If I could have only one of those systems with a full library of games.. I'd choose the Neo Geo CDZ. The NG has a small library, but it's mostly top quality titles.
lmao hahahahah my hair looks like conan obrien... what was i thinking... oh yea i remember it was hot as hell in my place that night.... remember that stray dog... lmao what a time.... catch a flight man!
Feels mad owning one of the consoles in your run down of super systems lol loving my CDZ at the mo and really starting to look into picking up a PC Engine at some time but which one haha :)
OMG.. amazing episode Matt!! Glad the 2 of you teamed up!! Really awesome!!!! =)
30 mins of useful 90s gaming knowledge!! I now know what ports the Marty has at the back! and also the NeoGeo CDZ!! Hmm I think LT should be the rarest beast of them all. =)
I never new the Duo R was was the more reliable version, good to know when I finally get aound to getting into the whole PC Engine scene; damn my Saturn shmup and AES bank account destroying addictions! PC Engine goodness is needed too I say! :D
Keep up the good vids mate, you're putting some great stuff out there.
Fantastic video! Still though, the mighty Neo Geo AES will always be my number one from this period of time, best gaming investment I ever made for myself.
@MrVengeance83 I suspect if the AES had been lying around Dankss flat (I don't think he had one out) we might have covered it. ..Mind you Dankss has the MVS running through an arcade cab which has the cheaper game versions I think. Thanks for watching dude!
Yeah the old MVS is the way to go but the AES is probably the most beautiful hardware ever - 20-odd years old and it still hasn't aged in its aesthetic I think.
That vid was excellent once again - half an hour mind I could have been studying but anyway, it was worth it to see all that awesome hardware. Never heard of that PC Engine R screen thing either - they made some collection of accessories, add-ons and what have you for that format, very impressive.
when i first started collecting a mint aes boxed was my first inverstment along with countless rare titles but after a while i couldnt fork out the money to get the ones i really wanted so i put that beast far in storage and have been doing the mvs scene since. i like mvs better you get more for your money when getting a full mvs kit vs a complete aes game... both are exactly the same gameplay just big difference in price.
Yeah matey I agree and would love an MVS cab of my own. I've stopped collecting AES games as the ones I want are prohibitively expensive now - one a year for the next while if I'm lucky!
AES though in my opinion in still the more rewarding collecting option though because of the nice cases, manuals, etc. But as you say, the gameplay is the same. Best option is to get both really.
@futurematt5 It was more of an observation. I was impressed at the amount and quality of information you were both able to put out considering the amount of alcohol you must have consumed.
@vintagevideogamegeek LOL quantity beat quality on a few occassions though! Some of this will put you in good shape when you expand you PC Engine set up. For instance, if you went down the CD route, which of the accessories featured would you go for??
That is one red, shiney looking Matt! Great to see all that PC Engine goodness, it was always a bit of a mysterious novelty console here in the UK (especially for paupers like myself). I suppose I would say the FM Towns Marty is my fav. out of the lot though - I always drooled over pictures of those awesome Capcom conversions - Muscle Bomber and all that jazz, lovely..
duo-R wins it for me deffo! the cdz can suck my dick for the loading times. (they only upped the cache, not the drive speed) but it gets ++ points for having the arranged cd soundtracks, on which if you put the games in a regular cd player (fatal fury special for example) , youll find some fucking bizarre music!
Hello matt, awesome video, very entertaining and interesting to watch, seeing you two together on screen is pure gold a classic moment, looks like you caught the sun while in the states, respect to both of you, keep on keepin on, see ya mate
the aes is only for the rich and famous man... i sold off my minty boxed aes and all the games to pursue the mvs instead.... ill reacquire it one day when i hit the lottery.... lol
Just to note guys the Supergrafx has 5 games plus a prototype game available. Very awesome video man, really loved hearing both of your insight on the PCE Family. I will have to bump up my NEC Collection when the money is right. Very awesome watch, and it is great that you posted a price guide!
Such a good video to watch. I somehow feel like I've not given my PCE enough love since I bought it after watching this. Would love a FM Towns.. so expensive
@AmidstStorm That PCE deserves love, maybe it ain't a super console on its own, but with the help of the elite add-ons it certainly is console royalty in my book!!
@LarryBundyJr ah yes, the figure 8 lead it is. Ooh, front loader? Hmm, no expert am I on that machine. I recommend giving it to a charity shop immediately. But then again you like your in game banter so maybe the huge loading times will suit your style>?!!
@futurematt5 Oh I really bought it as a replacement for a toploader that stopped working, but I ca't be arsed wit the long loading times, I just just a compilation on the PS if I want to play SNK games.
Really cool video, some nice and rare items on that table. That Duo Monitor is an elite item, would love to have one of them someday. While I admit that the LT is a more sought after system I still think the Duo Monitor is a more rare piece even though it's not a system its self. The JVC X-Eye is a great machine, too bad they stripped some nice features like S-vid and a wireless controller on the M2 Wondermega though. A very enjoyable watch guys, thanks for putting that together. Cheers!
@BossBossly When you get a mint boxed Duo Monitor let me know! Really pleased you enjoyed the vid, so easy to make videos at Dankss's given his extensive collection - really just a question of point and record!! (and edit!!)
It's got to be the FM Towns Marty for me personally rarity wise. But i prefer the DUO-R for gaming content even though i don't actually own one, damn! Must do though down the line. Bloody hell you've caught the sun feller, hope you didn't get too burnt anyway and enjoyed vid as usual. :D
Wicked video and a really interesting assortment of consoles. The PC engine LT is pretty special and i would definitely have room for one of those, its a shame they are so expensive.I wonder which console you think had the best game boxes.I will vote for the neo geo AES :)
Awesome, loved it! Looks like you too had a blast, lmao over the dog shit in the X'eye! Just picked up a Neo CDZ incandescently but PC Engine Duo would get my vote, just cos of the library, and I don't own an LT! Thanks for the shout there mate, you know I've been racking my brains over this wise pale dude from soho. Did I meet him on a dodgy nite out one time? Shit, I even googled wise pale street artist dude on holiday in Cardiff and Wolverhampton!
@futurematt5 The original Neo CD top loader is better for the back up shenanigans, the CDZ's got copy protection. Whats the crack with the wise pale dude anyway bro? You cant leave me in suspense like this!?!
@alexgameroom oh sorry, just that this guy had literally just come back from holidays in Cardiff and Wolverhampton which seem like a weird combination considering he flew there from NYC!! He was some grafitti artist bloke who did indeed look pale but don't worry the CIA is not out to find you and your collection of FM Towns Marty backups!!
@dankss Metal slug and samurai showdown what else could i ask for as im not a neo geo owner i only say my vote cause i always wanted it and it always seem like a great console to me compared to the playstartion and n64 back in the day. Those other consoles are cool and really more obscure than the neo geo but sadly i never seen or met anyone with any nec console one day i hope to get one to hopefully pass some games from that era.
great review guys, great systems and great banter!!!!! - hard choice, i'd vote for the CDZ or the Turbo Duo R i think as my winners it's close though - hope there's more of this to come!!!!!
wow thats pretty much 2 for the neo geo... not hard to believe as it is one of my favorite systems. not particularly the cd system but who cares as long as the library is the same... neo geo still holds up so well even to todays standards..... Thanks for the comment man!
