BMW make the best cars. This is definitely the best car in its class. However i would have the 730Ld SE model as it combines perfection with economey. This car is truly stunning.

And also your i-drive isn't exactly a contribution to the improvement of a car in general. No one copies that crappy system. Its too complicated that Mercedes' system COMAND is more user friendly and in fact was more based on by other companies like VW and Porsche. You can have i-drive for all I care. What more you got? Lowly innovations like 1st car with ipod plug-in??? Or first car satellite radio???
@wawiebeastman One more thing Mercedes Benz use a sytem very similar to I-drive in the S-Class I dont know enough about the rest of the Mercedes range to say about them but I have driven a Few Bmws with I-drive I find it very easy and comfortable to use,an tbh I dont find Audi or Mercedes to have better systems in there cars, again this is just my opinion.

BMW was never known as a top innovator. All they do is improve current systems. Its like saying Cadillac was the first car with an in dash TV then BMW goes on and installs a colored TV. Undeniably, Mercedes was the first to use fuel-injection since the 1950s. So does it matter that BMW was the first with direct-injection when in fact, that is still a form of fuel-injection??? BMWs enginering is limited.They only make cars and bikes while Mercedes makes cars,trucks,delivery vans,buses,etc.

Drive dynamic front seats,PRE-SAFE,Distronic cruise control,Side door airbags, head protection curtains,1st w/ scratch-resistant paint,4matic four-wheel drive system,1st direct diesel injection engine,radar-guided cruise control, Attention assist,Lane-Keep assist,autonomous emergency braking,etc.,etc.,etc. Most of Mercedes innovations are geared toward safety and the performance innovations done by Mercedes was developed while racing. In terms of Hybrid technology, BMW again is no match.
With the BMW KERS system failures in F1, I don't know if you guys are confident with their hybrid cars. To think BMW were soo confident of their system that all it showed F1 viewers were smoky DNFs. @justincrap BMW was the first to use Xenon head lights (1991 750, 1994 US spec 750). You have to depends on European manufacturers for technological advancement and innovation. (BMW = TCS, Mercedes = ESP (revolutionary), Saab = heated(1971) and ventilated(1998) seats. Stuff like that, big and small. The Americans and Japanese can't match.
Even that first car with navigation screen is so low. Why? Because navigation systems were invented in the late eighties used by the super rich or people who go fishing or hiking. All BMW did was install a unit on the dashboard. No different from the first car with DVD player or in-dash TV don't you think? Diesels are cleaner, more efficient, have more torque and last longer than gasoline engines... plus diesel is cheaper...
The reason why diesels aren't popular in the US is because in the past people complained about their sluggishness, but today they put turbo's on them which solve the problem entirely...
doesn't matter because the model has been constantly building on its previous features, it isn't like the 7 series is a brand new model that has been copied from Lexus in any way, The 7 series first came in '77, wheres as the LS wasn't developed until '89, I think we both know that BMW has the original, and have definatley not copied the latest LS in their new 7 series, which is not that much different styling wise, and also has not taken any technology from the Lexus LS
hey kid, I did not mention the original BMW7 ---- I just mean this new 7 series---- it looks very similar as the new Lexus LS (specially from the rear). You are very young so maybe you ain't know enough about brands yet however, sooner or later you might learn by reading well and again.
The only thing that looks similar are the tail lights, however these lights BMW has been working on for a long time, which we have seen in their previous concept cars. Can you specify what other parts of the car you think are a copy from the LS...because I am pretty sure BMW has the original

People can talk all the crap they want. It only proved to be a great seller already when all of their Neiman Marcus 7-Series were sold at $ 100,000 each. Its designed very nice, the interior is just spectacular. So, its no suprise when BMW 7-Series has always out sold its competition, actually even the 3-Series and possible 5-Series out sell their competitors.
The one thing i g2 complain about is the way they did the front bumper and hood, there is a very noticible seem taking away form the sleekness, I don't know why bmw does this with allot of their new cars but they still make the x5 and x6 with a proper bmw front end design
That is exactly what it is the front end. Its way to bold looking especially the size as of the kidney grill. The front end design is too bulky looking.
Im a die hard BMW fan but I have to say this has got to be one of the ugliest seven series ever designed! Whats been going on with BMW? They need to redesign this and the 1 series.
If I had any kind of pull at BMW I would design a coupe version of this model, give it racing suspension along with a V12. The First M7. Eat your heart out bentley brooklands.
The S550 is STILL a better car than this 2009 750, and the old 750 -745
The interior looks better considering BMW had to go back to the old style seat and shift controls, but, now, the car isn't really that much prettier.
Now that Lexus's LS has proved itself...Genesis is on the market, MKS is getting the Ecotech V6 and Infiniti has alternate options to the 7', there's plenty of choices out there for less than the $85,000 this car's gonna run.
There's g2 be a new audi a8 in the making too, the current is from 2003. Hyudai, lincoln, Infinti, and Acura is not in the same league as the 7 though, you pay less and will get less. The only one that has managed to step into the BMW, Audi, and Benz flagship sedan territory is the Lexus and arguably Jaguar.
then maybe you should buy a car that has rpm on the left and speed on the right or make one urself. im pretty sure almost all car manufacturers do it that way.
And the lighting design on the rear bumper of this generation 7 series does not look like that on a Lexus. This 7 series is loaded btw. Side view cameras? Night Vision? Twin Turbo, 400 horses, 450! lbs of torque. And I dont see the big reason why people have been complaining about the I drive. It's high tech.
This car is really nice. The grill is a little 2 big but i like the interior more than the S class and im really loving the over all look of this new 7. I currently have a E65 2003 745i and this new one IMO kills my current 7.
In response to your comment, older Lexus' do not look like a BMW. The Lexus brand was established in 1983 and it took 6 years for them to began producing a Lexus vehicle. The LS came out in 1989, and it did not look like a BMW whatsoever. It's design was most modern out of the Jaguar, BMW, and Mercedes. It may be a big 4 dr sedan, but it did not look like a BMW.
It looks like a Toyota Avalon... a bigger, faster one, but look at its side and some angles of the rear and than look at the Toyota. Or Lexus LS. Audi all the way

Okay the grille is just a little too big, but come on, one single flaw isnt going to make the Merc S-class or Lexus LS better than this. The side, rear, and interior are the freshest styles ive seen on any new car. Everything is perfectly shaped and styled. All of the STANDARD features on this car are great too. Its also got more power than the S550 and LS460. Sorry lexus and Mercedes, it looks like BMW's flagship has beaten you guys again, just like it did 6 years ago :(
the new 7-series is better than the new S-class. The older 7-series was better than the older S-class also. This car comes standard with so many high-tech features (night view, heated/ventilated FRONT & REAR seats, park assist) all of these are available on the S550, but come STANDARD on this car. Also the styling of this car is purely better. Better engine too! i recommend this car :)

lol because in the US the laws force us auto makers into strictly making cheap gasoline motors all the way up until the spike in oil prices.
diesels are still infancy but are already twice a efficient..

Diesels are cleaner, more efficient, have more torque and last longer than gasoline engines... plus diesel is cheaper...
The reason why diesels aren't popular in the US is because in the past people complained about their sluggishness, but today they put turbo's on them which solve the problem entirely...

doesn't matter because the model has been constantly building on its previous features, it isn't like the 7 series is a brand new model that has been copied from Lexus in any way, The 7 series first came in '77, wheres as the LS wasn't developed until '89, I think we both know that BMW has the original, and have definatley not copied the latest LS in their new 7 series, which is not that much different styling wise, and also has not taken any technology from the Lexus LS

The only thing that looks similar are the tail lights, however these lights BMW has been working on for a long time, which we have seen in their previous concept cars. Can you specify what other parts of the car you think are a copy from the LS...because I am pretty sure BMW has the original

People can talk all the crap they want. It only proved to be a great seller already when all of their Neiman Marcus 7-Series were sold at $ 100,000 each. Its designed very nice, the interior is just spectacular. So, its no suprise when BMW 7-Series has always out sold its competition, actually even the 3-Series and possible 5-Series out sell their competitors.

The one thing i g2 complain about is the way they did the front bumper and hood, there is a very noticible seem taking away form the sleekness, I don't know why bmw does this with allot of their new cars but they still make the x5 and x6 with a proper bmw front end design

The S550 is STILL a better car than this 2009 750, and the old 750 -745
The interior looks better considering BMW had to go back to the old style seat and shift controls, but, now, the car isn't really that much prettier.
Now that Lexus's LS has proved itself...Genesis is on the market, MKS is getting the Ecotech V6 and Infiniti has alternate options to the 7', there's plenty of choices out there for less than the $85,000 this car's gonna run.

There's g2 be a new audi a8 in the making too, the current is from 2003. Hyudai, lincoln, Infinti, and Acura is not in the same league as the 7 though, you pay less and will get less. The only one that has managed to step into the BMW, Audi, and Benz flagship sedan territory is the Lexus and arguably Jaguar.

And the lighting design on the rear bumper of this generation 7 series does not look like that on a Lexus. This 7 series is loaded btw. Side view cameras? Night Vision? Twin Turbo, 400 horses, 450! lbs of torque. And I dont see the big reason why people have been complaining about the I drive. It's high tech.

This car is really nice. The grill is a little 2 big but i like the interior more than the S class and im really loving the over all look of this new 7. I currently have a E65 2003 745i and this new one IMO kills my current 7.

In response to your comment, older Lexus' do not look like a BMW. The Lexus brand was established in 1983 and it took 6 years for them to began producing a Lexus vehicle. The LS came out in 1989, and it did not look like a BMW whatsoever. It's design was most modern out of the Jaguar, BMW, and Mercedes. It may be a big 4 dr sedan, but it did not look like a BMW.

Okay the grille is just a little too big, but come on, one single flaw isnt going to make the Merc S-class or Lexus LS better than this. The side, rear, and interior are the freshest styles ive seen on any new car. Everything is perfectly shaped and styled. All of the STANDARD features on this car are great too. Its also got more power than the S550 and LS460. Sorry lexus and Mercedes, it looks like BMW's flagship has beaten you guys again, just like it did 6 years ago :(

the new 7-series is better than the new S-class. The older 7-series was better than the older S-class also. This car comes standard with so many high-tech features (night view, heated/ventilated FRONT & REAR seats, park assist) all of these are available on the S550, but come STANDARD on this car. Also the styling of this car is purely better. Better engine too! i recommend this car :)
