Heh yea - my passenger was an instrument rated CFI - we filed IFR and got a block clearance for the cloud work, then canceled IFR to form up with dad.

I'll bet Dad wasn't flying the Warrior. When I had my Stearman my son wouldn't fly unless the panel was full of electronics. He didn't know IFR meant I fly roads.
