A match made in heaven - the Pet Shop Boys and Dusty! They were all so on top of their game here. One of my all-time favorites. And how about Chris's dance moves! Thank you so much for this post.
To sad that Dusty Springfield is dead... She was great to with "In Private".... Dusty was a beuatyfull woman on that time... But Pet Shop Boys that was the group i hear when i was teenager now im 40 soon 41... Oh boy its a long time ago..
@Lemonman69 -yeah, I still remember going to but their album "please" in an actual record store(not in a mall either) in the 80's. They still sound amazing! I am 37 going on 38.
A great song, one of my favs with both Pet Shop Boys and Dusty. She was one of the best singer ever! Saw Pet Shop Boys here some years ago outdoors in the summer singing all their hits, amazing!! Tried to dance, too many people, couldn't move. Great moment and memories. Love :D ♥
This is what was so cool about the '80s. Veterans like Dusty Springfield, Paul Simon, Steve Winwood and Tina Turner got the comebacks they deserved. On top of that, the '60s finally got the recognition they deserved for their massive influence on music.
Why is it one of the greats? Where to begin? Atmosphere. This has atmosphere which is tough to accomplish. Pet Shop Boys tend to get lumped in with typical 80's pop/dance and this is so much more. It's not just of the 80's but a snapshot of the 80's. It's played on the loop at Disneyland a lot and when I hear it, it's a flood of memories. And Dusty is the most underrated songstress of all. Nuff said!
How insane! I had no clue Dusty Springfield had even ever *heard* of the Pet Shop Boys... lol!
I am so ashamed... this was my time, too (graduated high school in 1990). Man, I was attached to MTV -- I was this huge "Durannie-Whammer" and all! How DID I manage to miss who this lady was? I don't even remember seeing her... I just know the song... arggg.
Really cool to see, lol... thank you much, azul25pt!
Since you guys are talking about 60's music - you gotta see this very cool series on Dusty Springfield and some other top groups of the 60's - reelinintheyears(dot)com/britishinvasion
@mickeba1 lol well I am taking Mickeba's word for it, as anything less would be an abomination, but how do you mean? -- just for the rest of the class, I mean... =D.
love this song i allways loved dusty was brought up listening to her music and loved the pet shop boys as they were in the charts when i was a teen this was the ultimate colaboration as far as i was concerned at the time and it still sounds fab yrs later ! it gets ***** (5 stars) off me!
as Neil once said this was a so-so song until Dusty entered the studio.with just a comment here and a suggestion there she lifted this recording into something quite special
@Markmywordmanchester: Dusty was exceptional, no question of that. But, I think Petula Clark was very talented, and had quite a few hits herself. I like both.
Oh boy, you old queens should have been at the concert! So GREAT! Tell me what you thought on gaydar-namoi. Love to hear from you. lol. Namoi, outback Oz.
Nice random kick at 2:21 ...I mean we've all done been there/done that, right? 5pm when the work days done...or perhaps an exceptional sandwich for lunch,.
If I had this guys accent/voice I'd be in like Flynn.
Music today wouldnt even get a chance to be heard when this song was new. Springfield and Pet shop will live forever while todays crap will be forgoton fast
Pet shop boys had the last laugh though@arielswimming...because who is still around out of all the 3 artists. Should that showed your mates. Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer were just one trick ponies
I remember seeing this when I was younger and before I realized who Dusty Springfield was. Now she is one of my favorite singers. Hate her Anne Murray look here, but a great vocal.
