I gotta say ... using puppets to replace faustus ? using puppets to replace other humans while using clay to replace the devil yet who also appears as puppet ? a puppet without facial expression at that ... this is not cool imho especially when you could see the hands of the puppet maker ...

the whole thing reminded me of monty python yet I know they were being series so :(

Yes. I watched this film without shrooms and it did not make since. I decided to watch it one nite in the late stages of a shroomertrip and now its one of my favorite films. This is my favorite Svankmajer film for sure.

Jan is a god but his marketeers have ripped us off by making only the English audio widely available. The original Czech audio is better. I can post the audio and sub files if anybody wants em. And yes I'd love to see a fight between Gothe and Marlowe fans.. but I dont think you could have one of them with out the other :)
