  • Weckl probably saw this and said I need a Red Maple Custom.

  • did his glasses fall off?

  • epic goofy

    VC is phenomenal

  • EPIC

  • OMG HAHAHA.. when did Weird Al Yankovich start ripping drums??

  • and the glasses??? desappeared??? he started this song with them on, after he lost them!!!???

  • I bet he drove an Iroc back in the day.

  • No Kit can sound like this!

  • 84 still playin matched grip, i wonder when he decided 2 change grips and what the reason for it was ,, hmmmm

  • @kayned47 maybe you should watch the whole video

  • I got the idea of playing drums in Chuck Taylor Converse from Vinnie. Great shoe to play in!

  • Does anyone know what group this is? Or was this music specifically made for this concert? I really would like to find more music like this. Maybe someone could recommend some bands.

  • lol! I love how Vinnie takes his nerd glasses off and then proceeds to play a mind blowing solo... like a BOSS!

  • The track sounds like B-side of a Police record...Vinnie kills it though.

  • Vinnie rules! Best approach/feel/technique/taste/imagination. U name it he has it all and can play any type of music equally as a master. I salute u Vinnie C.

  • VC is so amazing as he pulls his hi-hat stand with his feet @3:44 and yet it still sounded musical.

  • 4:06 Best fill ever?

  • @dsphk - I totally agree, I have ripped off more stuff from this video than I can to mention. Truly a master and gentlemen Sir Vinnie. He truly is from another world.

  • G O D like. Period

  • the solo follows the line so creatively yet clearly

  • fuckin' amazing everytime...

  • @thecravenator42069 i think, in case you care of my opinion, they were younger and were hitting harder, and with a more power you can hit a high and angled cymbal really nice

  • Vinnie most inspired me for his drum solos . My 1st student and myself placed 1st in 2 milwaukee wisconsin drum solo contests in 1994 and 1997 . Thank-you Vinnie Coliauta , i love you !!!!!!!

  • I like how Vinnie pays attention to all of the nuances that make his playing just slightly imperfect. Check 3:50 - he plays the bass drum on 3 and, but the and is a little behind, so he rolls his eyes, reaffirms the feel, and starts grooving again. Lawlz.

  • Glad he got rid of the hairy upper lip. It is so Village Pepole. Gr8 drummer though then and now.

  • Dude's a cyborg.

  • Mindblowing solo! And he comes back (almost) exactly where the chorus music comes back in. Wow!

  • those heads look like powerstroke 4's

  • .. makes me want to go 'eBay' an old Recording Custom kit for some new inspiration

  • He sounds more like Stewart Copeland than Stewart does.

  • @flymarvin True, very The Police/Stewart influence here, the song, so the drumming...

  • @flymarvin i was just thinking that, there are only a few players that changed the face of drumming and stewart is one of them.

  • @bentecho id say vinnie was one of them...

  • hahaha he looks kinda like wierd al

  • Is that a drum kit made of metal?

  • @Zombinomio No I Vinnie does not use metal drums. Are you joking now?

  • @schybba just saying, here 2:12 if you look inside the tom looks as if it were metal instead of wood.

  • @Zombinomio It's the drumhead underneath which is kind of blurry/opaque/white. Look closer and you see the red in there. Also - stage light makes this look "metal" to you. Glad to be of help.

  • @Zombinomio Yamaha Recording Custom drums have a dark grayish finish inside the drum shells no matter what color the outer finish is. That's why the drums look metal through the clear heads

  • @Zombinomio Yes. Check out DC California Drums

  • I bet vinnie's movember stasche was stellar this year

  • We used to to watch this tape at the lobby of Drummers Collective for countless of hours...thank God We had Zach Danziger to show us how to play like that..

  • They didin't let Billy play for very long.

  • 1:26 - 1;42 ; seems like the camera man dropped his keys and was looking for them... Terrible camera work Haha.

  • Master at Work...The thing that hacks me off about this is the shit cameraman.. He seems to have a knack of focusing on the wrong things ALL the time... Why does he never scope out and get an overview of the kit? Loads of nice stuff going on but he fucks nigh on every shot !! Why also does he / they keep moving? The hell is the point of a shot underneath the toms??!!!

  • @DinosDrumVideos yea, one thing i've noticed in most drumming videos is that the cameramen seem to think that we want to see the drummer's face. who gives a damn about their face?? i wanna see their hands and their kit!

  • bass player sucks

  • @murdok620 You sucks :D

  • it´s incredible how stewart copeland has had so much influence on modern drumming, even on colaiuta's.

  • this is THE drummer of all time

  • What a tight display of rock drumming!

  • I call it a masterpiece. It's a great piece for TIMING. LIsten to him play Stuart's parts with Sting! Tasty!

  • Love the child molester glasses.

  • Vinnie the badass!

  • Tony and Stewart meet up and have a love child.. and his name is VINNIE!

  • I love and respect this man with all my possible heart...

  • he was a monster 25 years ago...nows he's an ubermonster

  • @dslacaro exactly. he's much scarier now, as great as he was back in the 80's.

  • luv the glasses vinnie... makes him look even more like an alien ! Boy, what a drummer...

  • its like the soundtrack to some eighties porn video game or something! Vinnie was and is still the man! those recording customs sound awesome too!

  • possibly...the greatest drummer alive...hes versatile, skilled, has groove, incredible phrasing, crazy dynamics, one of the best sight readers in the history of drumming..this drummer can do it all

  • lol this sounds soo funny, such a fun song

  • this is what you call pure taste... dated, perhaps, but state of the art for the studio craft... of course, everyone loves it when Vinnie goes off; I know I do. :)

and his phrasing in this is pure brilliance, imho

  • He should have worn Elvis Costello glasses .These looked so fucked up .Not cool at all.

  • come drummer nulla da dire , ma insomma il luk alla cicciolino jonny , mi sembra eccessivo .

  • Drum risers like that or just unplesant.

  • Wouldn't that music fit to a pornfilm?

  • 1:55 " I got my mind set on you!!!!!"

  • does anybody know if this is a band that's accompanying him, or is it just some fellow musicians he brought along and they're just goofing around? i love this song so much, i want more!

  • Every second since vinnie stepped into he ring, he's held the title as the best drummer in the world..he undefeated champ, the always reigning victor, the ring legend.

  • the melody at the beginning reminds of something like this

"hey kids are you ready to experience the chance of a lifetime? introducing the magic jet a revolutionary new way to clean your asshole in a matter of seconds"

  • damn if only i could work with a drummer like him...fuck...we'd be laying grooves down like crazy....

  • I want a mustache like that.

  • no one can groove on the ride cymbal like vinnie....

  • When Vinnie bites his lower lip he reminds me of Weird Al Yankovich

  • Comment removed

  • Old skool and really awesome!

  • This is really Awesome!, Old skool! and still F*ing awesome!

  • I love this music and Vinnie.

  • This guy can play anything

  • the best drummer

  • one question,....why is double pedal seen as the thing to do these days?.....buddy rich=single pedal, jojo mayer=single pedal, john bonham=single pedal,.......this? single pedal,.....are people going for double pedal because its the thing to do now a days or is it because they dont want to learn the technique to pull it off on a single,....

  • @punkrockdrummer1990 thats all people care abnout is double pedal but then i show them drummers like vinnie and billy cobham and they shut up lol

  • They mention the name of this man alot of times with relation to Dave Weckl and few other technically able drummers but there is nothing besides technique to compare between Vinnie and the others of the genre - he is in a zone belongs only to him , Vinnie colaiuta is a genius drum artist and it does not if he plays crap fusion or cheesy studio music , he and his great drum inspration - Tony williams are the most advanced drummers ever lived.

    PERIOD .

    kAPI rOCK !

  • this man is just awesome!!!!

  • 5 stars

  • Love this man!!

  • Hi guys ,

Anyone help me find the name of that ride cymbal he's using ?? Zildjian K .... ?

    Thx !

  • @sansandemans....It's not a K Zildjian..... It's an "A" probably a medium weight

22' ride cymbal!.... hope that helps.

  • @sticktrik Thanks for your help sticktrik , i appreciate it !

  • absolutely fuckin fantastic. Vinnie is unbeatable.

  • that is pretty nice, like very much.

  • how so? drum and bass is based off of sped up funk, soul and hiphop breaks...just because drums are at a tempo of 140-160 doesn't make it drum n bass ... rawest part of the video is 4:23 when he's smokin in the middle of the clinic answering questions lol cocaine is a helluva drug .. even during drum clinics hahahaha

  • The portion between 1:54 and 2:30 announces drum'n'bass for the next years.

  • NICE SHOES VINNIE!!

  • Check out Vinnys instructor Gary Chaffee if you want to play like him. Gary is the root of alot of modern drumming stars.

  • This is so dated. It's brilliant.

  • This dude was alive in the wrong era. He should hav been playing big band in the 30's or 40's

  • vinnie plays like this already even when thomas pridgen is born yet 1984 lol!!!!

  • @drummaboi281 no.you here alot of vinnie in thomas's playing

  • @drummaboi281 you mean, you hear alot of Vinnie on Thomas Pridgen playing

  • LOL I hope to god this is a troll. Probably is but...some people are just that 'ignant'

  • he is able to play with his left hand both the grip???

  • I think my mother had glasses like that in the eighties.

  • @eirikpilot She did, I remember

  • @eirikpilot everyone did. hahaha

  • @eirikpilot

That's the only kind of glasses they sold in the 80's :]

  • @eirikpilot - my mom had a pair too - I called them SALLY JESSE RAPHEALS LOL

  • He played match grip before , I didn´t know .

  • abertura do programa da xuxa kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

mto bom o video...o cara tem mta tecnica

  • Pedodrummer

  • Ha ha. Awesome glasses, great moustache, super sick drummer.

  • wonder if thomas lang see's this.. LOL...

  • 0:50, BRILLIANT!

  • 3:44 did the bass player kick his hi hat cos he didnt come in right???

  • Haha the cameraman hit by accident.

  • @themilksnatcher i think it just moved forward by accident. sometimes, if the drummer's playing hard enough, the hardware slides.

  • hardwares come a long way since then...

  • Cool stuff at @5:20...hahaha!!

  • Waching vinnie play makes me want to play,,,,,,,,,,love him.

  • hmm he took them off ay one point...im sure..

  • He takes them off while drumming, at 1:55 :)

  • why tell me? I know that!!!

  • All right, your sentence seemed to imply that you didn't notice :)

  • I know that is what you thought ^_^..

but I was simply trying to break it easy to the comment above me...and I said I m sure...

  • OK :D I see you're from the NL. I spent 5 months in Amsterdam :) The best 5 months of my life :)

  • We all wanted red Coverse shoes after this lol

  • LOLOLOL!

  • hahaha this was my first Zildjian Day VIDEO in the 80`s Vinnie is KING!!

  • Image and sound are terribly desynchronized .

  • 0:43 - 1:00 is so sick. he busts this sick ride pattern. Some1 please transcribe!

  • A great example of subdivision and a good lesson for the new generation. Listen and learn, Vinnie's playing is no joke, . . it's timeless.

  • It's funny... When he speaks he actually sounds like a normal person...

    I'm so glad he's there

  • Why wouldn't he sound like a normal person? lol

  • Funny music LOL.

  • Huge glasses...check!....Porn stash...check!.....sweats tucked into my socks...check!....Red chucks....check!.....Dressed to kill ....time to blow minds!

  • Comment removed

  • hehe, my drumteacher made a transscription of that solo part, 2:30-3:08. it's amazing! vinnie plays it so fast that i didnt realize the greatness before i saw it on the paper. its based on sequenses of seven and different paradiddles, always starting on the weak beat, the "&".

  • I bet the page was filled with notes after transcribing it lol Vinni's the best!

  • remember kids, if you work real hard each and every day and snort lots and lots of coke, you too can write great music like this.

  • yeah, but don't, because you might find yourself Drumming for Jesus when you finally get clean.

Anyway, I forgive him, Vinnie rules (but Satan is Lord!! ; )

  • More chuck Ts!!!! 2:02

  • kinda reminds me of Stuart Copeland

  • Sure that there is a Police vibe in the 1st theme, I love it !!!

  • Nice playing...

  • vinnie wrote this piece of music, i think its pretty cool

  • Beautiful glasses Vinnie =)

  • Monster............Player

  • Awe-inspiring camera work.

  • dam tim landers on bass wow! i love vinnie!

  • can't you really describe it?

  • great drumming, horrible music.

  • 100% AGREE

  • isn't that the way it usually goes?

  • great vid.

    thanks for the sharing !

    long live Vinnie !

  • its a genesis song?

  • lol!

  • PIMP glasses!

  • 2:04

    love the chuck taylors

    lol

  • was this track written only for clinics or is it in any of his solo albums?

  • love the mustache... he looks like a colombian coaine dealer :P

  • 0.51.....STYYYLEEEEEE

  • Cheezy 80's Cartoon music followed by a classic porn track! But Phenomenal drumming all through!

  • groove..... oh yeah!

  • It sounds so '80s

  • If you can add cool to a track like the one he's playing to, your a bad@**.

  • he will always stay one of the best definetly !

  • 1:54............this fucking groove is great!

  • Vinnie plays drums

  • All this talent, genius, groove....so whats with the stupid ass track. Not just Vinnie but so many drummers use elevator music as their tracks. Keith Carlock uses a live band and they play cool stuff.

  • I would love to rock to this track. Its a simple groove, it gives the drummer more room to operate. Its a clinic... the point is to take the focus off the actual music and focus on the drummer.

  • haha lol this IS like arch-elevator music isn't it :p.

I guess vinnie tends not to care too much about the song he's playing as long as he gets to groove like a bastard :P. He's played with so many people anyway, by now, 2009, you can't find an example of any type of music he hasn't been recorded playing lol.

  • one of the tightest drummers i ever heard

  • Haha looks a bit like Wierd Al at 0.44

    Nevertheless, AWESOME drummer

  • Nothing against Wackerman or Bozzio, Vinny got the absolute best guitar work out of Frank Zappa

It's like 2 guys sharing a musical brain
