  • hey motochron i also have a cbr an 08 i was curious maybe i skipped it but what kinda of seat padding do u have?

  • @sykologikel It's an airhawk seat cushion.

  • Hey bro

I was looking at doing a cross canada trip on my CBR 600rr 2009 and i was wondering how much a getup like this would set me back? As well as if this gear would survive a 6000km trip?

  • @gabymoto100cc Probably $500, I can't remember exactly. Gear is pretty rugged, shouldn't be a problem.

  • @motochron Thanks bro,

i ended up getting the Cortech tri bag system and the alpinestar tank bag. Can wait for summer so I can test em out.

  • what brand of tank bag is that, and how did u mange to set that up, cause i know its not the magnetic ones

  • @1nuttynu Alpinestar tank bag. And actually it is magnetic. I have glued pieces of metal behind the plastic tank cover for the magnets to stick to.

  • @motochron so what kind of magnet did u put under the tank fairings. ?

  • @1nuttynu not magnets, pieces of metal. Went to Home Depot and bought some shelf brackets and cut them into 3" long pieces. Then epoxied them to the underside of the tank cover. Just big enough for the magnets in the tank bag to adhere to.

  • You should get a throttlemeister and a throttle rocker! And that seat looks AWESOME. Pair that thing up with a pair of bike shorts to keep vibration down on the boys and you're good to go!

  • @PushyLittleKid Yeah those would certainly help with touring. Thanks for watching.

  • How tall are you mate? :) I'm 6'3 and looking to buy a 600 cc super sports.. Just have to figure out which one :)

  • @Bj0rnis I'm 5-11". You might be a little cramped on my bike. :)

  • @motochron Went a sat on it at a dealer, and yes it was pretty cramped. The R6 was actually comfortable, but from what ive heard, the r6 should be the worst 600 to tour on..

Anyhow, havn't tried the gsx-r 600 yet, and it has adjustable footpegs, so ive gotta try that one before i make my decision :)

  • @motochron I am 6'2. Get a 11 ninja 1000. It's a great bike with very comfortable ergonomics.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't want a 700ish pound sport tourer. I spent over 10 years on cruisers (being uncomfortable) before I decided to cross over to sport bikes. Last year I bought an FZ6R (sport, not supersport, I'm old, haha) and I love being able to sport tour on a 450 pound bike, fits me perfectly. I have a very similar touring setup as you do! Great video!!!

  • @JayDubbs37 Thanks for the comments! Glad you are enjoying sport touring, it's the only way to go! :)

  • What type of handle bars did you get installed to raise the height?

  • @greenpath33 I got them at Helibars. helibars dot com. :)

  • I echo your comments about the CBR vs FJR and cruisers. I bet you're a short guy like me. There are very few sportbikes I feel comfortable on. Yamaha FZ8, Honda CBR600RR, and GSX-R600 are the ones I've test-sat/ride. It seems to be a function of the lower body geometry. With my short legs it has to be fairly compact, but with my knees pointing mostly forward (not down) and a wide tank. Otherwise I just find myself slipping down the seat and/or weighting the bars.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @kheetar Thanks for the comment. Actually I am about average height. I don't know what it is, I just find the CBR more comfortable. Guess I am just weird. :)

  • i was thinking about the tank bag for a kawasaki ninja 250 to hold my books. Just wondering, is it hard to see the dials over the tank bag? it doesn't get in the way, right. i would assume not but i dunno.

  • @ForceRecon198 Nope not a problem at all.

  • @motochron Sweet. :)

  • your running out of tape? Is this recorded on a VHS recorder or something! haa

  • I don't care what you ride!! Anyone who has signed the chicken, has my complete respect!! Nice bike though.

  • Absolutely fantastic, i have a 07 RR, looking to get a similar setup, but Cortech not available in UK, going the Oxford route

  • @shahjahaAn Thanks for watching! :) Gotta love the CBR :)

  • how does that tank pad secure to the bike? any videos of how easy it is to take on and off and secure?

  • @scr1be It is magnetic. But the tank cover is plastic, I removed the tank cover and used epoxy to place pieces of metal behind the cover. The tank bags magnets adhere to those. Hope that helps.

  • Stunning bike man, really. I don't think you could get a better looking bike. Looks great with the touring gear too.

  • @bfmv580 Thanks, she is a sight. :)

  • I have a 08 zxr6 which has a under-tail exhaust like your bike. Have you had any problems with this issue and might you know of any other makes or models of luggage I could look into. Thanks

  • @chomama77 Haven't had any problems with the exhaust. I actually switched to a larger Aerostich Motofizz bag for the tail bag on longer trips. Thanks for watching. :)

  • @motochron

mmmm tell me more about those heli bars, I just got an 08 CBR and coming from a Ninja 250 which I ride everyday around town and to class, the position is a lot more annoying, mostly the amount I have to stretch forward to reach the bars, and I'm not a short guy. I just wanted some clip ons to bring the handlebars back towards me so I wont have to be so leaned over.

  • @Bulgdoom Basically they move the bars about an 1" back, and a little bit up. Doesn't seem like much, but it does help. Still have to stop and take breaks while riding, but I usually do that no matter what. Just to get off the bike and stretch a little.

  • @motochron

Seems kind of small, for something that costs $300! Wish they just came with a good clip on position from the factory instead of making them for the track, after all very few people go there. These bikes are sold on the street, should be more considerate of that imo

  • Hey, is it possible to fit a passenger on there + saddlebags for a short daytrip to a park/etc?

  • I don't think so, the saddlebags block the passenger foot pegs.

  • hey man where did u get the seat cushion from and is it comfortable on long trips ?

  • I think I ordered it direct from Air Hawk, but I can't remember it was a couple of years ago.

Yes it helps a lot, I did 407 miles in one day with it so far, and it beats the heck out of the stock seat. Still need to get off the bike and stretch once in awhile, but it does help.

  • For vlogging I am using the Sony Webbie HD.

For this video I used my Sony MiniDV HD Camera.

  • Sony cams FTW!

    Sweet setup, man

  • Killer setup dude.

  • Thanks!

  • You'll be all set then! :)

  • whats a air hawk? man my bike kills my ass

  • Air Hawk is a company that makes seat pads/cushions for motorcycles. Google AirHawk Seat and it should come up.

  • NIce setup! I find a more upright position more comfy for me, like the Triumph Tiger, the Hornet, and my GSX1400.

  • Thanks. That's what is cool about motorcycles, there are so many different types to suit different tastes.

  • I have the same cortech setup on my F4i. Fits well & works great on my roadtrips. By the way, awesome bike dude.

  • Thanks, the F4i is a sweet bike. :)

  • Nice Setupman, that's also my favorite bike. :D

    nice calm vlog.

  • Thanks for the comment!

Calm vlog.....I almost think I sounded to monotone. :)

  • Naw it was just right.

Especially when it's dark and you watch this vlog. :P

  • I have the Fieldsheer saddlebags with the expander tailbag. I think they look almost the same.

  • They do look very similar.

  • Is that a factory seat?

  • Yes it is. I had an airhawk seat cushion from my previous bikes that I just keep switching over. It is a butt saver! :)
