Wow, I think you missed the point. The main character hates what is happening and even goes to assist when a Viet Kong soldier is wounded which ends in his death. He forgets the side he is fighting for and remembers that we are all human. I am all for ending racism and hate stereotyping and simplifications but if you are going to really endracism guy, you should get your head straight and not attack people who agree with you.

the beginning reminds me of the time when my dad told me a story about his 2 friends hunting during college. one of his friends saw a deer and thought his other friend was behind him and just as he shot, the other guy came out of nowhere and the shot gun pellets killed his buddy instantly. Those darn hunting accidents.
