i was born in USA but im living in ger since age 3... i really do understand that its hard to learn the gender of german nouns , but i dont get why so many people say "s" instead of the "z" when really it should be the "ts" sound of "nuts"

The word "Reich" has nothing to do with Hitler, it simply means "Empire" or "Kingdom" and was used 1000 years ago for the German realm (HRE = Holy Roman Empire of German nation,which was the 1st Reich, then came the 2nd Reich in 1871, and Hitler was only the 3rd)
