  • This vid is a favorite on Spain

  • OMG what a beautiful song!it's true that ireland in this year was the absolute winner,it'was impossible to lose. But this swedish song was so melodicaly magic that even today

,after all this year,i continue remember it and hear it.Hope soon to listen again masterpieces like this from Sweden!

  • Your video is a favorite on Marshall Islands

  • This should have won. And I'm not Swedish.

  • the one on the left Nanne Grönwall is related to me, its my mothers cousin, believe it or not

  • UNREAL!!! Unfortunately for this MAGICAL song, it fell onto Eimear Quinn in '96, Eimear just COULDN'T lose that night!!! My top 10 all-time: 1st: The Voice ('90s) 2nd: Nocturne ('90s) 3rd: Den Vilda ('90s) 4th: Vuelve Conmigo ('90s) 5th: Hold Me Now ('80s) 6th: Alvedansen ('00s) 7th: Fiumi Di Parole ('90s) 8th: Volare ('50s) 9th: Insieme: 1992 ('90s) 10th: Keelatud Maa ('90s) The quality of the '90s' songs was UNBELIEVABLE!!!
  • jag älskar dig Sverige!!!

  • @Kokka985 this was way before enya for 1. celtic music? this aint nothing like celtic music. This is a original.

  • very beautiful song and language!!!!

  • Beautiful song, it has something Nordic about it, and makes me think about fairytales. Anyhow, what kind of rhytm does this song have? o_O It's not 4/4...

  • @Colorshade Hm, actually I think the rhythm is 6/4, but I may be wrong.. o:

  • @DeepAquaNeptune nope its 1/3 in general with 1 2/4 beat allover the song if I heard it right.

  • This song reminds me of the frozen pine forests and small villages in the north of Sweden with the northern lights flickering overhead. I have been to Sweden and it has the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Lovely song.

  • I totally loved this song when I heard it for the first time, when I was a kid and I still love this song ^_^

  • ps the celtic sound and the "nordic/scandinavian´" sound is pretty alike since we have been mixed for more than 1000 years.. im faroese/icelandic/swedish and in iceland and the faroes there is a lot of mixtures between the celtic and the "viking" history and traditions... so calling it a ripoff is just naiv... were not that far apart nor different you know...

  • this got 12 from Ireland because it sounds like Enya. :)

  • @ukryan1992 Enya really isn't that popular in Ireland

  • A original song very different of the bad swedish copies of ABBA.

  • 1996, Scandinavia gave us 2 excellent songs: Den Wilda of course, Norway's one was also really beautiful. 1995, Danish singer Aud Wilken, with Fra Mols til Skagen was brilliant too.

  • This is without a doubt one of the most original and best songs ever in the Euroviion Song Contest.

  • What is den Vilda?

  • @awirex73 The wild or The wild one

  • @awirex73: Definitely "the wild one" in this case. Since the chorus of the song is:

"There he dances with the wild one/They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall/Filled with pride and willpower/Dancing like whirls in a waterfall." ;)

  • The man on the piano, Peter Grönvall, is Benny Andersson of Abba´s son.

  • Beautiful! This one or Norway should have won in -96!

  • wennn

  • This should have been 2nd after Ireland!!!!!!!! Norway didn't deserve it as much as Sweden!

  • Should have won!

  • such a good song. I wanted this to win! 2nd Croatia and 3rd Norway.

  • There were lots of great songs in the ESC in those days, but this was one of the best.

  • Sweden ! Come back to Jan, One More Time or Jill Johnson! 1995, 1996 and 1998 are the best Swedish songs for Eurovision!

  • i think the same.... 98 is my favorite;)

  • the one in white looks like peggy bundi...lol...great song

  • Haha. i've seen her many times on tv but have not tought of that. =D

  • this song is so beautiful, and it make me think of christmas! <3

  • not too bad, they often mention snow in the song... though it's not really a song about snow.

  • fint såg henne i krillehöla i lördags

  • beautiful

  • and the snow become drifts along the roadside The hoofstomps still echoes among the mountains Playfully sorrowless, like a waterfall ; The night, it lowers its veil and erases the footprints ; Whereever they are they've got the strenght like the rapids in springtime ; There he's dancing with the wild one They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall Filled with pride and will dancing like whirls in a waterfall ; Filled with pride and will dancing like whirls in a waterfall
  • There he's dancing with the wild one They're dancing like whirls in a waterfall Filled with pride and will dancing like whirls in a waterfall ; But the rumours in the cottages spreads while the snowflakes are falling ; The stars sparkles against the ice like clear crystals ; There he flees away with the wild one They're rushing like whirls in a waterfall Filled with pride and will rushing like whirls in a waterfall ; The cab disappears in the night
  • Very rough translation into english:

The winter, it lowers its veil

    and covers the houses ;

    The inn's hearth is warming

as the food and the jars

  • this is an amazing song, i get swedish images of mountains and lakes when i hear it...

    greetings from greece (heja sverige!)

  • Well, I do like this song very much !

I think, however, Elisabeth Andreassen ought to have won the 1996-contest !!

  • oo it feels very swedish

  • listening to this song you have to ask yourself a question: what is happening with ESC nowadays??

  • I agree, Norway had a good entry this year too.

  • This song gives me shivers everytime I hear it. It's simply amazing! One of the best Swedish entries in the competition so far.

  • this is the best song that ever existed in the eurovision songcontest. :)

  • just a little bit biased opinion perhaps?

Nice, but basically a weak version of Nocturne.

  • Love it ^^

  • good one. but ireland deserved to win that year

  • great, beautiful song.

  • Not a schlager, but still great song and performance...I'd like to hear Nanne at MF with song like "Den Vilda". It's better than swedish winning song from 1999 in my opinion. I really like it :)

  • pity that sweden doesn't send this kind of songs anymore

  • this eurovision (christmas) song, make me cry every time i hear it.

    thank you

  • Used to be my favorite song when I was a little girl, I remember that I used to walk around driving people crazy by "singing" this song all the time.

I love Melodifestivalen and Eurovision, it's a big part of my life. I'm glad to say this is definitly one of the best swedish melodifestival-vinners of all time! <3

  • Well done, One More Time! Many people in Sweden today seem to have forgotten about this marvelous performance when they talk about Nanne Grönvalls Melodifestival/Eurovision-history. It's all about "Avundsjuk" and "Håll om Mig", even though this song is so much better and actually won the Swedish Melodifestival and came third in the ESC! "Den Vilda" is awesome and I think it does sound very Swedish indeed. A good year for Scandinavia, 1996!

  • Totally agree with you, one of the best Swedish entries ever.

  • i love this song!

Eivör Pálssdóttir sung this in Icelandic on a Christmasconsert last week, absolutley wonderful song!

  • I love this song. It gives me such a warm christmassy feeling....

  • I cried when I first heard this small wonder of a song... Yeah, it sounds like Enya, but it's different anyway... Ireland was hard to beat that year, but this marvel and I evighet were worthy candidates for winning as well.

Simply awesome! Best Swedish entry ever if you ask me. Congratulations Sverige!

  • It's Lovely!!!

    Reminds me of Christmas!

  • one of the greatest swedish eurovision songs.

  • I couldn't agree more. <3

  • Haha vilken oxymoron...

  • HAHA! Mitt i prick!

  • ich bin seit einer woche nichtraucher

  • One of the most beautiful songs that have ever participated in Eurovision, it should have won!

  • @rop81 totally agree ! so haunting!

  • Obviously you're entitled to your own opinion but I would just like to point out that Sweden is the 3rd biggest exporter of music in the world after the US and UK and even though you might not find roxette or ace of base (both quite outdated by now) original, your comment about there being nothing more in that country just shows how ignorant you are when it comes to contemporary music, and the sheer scale of the swedish music industry makes me doubt that you've even listened to half of it.

  • @aquarious75 Hahahaha original the garbage of ace of base and their

pop house disco for teens of all that she wants ( actually their only one known song ) or the ordinary stuff

made in roxette which was nothing but a past & copy of abba except

it must have been love ?!?! DD sorry but actually you 're the one who looks from another planet when you dream about an original sound in this ripped song ;-)

Type google / celtic music , and good search to you ! D

  • Ps : obviously you need to go a llittle more depth into celtic music by typing words like mike oldfield , loreena mckennitt, enya and you'll be surprised from discovering by yourself how alike not to say identical sound this swedish group and those Celtic music artists .....;-) lol

  • @Kokka985 still we are the 3rd most music producing country in the world an we are smaller than the city of london... besides ace of base, roxette, europe and ABBA (which were pretty sucessfull) we have in more recent time Robyn, in flames, melody club, the sounds, the hives, mando diao, agnes, meshuggah, vains of jenna, crashdiet, dead by april and many more .. not to mention the producers and video directors and band members (example mickey dee drummer in motörhead).

  • When did Enya get copyright on her style?

  • Don't know if you've listened to really old Swedish ballads, obviously not, cause most of em got this music touch in it. Enya is born 61 roflmao. Who ripped who...?

  • ich bin seit 48 stunden nichtraucher

  • kackebrösel

  • ich bin seit 24 stunden nichtraucher

  • Cute boys ugly singers. The song is really good

  • they should have won

    dear greetz from germany!

  • This is my favourite Swedish entry ever. Beautiful ladies, beautiful melody that suits the poetic text very well.

  • Beautiful ladies? Are u blind or what? The song is very good!

  • this song is even translated into my dialect=D i simply love it

  • superb is the only word needed

  • UNDERBAR MELODI OCH LÅT...verkligen poetiskt och vackert...ett mycket bra bidrag i ESC...

  • Nanne Grönvall and Maria Rådsten is singing this song so well! I'm swedish, and I'm a huge fan of OMT

  • I forgot to add this is a truly beautiful song.

  • I really like Sweden's enrty from 1971 "Vita Vadder"

  • My favourite song from Sweden in Eurovsion of ALL time! :D

  • <33

  • This song is about a girl who lives in the forest, some kind of a elv. A man meets her and they dance.

( Den vilda = The wild one).Something like that :)

  • beautiful song, even better on cd, the orchestration is wonderful, and the piano very ABBA :)

  • I love it !!!

  • The guy at the piano is the son of Benny of ABBA.

  • The guy at the piano is the son of Benny of ABBA.

  • song is toooo good for euro:what placing did it get?

  • It was third

  • Systrar?

  • HEY Everybody!

Few days ago I woke up with this song ending my dream, how beautiful! Then

Rushed to watch it on youtube..and my internet didnt work

  • This was such a great song. Its a pity i did not win. The norwegian song was good too but this was by far the best in 1996 and one of the best ever! Portugal was great too in 1996 but Ireland was just crap.

  • one of my three favorite songs

  • Good song but Ireland ruled that year

  • One of the BEST songs in the story of ESC!!! (I´ve got it in my MP3 and can listen to it for endless times!!!) Well done, Sweden!! One More Time: CONGRATULATIONS!!! XXX

  • love this

  • yey

  • One of the best songs ever in the history of esc. Should have won. Greetings from Griekland...

  • The other day I read a translation of these lyrics and found out it's very similar to "Highland".

Very well done one more time, Sweden!

The Eurovision Song Contest wouldn't just be the same without you.

    Keep it on!! :)

  • Jo, jeg kunne godt tenke meg a bosette meg her i distriktet, sier han, Det er na tolv ar siden han ble kjent med Gerhard Steinsland.

  • dont normally like slow ballads, but I love this song, brings back many happy memories of the year of 1996. Lovely song, but still got no idea what they are singing about!

  • Denna låt är så rörande

  • Åh, älskar den här... så vacker ^^

  • NANNE <3

  • Wow... so unique... Adore it...

  • this song is even covered in the dialect that i speek ^^ this shows how great it is

    greatings from the netherlands

  • One of the best songs ever in ESC.

Never understood why it did not win

men sveriges ESC-låtar blir bara sämre å sämre nått måste göras ^^ XD

men hur fan kunde Norege komma före ^^ XD

  • many good songs passed in the nineties! and this one was also fantastic! 95-96-97 were very good esc years IMO ! kisses from Greece

  • peter grönvall, son of Benny Andersson/ABBA did a VERY good job with this song. what a wonderful gift that talent impart from generation to generation.

  • Hi

I love this song, can anyone send it to me as MP3 format to this poor Spaniard? Thank you

  • One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard

  • BEST

  • omg ok i would say at least in 2002 (a lil bit later) excellence had more deserved it than THIS BAND!!!

  • Look at Peter playing thie piano at 1:58: When he plays the last note of that bit, he raises his right arm abruptly, just like his father!! :D

  • haha, it must be something in the dna!=)

  • the one to the right look like Peggy Bundy

  • yees, i thought that to!:D haha, nämen!:D

  • it has to be said that sweden has sent some great songs to eurovision. i love sweden's songs!

  • Oh, what a beautiful song. No idea what she is singing, but the music sounds just beautiful. This is a true winner!

  • grymt vacker låt.

    skönsång

  • OMG i just lov it, so beutifull

  • this is a beutiful song! swedish can sounds beutiful sometimes!

  • Beautiful song...one of my all time favorites...great atmosphere of travelling...

    tack for posting it !

  • This was (and still is) a great song! A deserved 3rd position!

  • What a nostalgic sound for me! I loved this song, and sang it at the 9th grade graduation concert at my school. Oh, the memories... :)

  • Listen to you all......every nation thinks its sends the best song. There is NO GREAT NATION in eurovision - the stuff has always been done before & always better....

  • Beautiful, beautiful Sweden nice one. This is one of my favorit songs.

    01) Nocurne, Norway 1995

    02) The Voice, Ireland, 1996

    03) Den Vilda, SVERIGE (Sweden) :)

  • It was nice to hear this beautiful song and check out those beautiful singers One More Time...

  • This song should have won! I guess the judges wanted something more popish. That sucks. Jag älskar Den Vilda!

  • EH!!!! Ireland won with the "The Voice" WHICH WASNT POP! hello???

  • Nice song, my second favourite (after Norway).
