sixthly..... this tutorial was so bad that expertvillage had a few other clarinet "experts" do everything that was just said here, all over again.
Seventhly.... The quaility of all these videos put up on clarinet by expertvillage have barely above or equal to quality that would be in a first year instrument tryouts night held by a bunch of 2 year clarinet players giving instruction becsaue they think they are extreme for playing on a strength 3 reed.
Hmm..the clarinet to me is a woodwind, while the recorder is like a whistle. Heh-he, I asked my mom about that one. But the clarinet uses a reed to make sound, while the recorder seems a lot more like a whistle. So....not really. And, quote my friend in 5th grade, "We have these awesome shiny rings and levers and stuff we have no idea how to play!" Without the reed, nothing happens. Fffffffff. Recorder's more of a whistle.
hey im 12 and i need to learn how to play clairnet and this is really helping thank you sooo mcuh but i have a question do you think it would be possible to somewhat learn it in a month? thank you :)
@mariacmsanchez You cant learn in a month. Sorry to get your hopes down but it got mine down to. Im 11. I just got my clarinet. My band teacher has been playing the clarinet since she was 6 and now shes 34. And she plays realy well. It took her 3 Years to get everything down. Like she ccan play any peice you give to her. So were on the same track
@superphil92 really??? i need to like kinda get all the notes down by the end of this month but i have until i think april... because my school was invited to go to disneyland and perform its pretty cool, i think i can. because i know how to read music because i am a guitarist. hahaha sorry for explaining my life story well thanks and your band teacher must be awesome :)
@mariacmsanchez DISNEY LAND?! A beginner band got invited to disney land? Wo-ow. I'm 12 too, and I've been playing the clarinet for 2 years. The best way to learn the notes and to get them down is to say and finger chromatic, then play chromatic, up and down, over and over. Trust me, you can't learn it all in a month!
@Raineyes538 Lol nah it's just really me who sucks everyone else is awesome... Hahha XD thanks for the help and I have until April to be like ok so i think i am good I got lessons help and stuff :). Thanks for helping trust me it really helps
With 30 minutes of practicing chromatic and your music a day, you'll be great in no time. Unfortunately, I didn't learn that until 6th grade. In 5th grade heheh, I didn't get in practice time until the last minute. Made my skills suffer. But without practicing...effeciently (lol) I had chromatic down in 4 months. Just remember: Tongue high, embouchure taut, and blow hard, fast air. Just not too hard. Makes you squeak. Blech.
@Raineyes538 thanks sooo much i am so determined i mean wow. lol. thanks for the help it really does help. I got like the first 3 notes like yup easy as pie. and the rest is well work in progress... it's surprisingly like a recorder just with levers and all that fun stuff. One question does the clarinet relate to the recorder??? other than the fact they are in the same family of instruments???
It's a shame that a few ignorant people have written such degrading remarks. Your advice is excellent not only for beginners but advanced players as well. I have so many colleagues who have had to give up playing because of too much tension in their playing. It is a musician's worst enemy on every instrument! Bravo!!
I used to be very confused about sheet music and Keys to play in, but i found literature and charts to learn on myown and now I'm expanding from 5 instruments to 10 which includes Brass, woodwind, strings, and drums. Some of the best musicians as the worse Teachers that can't speak in plain english and explain why some things exist. I understood more about Electronics after leaving school to read it for myself.
Thanks for this, I just started muisic class and my muisic teacher said there was nobody on clarinet so me and a few of my friends offerd, but we have never used one before...........
I didn't know that you'd be better in covering the holds if your hands are relaxed. Honestly, I've played for 2 years and no one's told me this tip, so I think this was pretty helpful. ^^;
rushing to teach a beginner only sets them up for failure...notice this is for beginners..that's like telling 2nd-year students a second after getting their first piece of music, "don't forget to make the overtone on the major second with the flutes and alto saxophones on that chord...And remember not to scoop the 32nd before the arrival in measure 24.......You have to take your time...these or beginners for ....sake.
a 2nd year could learn this based on talent level. easily. dont think you are trying to be some better person at playing. also where do u take your music lessons at? because sight reading aint to hard.
I'm obviously not talking about sight-reading..I'm talking about professional level concepts such as creating the overtone...balancing across sections....things like that are something you don't throw at beginners without actually explaining it. You have to thoroughly teach hand positioning or they will develop bad habits...Would you want someone to teach you a life-saving maneuver in like 30 seconds or would you want them to take there time? It's the same concept.
Im getting thumbs down for this? I don't understand...do you not want clarinet students to succeed? Overwhelming them is definitely not the way to go.
well i actually i play the clarinet and im first cair and its not hard at all to put together a clarinet . how am i ungreatful judging and rude all i said was it takes u that long to put together a clarinet ok. wow thats soooooo ungreatful and rude
O cotovelo apoiado na mesa? MAU! A ensinar clarinete sentada? AINDA PIOR!
how in the world can you spend 2 mins on this crap i can tell people in like one sec and as u play you will know what pinky will do what it is not that hard
its really fun to play the clarinet but theres a lot of notes
so i started playing the clarinet for about 6 or 7 months and i already know most of the notes and my flats and sharps and ive played about 8 songs in my band class. but im only a 2nd clarinet.
I'm looking for an instrument to play for band in school... I've never played like a band type instrument. Got any suggestions on what one I should play?
ok so I'm thinking about picking up a new instrument the clarinet? I play flute now for almost 13 years and want to try something new. What do you recommend for a beginner clarinet player for buying or renting a clarinet? Being plastic or wood? ive heard either.
ive been playing the clarinet for around 2 months now and ive master starwars and kumbayah :D my music teacher says that your not sposed to put your arm on the table when u play lol so yeah i hope u stop doing it :D
Beginners will have problem holding the clarinet in the wrong spot. What holds the clarinet up while your playing is the right hand thumb rest and your mouth. Second.... She is resting her elbow on the damn table the whole time.
