Nuclear Power Plants are as good for America as more Gulf Coast offshore drilling!
These are some of the safest, most economical ways to boost Federal/Private profits and attract multinational and foreign investments by High-Rollers of the global central banking cartel.
Thank you President Obama, 2011 has proven itself a most profitable year indeed, with ongoing cash injections from the Fed and unprecedented fiscal spending on energy-based exports
This is damn scary. Never seen a politician like this equalling the wolf in the sheep's mask/ costume. He's the biggest hypocrite of all, at least Bush was so stupid you'd never expect anything reasonable from him. But being so smart like Obama yet doing evil shows a lack of morality that's unprecedented in political history
@runtolight Simple, did you know that if you covered every empty place in america with Wind turbines, you would not get as much energy as one Nuclear power plant, or if you covered every square inch of open land with Solar pannels. Our country only gets 1% of our energy from both of those sourses. These so Called CLEAN energy sourses just don't work.
@runtolight Wrong, Generation IV Nuclear Reactor are a promising technology for the next decade or so, in these plants cooling is passive so no generator is required to keep the coolant going like at fukushima. But still generation III and III+ reactors are far safer than generation I (chernobyl) & generation II (fukushima). We have the technology now to make Nuclear Power safe, people shouldn't be afraid of the mistakes of previous generations instead we should learn from them.
What?(*? Why would anyone build nuke plants when there is renewable energy? NO to Nuclear plants. THEY will NEVER BE SAFE. Offshore drilling? When O God when will they learn?
@starkweather444 You are saying that because a country had a 9.0 scale earth quake, which has not happened in recorded history, that we should give up on one type of energy. Get real. The Chances of that happening again are Slim, and current reactors have already over come the problem that happened with that one reactor in Japan. What happened there was because of Power loss, which is some thing easily Remidied when you know how.
All modern nuclear power plants are safe and clean. There's no such thing as 'nuclear waste'.
The ideal setup is nuclear power plants for base load and solar plants to help with peak load. However, the answer is not subsidies but free enterprise and deregulation.
@RJMooreII Explain Yucca Mountain nuclear storage facility then. Also explain why they are trying to engineer this facility to last approximately 10,000 years.
@theonegreat2001 On youtube?? Never! lol. No, nuclear's not a terrible thing in the immediate short term (as long as we don't use it to build even MORE nuclear weapons) to start weeding us off of fossil fuels, but in the long term, it's totally unnecessary. Nobody wants to get stuck on another expensive grid system and depend on others for their power. Solar is the future.
@theonegreat2001 Right, but keep in mind that exponential growth in energy intake is a powerful thing. A decade ago you could barely power a lamp with solar power. Now people power their whole houses with it (albeit expensive at the moment). But it will get exponentially cheaper and more powerful as time goes on. In the next ten years solar will be a viable (and cheap) alternative for most people. In the meantime if you want nuclear, go for it. But keep it a safe distance from people and farmland.
@theonegreat2001 First of all, it's both possible to replace solar panels AND it's possible to recycle them. Second of all, panels are no longer the only way to harness solar energy. They have invented a solar conductive paint as well as paper-thin panels that can stick on over shingles both of which are better conductors than traditional panels. I'm not saying solar energy is the obvious change right NOW, but it IS becoming exponentially more powerful AND cheap. It's a smart investment.
@theonegreat2001 Do you know what they do with it? Do they just pack it into a safe hold or completely eliminate it somehow? My MAIN problem with nuclear power is that it just replaces one grid with another, whereas with solar power you don't have to pay any central power source for your power. There are billions of nuclear reactions going off in the sun, so if we can harness that energy it would be great, and we're getting better at it. But also there has been nuclear contamination in the past.
solar is the weakest way to generate power it takes tens of thousands of dollars for one house...and MANY MANY long years to pay off the initial investment...
@captinseperoth You do not understand the power of exponential growth in energy output, and you obviously did not take the time to read my comments. Solar energy is getting cheaper exponentially as its ability to harness power grows. In the next ten years or so it will be within the average consumer's budget. That's what I mean by "smart investment." I don't mean solarize your house right now, I mean that it's the future of our power source. Who the hell wants to pay a grid for their power?
Obama is probably knowingly, or unknowingly, setting up the next target for someone to fly a plane into...Think about how easy it would be to fly a plane into a nuclear power plant and destroy an entire area of the country...This is not a "Smarter Energy Grid" like Obama said, it is a bad move on the chess board and we are their pawns.....Just what we need more potential targets for people to crash planes into....Are you all ready for another Nuclear Meltdown like 3-Mile Island or Chernobyl???
That is ridiculous logic..That is the logic of a obvious idiot......Because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't happen sometime...That statement was as retarded as they come on youtube...You are obviously and oblivious idiot with no foresight that can't think things through...The Twin Towers in New York were part of the skyline too since 1971..Then they went down in 2001..The only thing constant is change. There has been nuclear meltdown already too like 3 MILE ISLAND...
There are already a bunch of nuclear power plants in America that have been reduced to rubble because they poisoned the environment so bad like TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT and then you got the 3 MILE ISLAND MELTDOWN.There is so many other cases of people getting cancer, etc..Not good odds in my opinion asshole.....Nuclear Power = Nuclear Waste = Nuclear Warfare...Until you've seen the documentary DEADLY DECEPTION you can't have an intelligent argument...That movie won an Emmy.
Why doesn't the U. S. go full nuclear energy?? It is the most Efficient, Cleaner and Economic! I hope coal power plants are charged for their CO2 emissions and deaths of thousands of Americans who die every year from burning coal.
Sorry, but this is all very clean washing of dirty energy ;)
Nuclear power is never clean but very expensive, with all its problems. America has so much sun Consistent with conversion to solar power, wind power and geothermal power could be achieved very much in a few years .....
I know that the American president said it differently than I and a few others have understood it. There are opportunities for coal and gas exempted from the CO2 and there are ways of converting CO2 into oil.
This is probably one of the challenges that the President to see for the USA - and it is a worthy Aplaus.
Eu nao sou AMERICANO mas acho que a energia nuclear e altamente radiotiva ,e nao se deve brincar com essas coisas.Pois na america nao me diz respeito,.Mas em PORTUGAL NEM ESPERIMENTEM.

Not the man I thought I voted for. We the people want Natural, solar and education to all on cutting down on excess usages of power.

major problem with power plants is the cost to build one.
even 10 powerplants can easily cost $80 billion USD

also there are beter plants that p[roduce more with less...
oh why no invest a trillion dollars with many nations a build a fleet of space elevators to send waste into space?

aaahahaha - I can`t believe that he was giving this speach just over 2 months ago . . . yet yesterday he approved offshore oil drilling.
Maybe oil republicans didn`t put up too much of a fight against social health care in return for the rights to drill off the coast of USA.
