  • Such an incredible band, especially live. I was expecting them to be pretty good, but they absolutely floored me with how spot on they were.

  • @RomeSkateFoSho one of the best live bands out there!!

  • Great song from one of my favorite albums :D You know a band is good when they sound this good straight into mics.

  • If you can't tell that this about 9/11, then you are an idiot. He is a truther. Then again, aren't we all? I think we all want truth wherever we can get it. Sad thing is, many accept falsehoods as truth because it is too earth shattering to their paradigm to realize that things are sometimes more than what they seem. That's okay though. I believe what I believe, and that makes me no more or no less of a nut than someone who believes that our government would never do anything evil.

  • the lyrics to this song resonate so much with all the corrupt, selfish shit going on in my country at the moment (Greece).

No one does it quite like Thrice - and we love them for it.

  • First time hearing this song... its amazing ! City and Colour brought me here.

  • beginning sounds like jesus christ by brand new

  • i love even though dustins band mates dont share his belifs he still continues show his faith in his music

  • RIP 9/11 victims, cant believe its been 10 years from today <3

Woke up to a brand new skyline

We licked our wounds and mourned the dead

Swallowed the story, hook and sinker

Is that what we meant, when we said That we never would forget

  • 1 person must have hit dislike by accident.... b/c there is no way you can NOT like this.

  • Dustin on 911 conspiracies: reddit.com/r/thrice/comments/k8ugu/dustin_discusses_911_conspiracies_2008/

  • It's definitely about 9/11, but I doubt it's in support of the 9/11 truthers. "Is that what we meant when we said we never would forget," is most likely a reference to the wars that have followed. The story we all got afterwards was that Iraq was preparing a massive attack on us. That was shown to be a lie. I think that's a much more plausible interpretation. then again, we should probably ask Dustin if he's a truther...

  • @etchkid He thinks we were lied to. Said there are too many holes and cover-ups to look the other way, but thinks people should avoid "the wackier theories". "I think that David Ray Griffin's book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions" is a good place to start to learn about the many problems with the official story." -"If I'm wrong, thank God, but I will act on my beliefs until I have evidence of their falsehood. I will gladly look the fool, to know I am not a coward. "

  • Ugh. Y u so perfect Thrice?

  • I love the drum and the xylophone part! Also love the little guitar delay at 1:09.

  • Comment removed

  • Who cares if he has what people think this song has references to the Bible, it may, it may not, either way im a complete athiest and think the bibles a crock of shit, but it has some positive messages on morality/life in it so feel free to reference it... but it also has some negatives... mainly in regards to developmentally disabled and homosexuals.

  • Love this song....i believe this song is about how it is believed that the government set up 9/11 themselves and was an inside job. Watch the movie "loose change" if your're skeptical

  • @drumpunk41 That's an odd interpretation...

  • @etchkid thats what is about..... what other interpretations are there?

  • The fact that Kensrue uses a reference to Acts 9:18 in this song does not make it religious. Like a lot of his songs, he adds scripture and theology to make his points The whole point is that for the first time we were able to see clearly what was really going on....like Paul. Instead of arguing about whether it is a secular or christian song..how bout praising the fact that we have a singer songwriter that can assimilate the two beautifully.

  • this song since the first time i heard it,I've interpreted it as a tribute to 9/11,i dont see how this is bible related at all knowing that thrice is not a religious band

  • Good Sing *-*! I love Thrice

  • A loved everything about thrice for years, but during/after Vheissue i didnt listen for years... cant explain why! but rediscovered them about 6 months ago... been rationing their albums since then, finally bought 3 & 4 today. AMAZING. cant wait for beggars and new lp this summer.

  • thrice FOREVER! <3

  • thrice forever!!!!!!!!! <3

  • 1 jizzed and pressed the wrong thumb, when he/she heard this =)

  • Now my favourite Thrice song. A lot of truth behind the lyrics too.

  • Yea!! rock that xylophone

  • THESE GUYS ARE BADASS

  • Teppie is the fuckin man.

  • There needs to be the Oooooooooooo's in the chorus please! someone notice?

  • @AudioCentrix I know what you mean, but it would be pointless to perform the song live, EXACTLY the way it's played on the album. If you want the album version, the CD will always be there :)

  • I love how Teppei has his own little studio within the studio...such a genius!

  • This song IS about 9/11. Yes there are biblical references but the meaning behind the song is that they lied to us about 9/11 and the majority of Americans accepted their story as truth instead of looking into it for themselves.

  • @SVENxEDGE +1!

  • @SVENxEDGE It's not that they lied, but exploited our fear in the face of 9/11. They used 9/11 as a way of justifying their invasion of foreign countries and declaring preemptive war.

  • THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING,.... I've never heard of thrice nor listened to them .... but i'm just so impressed right now. Wow.

  • @ipodvidoe try to keep it clean bro. God Bless (:

  • Personally sometimes i think its a slap in the face of the American economics and also revenge for the gulf war because the Americans made so much money out of it, its like the saying blood for oil. That's my opinion

  • Rock that xylophone

  • @Frankaaaaaa - No xylophone here. :) That's a glockenspiel. Also pretty commonly called "bells."

  • @letsargueyaaaay

    Rock that glockenspiel!

(that sounds dirty, 'cause in dutch, they call balls 'klokkenspel' )

  • @bernie16wb I never said it was an inside job i said the official story isn't true, and it is not, and that is exactly what Dustin said in an interveiw i watched, an inside job is just one possibility

  • 9/11 = inside job.

    "Are we fools and cowards

To let them cover up their lies

As we all watched the buildings fall

And watched the scaled fall from our eyes"

  • OMG Thrice is so freaking amazing! They're even more amazing live! And you don't see that very often! :D

  • Might be time to touch up the paint on your geetarz

  • Beautiful song. If people were more interested in bands and songs like this instead of "Paparazzi" or the like, humans could continue down our path of evolution, instead of getting stuck in the mud of what we call "Modern Society" where people can't seem to avert their minds from Sports or Video Games for more than a week. If their lucky

  • eddie's face at the outro is reminiscent of the proverbial kid in a candy shop. fucking beautiful

  • @Charredmonolith thats riley..

  • i know Teppei is using a Bassman.. but whats the other amp? Looks like a Vox but its hard to tell without the name on the front.

both sound so sick on this cd.

  • @modnarm Pretty sure it's a Vox AC30.

  • I love Thrice and I love this song, but at the same time it concerned me that this is a song about a 9/11 cover up essentially. I give credit to Dustin and co. regarding the emotion and talent of this song but I do have to disagree with it at the same time. I still love the rest of their work and it in no way hinders how I feel about the band in general.

  • @rowellas Not about a 9/11 cover up. About how we let the government use our fear and worry to sell us bullshit wars and legislation that stripped away our rights (Patriot Act). That's why we're "Fools and cowards all".

Or at least that's how I see it.

  • @bernie16wb Dustin said in an interview that this song was specifically about how the full truth about 9/11 has not been told to us. What you said is also relevant though, some people believe 9/11 took place in order to pass the patriot act it's a very interesting topic I recommend researching it by watching "In plane sight" and reading "The 9/11 Commission: Omissions and Distortions" by David Ray Griffin. It becomes very clear the whole story has not been told at the least...

  • @duduhead5000

9/11 was not an inside job. That's crazy talk. However, the fear and anger felt after 9/11 was used to sell us bad legislation and wars we probably didn't really want.

  • @bernie16wb you really havent done any research, youre telling me you take bush's word for this??? look into the history of ALL of our wars, there was ALWAYS a predetermined event to sway the opinion of the public into supporting a war..dont believe what the govt tells you learn for yourself. it really is not crazy talk when you think about how much money a very select group of people are making from this war.

  • The beginning of this song reminds me of Let Down by Radiohead.

  • Best. Band. Ever!!!!

  • its just me or the intro sounds like "let down" of radiohad?

  • unemployed samurai.

  • 3:33 that guy looks like hes having fun

  • It seems to me along with the biblical undertones, the songs seems to be about the 9/11 cover up. Does Dustin believe that 9/11 was an inside job? It's an interesting thought about the song i think.

Dustin is a very good song writer Im not a christian but i still listen to Thrice because they play good music.

  • @chuck41389 sounds very possible

  • Such a great song. The Alchemy Index was amazing. Glad to see there are truthers out there who can rock.

    "We want justice,

    Scream from the Roof,

    We want Justice

    We want the Truth!!"

  • whoever mixed this performance is pretty amazing

  • best band in the world

  • ZACK GALIFIANAKIS!!

  • this song must be dedicated to all the 9/11 victims... rest in peace.

  • as much as i love this song, i dont think it should be dedicated to the victims : X

  • very intelligent..

  • 3:12 lol. someones enjoying himself... and so would I if i helped write and played drums to a song like that :-)

  • Awesome song, great band.

  • "and watched the scales fall from our eyes" is a reference to Acts 9:18 in which Saul (soon to be paul) has his sight healed by the Lord.

"And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized."

    Acts 9:18

  • he was just telling you, no need to be rude.

  • Thanks for the reference. Was wondering about that.

  • @72fenderbender a friend once told me this was about 9/11. and how about it could have all been a lie. "scales fall from our eyes" like crocodile tears. but i wouldn't doubt there are bible references. i still love them :)

  • @72fenderbender i thought it was about 9/11

  • @cades1100 - It probably is, but the biblical reference is still most likely intentional.

  • @72fenderbender scales falling from the eyes is just an expression. Dustin doesn't relate EVERYTHING in his song to the bible. This song is clearly about 9/11 and is more political/social than religious. Use your brains, people.

  • @snowskateskate People are using their brains (you are too, but you need to use it a little more :P). 72fenderbender only mentioned that that ONE line was a REFERENCE, not that the entire song was all about one passage in the bible.

Not all of Thrice is as religious as Dustin, but they let him write the lyrics that he does because he can always write things that can be interpreted in at LEAST two different ways; religiously or by some other means.

  • @72fenderbender :) Never ceases to amaze me about Paul's story of transformation.

  • i love to listen the volume III when i go to sleep. it's really awesome and relaxing

  • thrice is incredible, theres nothing left to say after that. absolutely incredible songwriters

  • esta canción es perfecta! <3

  • THRICE FOR LIFE

  • rip 9-11 friends and family

  • perfect song for today! rip 9-11 victims. 8 years and will never will forget....

  • rileys very talented

    they all are

  • awesome.

  • in my mind even with there new stuff thrice still has that hardcore punk in them

  • how?

  • holy shit this was an incredible performance

  • wow. what a moving amazing song. thrice never cease to amaze me.

  • 3:33 lol!

  • why is that funny?

  • Just the face that he makes. I found it amusing.

  • all of the first responders who are now getting sick and dying from breathing in the super fine concrete dust have "broken lungs" now and they are getting denied health care benefits...

  • fucking brilliant

  • song is about 9/11.

    "fire burns beneath Manhattan"

"we said we would never forget" and we never forgot 9/11

i like it when teppei plays the instrument that looks like a xylophone .its a powerful song. i love it :]

"we all watched the buildings fall"

  • teppei's the shit

  • lol @ teppei playing bells

  • riley's smooooooth

  • it bums me out that they used 911 but the end of this song is sweet especially the end

  • We will never forget...

  • Breathing with broken lungs is a metaphor...

  • there are people today still with lung problems caused from the ashes and dust that filled the air.

    could be a metaphor?

  • this songs about 9/11 huh?i think it issss.all the first responders lungs basically were broken with that toxic dust.man, thrice is always so deep.

  • I never realized that until you pointed it out...adds a whole new weight to the song. Thanks, and yeah Thrice is mega deep...definitley one of the best bands of our time

  • yah, like when he says "Cuz we all watched the buildings fall", its about the World Trade Center Towers. Such an amazing song by an amazing band

  • yah its about 9/11 being a conspiracy by the government, when it says "Are we fools and cowards all, to let them cover up their lies"

He is talking about the conspiricy theory that the government plotted it all, or didnt react strongly enough when they found out about it

  • they didn't react strongly enough. they knew about al qaeda having terrorists learning how to fly planes, but they needed a new "evil."

  • i love how teppei's playing the bells

  • lol yeah it rocks how he just stops playing guitar and starts tapping away.

  • amaaazing

  • perfect

  • how'd you get this so fast!? its great!
