaxers are not supposed to be use to straighten the hair but relax the hair. when you straighten the new growth your hair will break when your hair grows because there is a difference between the new groth and the previous relaxed hair. Also, thats why your hair doesn't have any movement or body due to you strightening your hair. when you leave a lil wave after relaxing you will have the movement you want. I AM IN COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL AND I PUT THE MAZANI BUTTER BLEND RELAXER ON MY WIFES HAIR.
I've been using Motions with Oil Moisturizer. Have you tried that one? In regards to your question, you HAVE to give your hair time to BREATHE! Personally, I think using 3 relaxers in one year is a bit excessive. I don't think you're giving your hair enough time in between using all these relaxers. I'm actually quite surprised you still have hair on your head! LOL Seriously, though. Give yourself a sufficient amount of time in between changing relaxers and you might see better results.
But my hair BREAKS OFF completely when stretched too much, that's when i would have been bald ! hahhahaha, we do what is growing our hair, so far it works thanks God :-)
Hi Nunaavane. Use the affirm fiberguard because it adds more strength to the hair. The mizani gives it a more straighter look but this look can make the hair look thin and limp. The affirm fiberguard gives the hair body, strength and moisture. I use the mild affirm fiberguard. It straightens my hair well and gives it a very healthy look. I think it will work the same for you if you continue to use it.
@Mslecia27 absolutely ! i co-sign every word ! but the thing is i plan to go texlaxed, so i am back to using my ORS relaxer, for the next year :-) tks a lot for the comment tho
Hi Nunaa. Just saw your vid on the different relaxers. Let me just say that I was trying some of the no-lye relaxers out there because I wanted to go w/ a Lye. I joined a hair site w/ a professional as the moderator. She suggested that I use the QP Elasta no-lye relaxers for a year, then go to a lye. I think with anything you need some time in between for a relaxer. Hope that was helpful.
Hola Nuna, I LUV ur videos, accent, and spirit I have been watching alot of your videos and I too am on a hair journey...It is very expensive getting your hair done in salons, so I have learned to save time and money and handle my business(HAIR)-LOL I would stick with the Mizani and follow up with a hot oil treatment to restore moisture... I have tried this and I love it as I have fine thick hair. I also Cantu Shea butter leave in twice a week along with my JBCO and viola I am good to go.
Thanks for sharing! I have been wondering about those relaxers. If you were using "professional" relaxers (affirm/mizani); then using ORS in a box kit, that could be a reason for your dryness issues. Lye is lye; however, box kit relaxers or perms contain calcium, while the "professionals" do not. It is said that the calcium over time leaves deposits on the hair causing hair to be dry/break and make it difficult to retain moisture. HTH!
i always get my hair straight with the ors and i relax my mum's hair with it and get it very straight aswell- just smooth and then leave it on for about 10-13mins after if you want it very straight
@silverflowers1 by the way i don't leave my own as long as that cz i dont want bone straight hair- just my mum's cz she insists i leave it on for long
So, she uses the Mild version? Wow, in that case, the only thing I can think of is that maybe she is not using the entire line? I mean, if she is, your hair should be balanced...and it certainly isn't you because you take great care of your hair...I self-relaxed with the Mild version (for the first time) a few weeks ago, used the entire line (I used something else for the base) and nervous as I was even my hair came out soft....
Ouh La!!! J'ai le meme probleme.I used Dr Miracle for a year...I will compare it to what u said abt Milani (straight relaxed hair but dry my hair) Then I switch to Motions(the one in the box), relaxed my hair with 2 times...I got texlaxed results. Finally I tried Silk Elements w olive oil(in the box) my hair is a little dry but 50-50, bc of the breakage... So I got straight ends, texlaxed hair, relaxed hair and new growth... Don't know hao to deal with!!!
did you use the ORS No-lye relaxer? was it drying to your hair? I used the silk elements lye relaxer for the first time at 15wks post and it made my roots very dry! I believe we have the same hair type. luv ur videos....and Im sure your hair looks alot different two yrs into your journey than at the beginning so more hair videos would be a plus! :)
When I was a child and got relaxers I used Just For Me, and my hair was really long but when I was about 13 I thought it was too old to use it so I was experimenting with different ones and my hair started to break off and I never found a good replacement bc shortly after that I decided to go natural. I'm completly natural now and i looove it lol. thats a less worry of mine trying to get relaxers and stuff. you ever plan on going natural?
well this is going to be a whole video, believe me...maybe by the end of this year but yeah, i want to get this subject covered cause i might do it somewhen
@purplekisses7528 tex-lax is when you hair is not bone straight ! you still have TEXture in your hair, so you apply the relaxer & leave it on less amount of time, or you add some oil in the relaxer so it is not giving its full effect
@nunaavane Well I certainly Thank You for answering me back, I seriously didn't know what that meant but I do know thanks to you. Stay Blessed & Stay Safe
Nunnaa...Try Silk elements relaxer..that's the one i'm gonna try next month i am 12 weeks post now. In May i tried ORS lye it was ok but i was very underprocessed...but i don't know if that was due too me relaxing after 8 month strecth anywho this time i'm trying silk elements :~)
And about the relaxer... I feel Mizani is the best but maybe you need to use the Mild for Fine and Color Treated strength (that's the one I use) and I have fine hair too.
Salut toi!!! I believe you were texlaxed because of the reason you said: doing it at home, prepping your hair to much, not leaving it long enough and not smoothing properly. Even if you use Mizani, that will still happen. Try stretching as long as possible... this way 80€ will not be so bad if you spend only once or twice a year. I'm speaking from experience... my hair was texlaxed no matter what I did because I was too scared. Je suis trop nerveuse quand je le fait. Je ne le ferai plus.
@AnnyKeyz GOOOOD ! very good advice ! the problem is i tried to stretch and after 4 months my hair was breaking & shedding like crazy ! ! it was just ruining all my efforts !
You can try out different brand of relaxers each you relax. Since your hair is dry after relaxing, try doing a jojoba hot oil treatment (Queen Helene) after shampooing. I've used all 3 & prefer Mizani. Try to order from the online wig stores sites- Blackhairspray. com, Hairsisters, or clairhair and sign up to their site... They will email you promotions & discounts that really cut down the regular price!
i will def think of it, so far i am getting tons of answers that are quite leading me towards ORS, but i know that if i can do the mizani myself i might get the results i want.... so thanks again :-)
when I was a young teen the salon I use to go to used affirm. It took my hair out! I had bra strap length hair and it took my hair out to ear length. so I stay away from affirm. Soft and sheen carsons optimum no lye relaxer works for me. I was actually able to retain length while using this relaxer so I have stuck with it ever since. So I think you should use what ever is going to make your hair not dry lol because dryness leads to breakage.
@nunaavane I go to the salon to get my relaxer, everything else i do on my own. this is the ONLY relaxer i can use, anything else might not work because my first one broke my hair off bad, im so terrified to switch so im good lol. but maybe its because each relaxer is different and for ORS you might have to let it sit a little longer, i notice she leaves it on slightly longer, and i have no breakage or problems from that.
Hi Nunaa. My hair texture is quite similar to yours and I also experience the bone-straightness for 2 weeks after Mizani BUT with no significant dryness. This is because my hairdresser uses the Mizani Mild version (ButterBlend). Something to consider.
Je ne crois pas que c'est nocif de changer de défrisant de temps en temps car il le font au salon de coiffure. J'ai le même type de cheveux , je suis 4A et mes cheveux ce sont épassit avec les années (Dieu merci !)
