Well half of the medical world claims these mental disorders are neurological, the other half says biological. Someone like Dr. Mary L. Reed claims most of these emotional anxious disorders are biological. She says with the right food (diet) and herbs you can cure completely. Most of this is a nerve problem. The myelin layer of your nerves is too thin wich can cause complexes to the brain and nerves. You need thicker myelin. You are what you eat it is that simple. I believe this.
It really irritates me how many of these old autism videos always link autism to vaccines. What about my son? He didn't get these vaccines, he regressed just like these children. Doesn't have problems with getting sick all the time and never had a seizure. It sounds to me like there's something else going on with these kids that isn't autism. @HybridPineapple You need to read more. There are VAST differences between autism and mercury poisoning. There also hasn't been thimerosal in vaccines since 2002 and yet the rates of autism continue to climb. My son has autism, but he didn't get his vaccines until after his signs were well established and documented, and his vaxes wouldn't have had thimerosal anyway. But my other five children are neurotypical, were all vaccinated on schedule and prior to 1999. I don't buy it...

Krusejj, autism is NOT a disease. It is not like cancer or TB that causes others to die. People don't die because of autism. Autism is a condition that impairs social interaction, communication, and interferes with one being able to express themselves properly and to understand others' emotions.

Studies have proven that vaccines have not caused the increase in Autism cases. The increase is because of the broadening criteria. The vague definition, and just more awareness. Mercury was not in the vaccines. It was another preservative called Thimerosal. The original study that lined the two was meant to show a link in gastrointestinal isues, not autism.

Mercury does play a role for many children. Its not the only thing that causes it but for many it is the catalyst. My son was one of them. We spent thousands on testing and found mercury off the chart in his body after the vaccines. Also aluminum.

I just wanted to say that I believe the most harmful and useless shot given to our kids in this country is the HepB shot given in the first hours of birth. It's loaded with alluminum and causes damages before we even have a chance to know our babies!!! The HepB is FULL of alluminum, more that any other shot given, and more than three times the FDA approved dose for an adult is injected into newborns!! Tell you pregnant friends to reconsider this shot when birthing in a hospital, it IS a choice!

So, what is the answer? I have a 15 month old (getting ready for his MMR shot) and a 3 year old. Do I spread out the shots, do seperate Measles, mumps, rubella shots?
If it were me, and it is because I have a unvaccinated baby...I wouldn't give the MMR at all...or if you do feel like your child needs it I would wait until he is much older..say 3-5 years old. Allow his body to build it's own natural defences and for his brain to develop without toxic chemicals! These first few years of life are so important to the develpopment of the brain. The differences between my unvaccinated son and the one who had shots(not all of them but some) are astonishing.

Good point, most of the children who get these diseases are vaccinated! I will NEVER allow one of my children to have vaccines after seeing what they did to my first child. To some of you who say that Thimerisol(mercury) is removed from the shots...BULL!!! They don't have to report it because it is not considered an active ingredient! Try reading the book Navigating through Autism, that might be a good start. Many people have Autistic Children, once you take the time & make the effort, you may find them more Enlightened than Normal & wise beyond there years.

Nonsense. Autism is genetic. Don't waste your time with these foolish alternative therapies. Look for evidence-based therapies (ABA, Pivotal response training, verbal behavior, etc). There is no thimerisol in vaccines anymore yet rates of autism continue to rise. There is no relationship between mercury and autism.
That's the way recessive genes sometimes work; it takes the particular combination of your son's genetics to produce the disorder. I feel for your family and wish you the best in finding treatment for him. There is no magic cure, just lots of hard work but so many children learn to talk and socialize that with good therapists, you can be successful.

There are many sources of mercury other than vaccines. Also, vaccines contain adjuvants that create inflammation that may cause autism. Amish never get autism, and never get vaccines.
My son was recently hospitalized with a respiratory problem and extremely high fever. The Hospital didn't know exactly what was wrong with him but he was released a couple days later. Since then he has been showing some autistic tendencies and won't really make eye contact. He used to say dada and has pulled away. I didn't think of the connection between the high fever and the new symptoms but he had just gotten his vaccinations a little bit before the hospitalizations.
Thats what happened to my child who now has AUTISM.... He had a high fever was hospitalized for three days and then after a few weeks was forever silent..... I am sorry I hope you have better luck.

This is stupid, the idea that metals cause autism is a myth, studies have not found any proof. I am autistic and I am living a full life, I am a college graduate, I have a job, a house, and I am getting married. In order to be like everyone else you 'have' to be different, because 2 people are not the same. We are not social because we do not feel like it, so doctors have to call it a illness because they think is unnatural.

You never noticed nothing until after his shots because you cannot diagnose autism until the child is a little over a year, many of these shots are given when you are a few months old. So there is still no proof that vaccines caused it. It would be terrible for a child to die from a illness that can be prevented in the first place. I am all for the vaccines.

Also there was something that without treatment children will require life long care! Do they know anything about autism? Severely autistic might require life long care but autistic spectrum is very wide. Many autistic people are independent, many more could be if given correct support.
I have learned autism is mostly a thing were the body controls the mind and not vica versa. Autistic people don't process food the same way as normal people. It means the brain is left without the right nutritions wich creates a kind of opium feelinf, like u are floating. The mental thing is something most autistic people don't mind, its unique. So maybe I would try the GFCK diet first. This food kills the wrong bacteria and creates energy for your body and brain.
While some showed improvement when going gluten,casein free, I don't know anyone who, after changing the diet,stopped being autistic. I have autism and while I feel better when I don't eat dairy etc, it is more connected to my physical health and general wellbeing. I am still the same autistic person though. When I feel better, I react better,which could lead to impression that I am less autistic, but this is not so. I don't think autism is merely matter of wrong processing of food.
I've always loved dairy because that's what I grew up eating as a child and I don't like changing whatever I'm used to. I eat cottage cheese, yougurt, creme fresh, cheese and milk and I always will! I have Asperger's and what makes me feel worse is NOT the food I eat (unless it has artificial additives, colour and preservatives which I avoid) but the way some people react to me with prejudice and contempt.

You're right on, MizzyUK1. I am Autistic and I have two boys, older one is Autistic. And whatever little help there is available in UK, I've had to fight for tooth and nail (just to get my son's school to protect him from daily bullying and teac him properly as he' couldn't read or write at 7, but with support he received for 6 months, he now can, at 8 and a half). People take for granted the basics we have to fight for on behalf of our kids.

I'm not defending Autism Speaks. There is an underlying problem where children are getting poisoned by vaccines containing mercury, and the link to increased autism has been recorded by hard science. I've gotten vaccines, and so have millions of people, that have not been contaminated. Does that mean we should ignore this? There are people born with Autism that prevents them from communicating- my brother is one, and I've seen his struggles my whole life. A lot of people have struggled every day to help family members who are severely challenged by the affects of autism. Autism isn't a disease. And anyone who labels people with autism as needing to be "cured" is dead wrong. Every person is affected differently. It can be genetic. But it can also be dealt with in ways to help people to lead better lives.

They gave me extra education (what they could afford) and never gave up on me! I'm now 36 and a Mother of two kids, one of them diagnosed with AS. I'm married and have 2 degrees. I virtually did not communicate till my late twenties. I was labeled retarded. I don't have a degree yet, as I used to believe I am not clever, but working on that. I have a diploma from university and a few institutions. I don't want to be cured as I don't have illness. I just wish children to get early support so they could get as much as possible from their potential.

It has since been shown that most Amish actually vaccinate at a *higher* rate than the mainstream population--there are clinics in Pennsylvania, Illinois and other states with high concentrations of Amish families to cater to this community, which is where this data came from. I feel blessed that our son has no other "medical" issues. He got about 12 vaccines around 13 months. I don't believe the Calif. study that says the vaccines aren't related. I'm the mother of 2 Autistic boys. I took no drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or medications the entire of the pregnancies. I was exposed to no chemicals either. The eldest developed normally until his MMR vaccinations at 12mths and 18 mths, regressing gradually from 12mths to meet all 12 criteria for a diagnosis of severe Autism.
He now attends a mainstream school with a full time educational assistant, aged 10yrs. The youngest had no MMR vaccination, developed normally although at 2yrs of age was developmentally 12 mths advanced (3yrs developmentally). He suffered 3 severe illnesses prior to age 2, and regressed rapidly after age 2 to meet 11 out of 12 criteria for Autism.
He is now 8yrs old attending a mainstream school with no educational assistant. Both boys have leaky gut syndrome and the eldest has also suffered chronic ear and tonsil infections. The eldest also suffered severe side effects from the MMR vaccinations. He stopped talking and walking the day he received the MMR vaccination, suffered fevers in excess of 40*C for 2 weeks, whole body rashes, convulsions and screamed almost constantly for over a fortnight.
I don't pretend to claim that immunisation is not the right thing for every child. I am asking for the development of a test to identify children at risk of being adversely affected by immunisation prior to those children receiving innoculation. There needs to be a way of identifying those children at risk of innoculation damage and preventing that damage occurring whilst maintaining the high levels of immunity in mainstream society.

The real world is a tough place and I said your child will do ok if you provide it with all the tools he needs so do not underestimate autistic people. I don't think you understand autism and your child might not even have it, blind and deaf is quite an easy to diagnose him with autism. My daughter has autism & is currently in an insitution in florida, she actually is fairly high functioning but she has some pretty violent behaviors, actually causing me some blindness by punchingme in the eye, & no one wanted to have her aroud because she jumps on your, locks doors so you can't get away from her. I put her in the instition because I was so frightened of what would happen to her on the street if she attacked the wrong person.
Your daughter doesnt have autism becuase there's on such thing. When they discvoer a disorder, they give it a name. But autism is not based on any known disorder. It's a "spectrum" of BEHAVIORS they decided to lump together and give a name. So does your daughter have autism? No. Does she have any sort of disorder? Possbily, if she's beating people up. But she doesn't have Autism because there's no such thing.

We have an autistic daughter who is now coming up to 15. We have learnt a lot over these 15 years about autism, and with respect to any medical 'experts', I'd say that the parents are the real experts as they deal with autism every day of the child's life.
More money should be spent on educating folk about what autism is about - that way, people like my autistic daughter will have more chance of surviving in a society that is aware and understands - and above all, supports.

The rates of autism in Denmark went up because in the middle of the study (to which I assume you are referring) the authors decided to add another cohort of autistic individuals-those who were out-patient. At the beginning of that study, the only autistic individuals they counted were those who were hospitalized. Read the study more carefully.

what i am saying is that there is definatly a genetic predispostion to autism or autism related syndromes. this predisposition makes it possible for some children to be affected by the vaccs. and not others. autistic children may have been hardwired to have a low immunity or an improper system to flush out toxins on there own. which when vaccinated causes autism. but that is not the case every time.

This film was completed about a year ago. Currently, Dr. Usman also has a nurse practicioner and a physician's assistant to help with some of her case load. The waiting list has diminished significantly because of this. While Dr. Usman is, in my opinion, the best doctor out there who is treating our children, there are other doctors who accept that autism is a medically treatable disease. It really irritates me how many of these old autism videos always link autism to vaccines. What about my son? He didn't get these vaccines, he regressed just like these children. Doesn't have problems with getting sick all the time and never had a seizure. It sounds to me like there's something else going on with these kids that isn't autism. There also hasn't been thimerosal in vaccines since 2002 and yet the rates of autism continue to climb. My son has autism, but he didn't get his vaccines until after his signs were well established and documented, and his vaxes wouldn't have had thimerosal anyway. But my other five children are neurotypical, were all vaccinated on schedule and prior to 1999. I don't buy it...

Krusejj, autism is NOT a disease. It is not like cancer or TB that causes others to die. People don't die because of autism. Autism is a condition that impairs social interaction, communication, and interferes with one being able to express themselves properly and to understand others' emotions.
It takes a lot of patience to raise a child with AS. I know because I have Asperger's. You should go to my account and watch 2 of my videos that I have on my life in growing up with Asperger's.

Studies have proven that vaccines have not caused the increase in Autism cases. The increase is because of the broadening criteria. The vague definition, and just more awareness. Mercury was not in the vaccines. It was another preservative called Thimerosal. The original study that lined the two was meant to show a link in gastrointestinal isues, not autism.

I just wanted to say that I believe the most harmful and useless shot given to our kids in this country is the HepB shot given in the first hours of birth. It's loaded with alluminum and causes damages before we even have a chance to know our babies!!! The HepB is FULL of alluminum, more that any other shot given, and more than three times the FDA approved dose for an adult is injected into newborns!! If it were me, and it is because I have a unvaccinated baby...I wouldn't give the MMR at all...or if you do feel like your child needs it I would wait until he is much older..say 3-5 years old. Allow his body to build it's own natural defences and for his brain to develop without toxic chemicals! These first few years of life are so important to the develpopment of the brain. The differences between my unvaccinated son and the one who had shots(not all of them but some) are astonishing.

Good point, most of the children who get these diseases are vaccinated! I will NEVER allow one of my children to have vaccines after seeing what they did to my first child. To some of you who say that Thimerisol(mercury) is removed from the shots...BULL!!! They don't have to report it because it is not considered an active ingredient! (it is to keep shelf life) even though it does the most damage! The reason why it hasn't been fully linked is because there haven't been real studies, they would lose to much money on the shots they put into our children! Nonsense. Autism is genetic. Don't waste your time with these foolish alternative therapies. Look for evidence-based therapies (ABA, Pivotal response training, verbal behavior, etc). There is no thimerisol in vaccines anymore yet rates of autism continue to rise. There is no relationship between mercury and autism.

That's the way recessive genes sometimes work; it takes the particular combination of your son's genetics to produce the disorder. I feel for your family and wish you the best in finding treatment for him. There is no magic cure, just lots of hard work but so many children learn to talk and socialize that with good therapists, you can be successful.

My son was recently hospitalized with a respiratory problem and extremely high fever. The Hospital didn't know exactly what was wrong with him but he was released a couple days later. Since then he has been showing some autistic tendencies and won't really make eye contact. He used to say dada and has pulled away. I didn't think of the connection between the high fever and the new symptoms but he had just gotten his vaccinations a little bit before the hospitalizations.

I am autistic and I am living a full life, I am a college graduate, I have a job, a house, and I am getting married. I have learned autism is mostly a thing were the body controls the mind and not vica versa. Autistic people don't process food the same way as normal people. It means the brain is left without the right nutritions wich creates a kind of opium feelinf, like u are floating. The mental thing is something most autistic people don't mind, its unique. So maybe I would try the GFCK diet first. This food kills the wrong bacteria and creates energy for your body and brain.

While some showed improvement when going gluten,casein free, I don't know anyone who, after changing the diet,stopped being autistic. I have autism and while I feel better when I don't eat dairy etc, it is more connected to my physical health and general wellbeing. I am still the same autistic person though. When I feel better, I react better,which could lead to impression that I am less autistic, but this is not so. I don't think autism is merely matter of wrong processing of food.

I've always loved dairy because that's what I grew up eating as a child and I don't like changing whatever I'm used to. I eat cottage cheese, yougurt, creme fresh, cheese and milk and I always will! I have Asperger's and what makes me feel worse is NOT the food I eat (unless it has artificial additives, colour and preservatives which I avoid) but the way some people react to me with prejudice and contempt.

And whatever little help there is available in UK, I've had to fight for tooth and nail (just to get my son's school to protect him from daily bullying and teac him properly as he' couldn't read or write at 7, but with support he received for 6 months, he now can, at 8 and a half). People take for granted the basics we have to fight for on behalf of our kids.

I'm not defending Autism Speaks. There is an underlying problem where children are getting poisoned by vaccines containing mercury, and the link to increased autism has been recorded by hard science. I've gotten vaccines, and so have millions of people, that have not been contaminated. Does that mean we should ignore this? And for the record, there are a lot of people with Autism that are brilliant.

There are people born with Autism that prevents them from communicating- my brother is one, and I've seen his struggles my whole life. A lot of people have struggled every day to help family members who are severely challenged by the affects of autism. Autism isn't a disease. And anyone who labels people with autism as needing to be "cured" is dead wrong. Every person is affected differently. It can be genetic. But it can also be dealt with in ways to help people to lead better lives.

how old is your brother? I was non-verbal till 6, labelled emotionally disturbed and my parents were told I may be institutionalised. Their reply was: poppycock! No way! They gave me extra education (what they could afford) and never gave up on me! I'm now 36 and a Mother of two kids, one of them diagnosed with AS. I'm married and have 2 degrees. I admitt, life was not easy, but NOT WASTED. Helping Autistic kids - yes! Wasting energy and resources on BLAMING Mercury - NO!

I virtually did not communicate till my late twenties. I was labeled retarded. I don't have a degree yet, as I used to believe I am not clever, but working on that. I have a diploma from university and a few institutions. I don't want to be cured as I don't have illness. I just wish children to get early support so they could get as much as possible from their potential.

Sorry, but this is a myth--the reporter who started it did not actually go out and check. His information about Amish medical practices was in error. It has since been shown that most Amish actually vaccinate at a *higher* rate than the mainstream population--there are clinics in Pennsylvania, Illinois and other states with high concentrations of Amish families to cater to this community, which is where this data came from. There are also autistic Amish children.

The ones who made these vaccinations and the ones who gave them,were completely aware that the amount of mercury in them would only be safe for about a 550 lB infant.The FDA and the makers of these vaccinations with mercury based preservatives stayed hush hush.Soon after alligations were made,they took it out of the vaccines.We pay big money to make sure our children get the best health care possible,and in return,we get our child back with an extremely tragic disorder.

I feel blessed that our son has no other "medical" issues. He got about 12 vaccines around 13 months. I don't believe the Calif. study that says the vaccines aren't related. He's doing great since he's been in school. He's 5 and will attend Kindergarten this Sept. we hope...God bless those who are working tirelessly to help our children. The speech pathologists and the teachers as well as the medical profession.

I'm the mother of 2 Autistic boys. I took no drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or medications the entire of the pregnancies. I was exposed to no chemicals either. The eldest developed normally until his MMR vaccinations at 12mths and 18 mths, regressing gradually from 12mths to meet all 12 criteria for a diagnosis of severe Autism.

He now attends a mainstream school with a full time educational assistant, aged 10yrs. The youngest had no MMR vaccination, developed normally although at 2yrs of age was developmentally 12 mths advanced (3yrs developmentally). He suffered 3 severe illnesses prior to age 2, and regressed rapidly after age 2 to meet 11 out of 12 criteria for Autism.

He is now 8yrs old attending a mainstream school with no educational assistant. Both boys have leaky gut syndrome and the eldest has also suffered chronic ear and tonsil infections. The eldest also suffered severe side effects from the MMR vaccinations. He stopped talking and walking the day he received the MMR vaccination, suffered fevers in excess of 40*C for 2 weeks, whole body rashes, convulsions and screamed almost constantly for over a fortnight.

I don't pretend to claim that immunisation is not the right thing for every child. I am asking for the development of a test to identify children at risk of being adversely affected by immunisation prior to those children receiving innoculation. There needs to be a way of identifying those children at risk of innoculation damage and preventing that damage occurring whilst maintaining the high levels of immunity in mainstream society.

As an aspie, I was always sickly as a child with pneumonia and respiratory infections. I NEVER had a single innoculation. I was always ill with high fevers and fever convulsions till I was 9 yrs old. The real world is a tough place and I said your child will do ok if you provide it with all the tools he needs so do not underestimate autistic people. I don't think you understand autism and your child might not even have it, blind and deaf is quite an easy to diagnose him with autism. Almost everyone who don't sociolise will be called autistic nowadays because it's misrepresented by parents like you.

so many things have caused our social illnesses- pre-birth medication, food, alcohol, etc. Parents should recognize that more prescription drugs are part of the problems. raise your kid normal so they will develop better coping skills. Let medicine come in later in life to improve on that coping base.

My daughter has autism & is currently in an insitution in florida, she actually is fairly high functioning but she has some pretty violent behaviors, actually causing me some blindness by punchingme in the eye, & no one wanted to have her aroud because she jumps on your, locks doors so you can't get away from her. I put her in the instition because I was so frightened of what would happen to her on the street if she attacked the wrong person.

Your daughter doesnt have autism becuase there's on such thing. When they discvoer a disorder, they give it a name. But autism is not based on any known disorder. It's a "spectrum" of BEHAVIORS they decided to lump together and give a name. So does your daughter have autism? No. Does she have any sort of disorder? Possbily, if she's beating people up. But she doesn't have Autism because there's no such thing.

We have an autistic daughter who is now coming up to 15. We have learnt a lot over these 15 years about autism, and with respect to any medical 'experts', I'd say that the parents are the real experts as they deal with autism every day of the child's life.
More money should be spent on educating folk about what autism is about - that way, people like my autistic daughter will have more chance of surviving in a society that is aware and understands - and above all, supports.

Actually The junk science is that which claims to disprove any causal link. Logically, if a study finds no link, there are two possibilities. Either, A) there is no link, or B)the study did simply did not find evidence that does exist. Simply because a study does not find evidence does not mean that there is no evidence.

The authors added an existing autism population, and you see this with a lot of studies.
No one believes the Danish-Thimerosal, that's why it's banned nearly everywhere in the world except for America.
The US CDC covered up their own report, the 1999 Verstraeten study, that found Thimerosal as being causal to Autism.
They purport that Thimerosal has NO link to Autism now, and that the Danish-Thimerosal study also proves that mercury prevents Autism.

The rates of autism in Denmark went up because in the middle of the study (to which I assume you are referring) the authors decided to add another cohort of autistic individuals-those who were out-patient. At the beginning of that study, the only autistic individuals they counted were those who were hospitalized. Read the study more carefully.

my son is still autistic and always will be but with not feeding him processed foods can foods or drinks and mostly organic foods plus the celation to take out all metals in his body he has vastly improved. my D&A scientist friend in Spain told me his body had been compromises by the metals. he has seizures pectus excavatum and many other problems. We have to stop the use of metals being given to our children

my son, Dakota, has also improved profoundly over the past few years. we have huge progress, fallowed by set backs. my treatment for coda...we didn't drug him up, and we just roll with him. if I had taken anything I would have believed that one thing was the reason for the improvement.

the majority of autism cases are in children that did not show any delays until 12-15 months - coinsiding with the child's shots. the infants with disorders are most likely to be the genetic related cases with fraigile x, rhetts, prader, celiac, etc.

what i am saying is that there is definatly a genetic predispostion to autism or autism related syndromes. this predisposition makes it possible for some children to be affected by the vaccs. and not others. autistic children may have been hardwired to have a low immunity or an improper system to flush out toxins on there own. which when vaccinated causes autism. but that is not the case every time.

autism has been around long before vaccinations. before kanner coined the term autism the kids were diagnosed as schizophrenic or simply mentally retarded or disturbed. i will admit the increase may be partly due to vaccinations causing children with a predisposition to become autistic. but if vaccs. were eliminated i highly doubt that there would be no more cases of autism. there are so many contributing factors to autism, vaccs. are just one source!

there is a big difference between schizophrenia, MD, or disturbed and autism. You may have someone with both, but they are not closely the same, and would not be mislabed for each other. the genetic cases of autism are fraigile x, rhetts, prader willi, etc.

i know of the differences. believe me i know. i said before there was a term "autism" developed by Kanner in the 40's many individuals before that time would have been diagnosed as having schizophrenia, or being MD, because there was no other dianostic label.

many are finding that testosterone plays a big role..testosterone aids mercury, while estrogen fights it *hence the 4:1 boy/girl ratio. everyone has some testosterone, those with higher levels may be more susceptible of becoming "autistic"

This film was completed about a year ago. Currently, Dr. Usman also has a nurse practicioner and a physician's assistant to help with some of her case load. The waiting list has diminished significantly because of this. While Dr. Usman is, in my opinion, the best doctor out there who is treating our children, there are other doctors who accept that autism is a medically treatable disease. Google DAN! for a list of other practicioners.

there is a difference between mercury poisoning and autism (they have very similar symptoms). Unfortunatly as of right now there is no way to tell the difference. some kids are "cured" by detox procedures, these cases are due to the toxins alone. but what of the children that these procedures dont help? or who havent been vaccinated and still are autistic? and if it was simply vaccinations why isnt every other person autistic?
