gordy,like other greats wrestled and got alot of thier experience wrestling overseas and most were really held back when they were in the states.almost all of them could beat the pretty boys that were getting the push.gimmicks,managers and mystique of wrestling has to come back to keep wrestling going.myself personaly believe wrestling is being destroyed by the prima donnas(guys)and divas.it's all drama bullshit.vince gets rich and the sport dies.guys like these made wrestling not vinces family

@rand923I agree 100% with your statement. Unfortunately fans like us are to few and this style of wrestling would never recieve the viewership necessary to survive. Otherwise ROH and the new NWA Hollywood would have more success. The "modern" day fan loves what they're getting.Endless promos and 3-4 minute matches. Although Smackdown does give us good matches.

@DVROFFMAN Back in the 70's the tv shows were used to promote the big house shows at MSG, the Spectrum and The Omni (for NWA), so there wasn't as much concern about promos on tv. WWWF used to devote about five minutes in the middle of the show to air pre-taped promos. The rest was mat action. Today, of course, the house shows are used to promote tv and ppv. It's all image and promotion now.

@wabankik This was about the time when the Freebirds and Kabuki were in WCCW together. So alot of the Japan dates that were thrown in there I'm quite sure they would travel together and be there at the same time.
