@jam9297 Man that's just something you'd have to try, its probably stabilized somehow so it's not that sensitive. I was thinkin the same thing a while back about the nitro tablets they had. Allright here's my guess.all of the ratio's for acids on the nitro synths on the internet are wrong, therefore before i knew i made 75% nitroglycerin and the other 25% was regular glycerin, it was much much harder to set off,im guessing that's probably what the nitro mist is.Just get some and try it

@334683171014 If you're following any of the 1970-90s manuals and just mixing A and B to make C, learn real chemistry for a few years and then laugh at how dangerous (to the user) those "cook books" are.  If you got this equation wrong, just think of the mistakes you don't know you made. I'm sure you've read about that kid on roguesci that turned himself into a pink mist doing something not unlike what you just described right? If not PM and I'll link you some interesting stuff.

@BigBananaMan To be dead honest i really don't know what your talking about...Anyways i know chemistry pretty well and as far as explosives synthesis goes most of them really aren't hard, yeah there are bad cook books, but i don't just go by a cook book, i fully understand the reaction and the chemicals before i mess with them, i know a lot about the acids and all the materials used in them. If you really understand your chemistry then I apologise but it seemed like you were making some potentially fatal mistakes by "not knowing" something or being able to calculate it.

I've had fun making a little KClO3 and then Cheddite and the most fun was actually understanding what the atoms were doing(admittedly not at an electron level) and confirming it. I'll never make a blasting cap or do any real chemistry because I'm not smart enough to learn chemistry, I know my bounds.

I've made nitro many times and it's a pretty forgiving compound, you don't have to have your ratio's dead on, see mono nitro glycerides and di nitro glycerides dissolve in the water when you're washing it, therefore you're left with only the tri nitro's, it's like yeah you cant just dump the nitric, sulfuric and glycerin together all at once, it will result in an explosion or a runaway

@Megabine Solid explosives are much more useful than liquids in large charges as liquids are meant to be absorbed or plasticised. Nitroglycerin isn't dangerous as movies portray; I've never been able to set it off by dropping it. If you want to blow up a house, use something less brisant like ANFO.

To make nitrogen tri iodide is real easy.Need iodine crystals and ammonia..Pour ammonia into beaker , cup , whatever.Pour iodine crystals in to leave a layer of iodine.Leave for a few minutes.Pour the mix onto fiter; blotting paper and let the residue dry.When dry it can even explode by itself, very unstable.

It's been my understanding that nitroglycerin is used to make dynamite. Nitroglycerin is not used in any stage of creating TNT, which is a different explosive from dynamite.
