It's amazing to see Anything connected with star wars without having the immortal John Williams music behind it. I felt a disconnect, like the movie was somehow less familiar seeing those images with some electronic-synth-scifi-horror music. WIlliams score is not just great, but it sets the tone of the film so differently than the eerie, tension of this trailer. I can imagine the film, from this trailer alone, and I think of something a lot slower paced, scarier, colder. More like ALIEN.

You nailed it. That eerie music, together with the somber tnarration and the selection of the most tense, scary clips the editors could find---all seem to suggest a cold, atmospheric drama---one that just happens to be set in space. It's like some alternate-universe version of Star Wars where Lucas decided to make it a horror film, instead. Even though I'm just a casual Star Wars fan (as opposed to a nerd, LOL), I find myself mesmerized by this frightening trailer.

This trailer was probably just thrown together during filming and before the final effects were done, the Star Wars logo is not even in it's familiar script and the lightsabers are white, also you hear US Navy Battlestations alert siren which I don't remember being in the final cut, or I could be wrong. The Star Wars logo script is exactly the one used on Star Trek the Cage, nearly identical except the Wars is replaced with Trek.

This trailer was made before the movie was finished Fox wanted something they could tease the audience with to see their reaction. The soundtrack wasn't even created yet when this was released. Which is why you hear this music. If you listen to some the sound effects they aren't even completed yet. like some of the blaster guns sound like real guns that's because that's the actual sound they made. They were actually real guns shooting blanks The light sabers weren't roto-scoped with their color

I do hope If Lucas ever actually gets round to making the tv series, that he delves into characters origins, like episodes focusing on Boba Fett, growing up, taking on his fathers mantle, and his hatred for the Jedi. Also show us how Han-Solo stopped a Imperial officer from beating the Wookiee Chewbacca. And he should definaltey delve more into Darth Vader, and the empire's conquering of the galaxy.

no theyve always have color.thats an early production trailer. they change colors as you can rotate the handle to change the temperature of the chrystal emitter. lots of things in star wars and star trek are based on science. or plausable future sciences.

In trying to think what would have been amazing about this trailer, I can imagine:

the dynamic camera movement for the ships was probably amazing

the sound effects were probably absolutely amazing and made you wonder what you were watching (lightsabers for example)
