I am a red blooded Texan, but the Yamato and Musashi were the most beautiful battleships ever built. They were used improperly during the war (thankfully) but that doesn't take away from the awesome size, and great lines the ships had.
IMO easily the most graceful and elegant battleships ever built and mayube the most beautiful warships of any kind ever put to sea.
I have a question to ask: Is a 1/350 scale battleship that is RC like this Yamato here a bit too small and unstable? For all I know those 1 metre long ship models fare better for RC... but I am planning to buy a USS Arizona model to convert to RC so can someone advise me about the shipworthiness of that model in water?

You kid'n!lol Das Feuhrers Kreigsmarine Bismarck had 88mm and 20mm deck guns mounted all around it for anit are and personel support... With huge 208mm main turrents for artillary support against other vessels...lol
wish there was 1 battleship that can move its guns plus shots deep charge and cannons plus torpedos and shows light and famously its call sign: babooooooooooooo!!!!!!
I dont build ship models (i build planes) but is there some way you can slow down the propeler so the ship moves at a more regular speed, not saying its bad or anything,I love it.
yeah that would be easy, cams and a drive belt. you might need a larger propellor though? im not sure if having one that small moving slower would be enough to get the ship moving?
fine if it was a film about the Yamato or whatewer, but this is a video showing how a model works, so the noise is too an important INFORMATION about it
@hamace He could've used a smaller electric motor bolted down with rubber washers and using a pair of 'C' or 'D' cells (to lower the draught some) with probably the actual scale propellor. As it is now it's going a bit fast (to scale).
It is a very Nicely done kit and the motor system is fairly easy to replace. (I used to love doing this to my ship kits!)
The Yamato was loaded with 9 20 inch guns 3 guns on each turret mount, this was a big ship unfortunatly it was sunk in the 1942-1943 area:| the only Jap BB that survived was the Nagato it was a BB-3 i think
wow get your facts straight yamato had 9 18 inch guns cause 20 inch would be crazy and yah 3 barrels mounted per turret. it was sunk during the Okinawa invasion of 1945!
Ran across this...The Yamato sailed into the Okinawa Battle Zone with one light cruiser and eight destroyers but no air cover. At 08:23 on April 7, 1945 she was spotted by a U.S. plane. The first attack came at 12:32, and she was hit by 5 bombs and 10 torpedos, then sank on April 7, 1945 at 14:32 with 2,488 men of her crew of 2,767 on board. The light cruiser escort and 4 of the destroyers went down with her. (Just to confirm, had nine 18 inch guns on board.) Left Japan with only the Haruna...
The Yamato was sent on a death mission to distract American planes so kamikazes could attack US aircraft carriers. It was the biggest battle ship ever built.
Because she was the largest battleship ever built, I think the Japanese knew the day they started construction that she would be one of the primary targets of the Allied forces. Her sinking pretty much marked the end of the battleship era...
Yeah for sure, I also argued in a paper I wrote that it was the final death of the Samurai/military class. Symbolically of course, but I think it was. Went as far as to call the Yamato proper the last samurai.
Haha your spelling is an embarrassment. Carriers and Battleships are two totally different types of ships. The strength of a carrier is it's aviation. If a battleship did manage to close with a carrier, the carrier would be meat.
She needs more ballast or something.. the model's too high in the water. That'd make it more stable and look awesome because it wont bob as much and make it look that much more fierce..
Big shame the Yamato (or the Iowa class ships either) never got a chance to see some fierce Jutland-style combat though...
dont know if you know this but that red part of the bottom of the ship is supposed to be in the water so it is riding really high out of the waters, just put like a 10lb weight in the front and back or something eh?
be cool if you could shoot that and have mini battleship wars in your backpool w/ ur friend
"Saw very little action and was only a display of sea power and not a match for the technically advanced Iowa class and Bismark"

Yes the Yamoto was up there but I think a symbol of sea power only, an awesome sight and no doubt the reason why she was bombarded so heavily in her last voyage that was doomed, a bit like Winston Churchill, we have to sink the Bismark, the Yamoto sunk to maximise the prestige of the attacking U.S navy
Really cool. I've always liked the yamammoto from the days of 'star blazers' where they made it into a space ship. Would like to get into that. Where did you buy it ?
