  • Sinatra entertainer 40's. Elvis entertainer 50's. Beatles band of 60's. Led Zep band of 70's. Michael Jackson entertainer 80's. Garth Brookes entertainer 90's. Beatles most successful and influential. Stones deserve title greatest rock n roll band. The Who greatest live band. Led Zep most popular. Most overated Nirvana. Biggest dickhead Kurt Cobain. Personal favorite The Who.

  • to me,

    bonham over moon

    page over townshend

    plant over daltrey

    and enwistle over jpj

but i mean man its close for all of those.

to me zeppelin is well above the who. but i dont know. their all great. man tho, plants voice is like a whole nother instrement. like listen to the battle of evermore. and his voice is sick inthat song.

  • anyway, they're both unique singers from two of the best rock bands ever

  • If it were the Who vs. Zep, Id say Robert Plant was the better vocalist, John Entwistle was the better bassist, Jimmy Page was the better guitarist, and Keith moon was the better drummer.

  • i take exception to the last one. keith moon died with a fraction of his abilities. whereas bohnam was still @ the top of his game. its a mute point anyway. there is no "best". its band chemistry, success, and peer influence that makes one great! zep was the best ensemble band in rock. period. why all of this "my guy is better than your guy"?

  • normally id agree with your last statement, but this video IS daltrey vs plant XD.

  • you are correct...i guess some people are more passionate about other people's accomplishments than others.

  • Daltrey is a better frontman than Plant. Townshend is a better all around singer/songwriter/musician/entertainer/ than Page. Townshend can play ANY instrument perferctly. I am not disputing guitar playing as Pete says Page can play better.

  • i love both bands. Roger just sounds more manly. Robert at times in his own words "makes me wonder"

  • Obviusly robert is better than roger, there's no doubt about it, maybe roger has a little better voice, but plant has a lot of feeling on the stage and on the records too, but i'm sorry guys FREDDIE MERCURY IS THE BEST no one can sings like him, on the stage and everywhere

  • yah Freddie is absolutely amazing but theres no way plant has more felling than daltrey listen to love reign o'er me or see me feel me

  • come on, what's wrong with you people? plant can't even sing his own songs in tune, just listen to live at the bbc... and yes he sings like a girl. is that what blues is about? Quadrophenia can beat the crap out of zeppelin's best any time. and don't you dare say plant's better than freddie: plant would sell his soul to be able to sing like him on Innuendo album, when he was on his dying bed.and who would say that JPJ is better than Entwistle? have you ever heard them play???? roger is the best

  • where did Plant get that little girls shirt? (Song Remains The Same)

  • hey hey its savanadanadana...i can tell a half witted rant anywhere! you may have changed your tag but its still the same tired "my guy is better than your guy" dribble...commieobama sav alama ding dong: get a life and stop boring us already...

  • listen to Live At Leeds! case closed!

  • I love them both but Plant is number one.

  • ROGER SUCKS

  • roger sucks he was losing from head to toe

and robert plants is still heard and he is the LEGEND ROBERT PLANTS WIN AND ONLY OLD PEOPLE HEAR TO ROGER THATS WHY HE ALSO SUCKS IM A NEW GEN BOY BUT STILL LIKE LED ZEPPELIN ROBERT AND JIMMY WINS LED ZEPPELIN IS TOP BAND IN THIS WORLD NO ROGER RASCAL.ROBERT PLANTS WIN.

  • Roger Daltrey wins from head to toe

Roger Daltrey is No.1, and nobody comes 2nd, 3rd or ...

  • Robert Plant. NO CONTEST!!! Robert can actually sing. Roger doesn't have the necessary vocal cadences to be considered a "good" singer.

  • Where are you from? Roger is considered to be one of the greatest frontmen in rock with a great voice. Plant is a great singer and Led Zep is a great studio band but on stage Plant and Zep can't cut it. The Who and Roger are known for live performance.

  • Roger. Roger. Roger. Plant was supposed to be a pop singer as a career, and just got spotted by Page. Roger was a sheet metal worker who pushed his way into a band. I think that has got to say something about them as singers. Plant sounds like a girl half the time. Roger will for a long time epitomize the absolute rock star. An icon of an era devoted to rock and roll.

  • plant sometimes looks like a fag, that's right... daltrey "epitomized the rock star" (maybe)

that has not to do with singing better...

  • You should of put the 20 second scream from Kashmir, beautiful and incredible, no one can do that! And the scream from Immigrant song! You put the scream from Won't get fooled again...

  • at there peaks i go with Plant

  • Wow, tough one. Gotta go with Daltrey. Sounds like a man,m but can be vulnerable as well. Robert sounds like a girl and a wuss when you listen next to Daltrey. i disagree that this was tilted toward Roger. All of the best vocals from zep where used and they had color photos to boot. All of the WHO photos were b&w

  • amazing video! i love both bands, and it's a harsh decision. sorry to all Zep fans out there for what i'm about to say, but even if the Zep part could have been better, Robert can't match Roger... same as Jones and Bonham can't quite match the Ox and Moon. i'll have to agree with fallenleaf25, Freddie was THE frontman, and 'innuendo' deserved better than Robert's im-screechin-like-a-dying-dog-and-i-dont-remember-the-bloody-lyrics performance at the tribute concert. long live the Who and Zep!

  • individually, EACH AND EVERY member of Zep is superior to the Who (I love the Who, but lets be honest)...

Plant SUCKS when he sings Innuendo, that's true... and Daltrey's cover of I Want It All was fantastic (probably one of the 3 best performances of the tribute, if not the best)...

But still, listen to the original albums and the good Zep concerts.. in each one's own arena, with each one's own music, Plant is far better than Daltrey

  • Moonie a better drummer than Bonzo. Entwistle better bass player than JPJ. Daltrey better front man than the fairy Plant who acts like a woman (check out Song Remains The Same), Townshend all around singer/songwriter/musician/performer over Page. Zep live can't cut it.

  • although I don't agree, I understand that we argue about the who and zeppelin... but townshend better performer than page??!! come on...

as for being frontman, I also think daltrey is better than plant, but plant is a better SINGER

  • Omg the Led Zep selection truly sucks... it seems like the author of the vid wanted us to vote for Daltrey ^^... Daltrey is truly awesome, unique. But Plant is a god.

  • You truly think that? Personally I don't think either one is a god, Freddie Mercury is probably the closet to a god (But I do like Daltrey better).

  • I insist... Since I've Been Loving You and Dazed and Confused are enough to kill Daltrey.. FALLENLEAF: I haven't listened to Daltrey's cover of Kashmir and probably Plant shouldn't Baba O'Riley, but that has nothing to do... Plant is the best rock/blues singer ever (in that specific genre, I would even say better than Mercury)

  • Robert has a smooth, powerful voice. They're both great singers but Plant wins

  • the who and zeppelin had alot of similarities in their bands, including two maniac drummers who both died of alcoholism. and two great guitarists, two curly blonde haired frontmen, solid bass players and both had keyboards and harmonica.....

  • They were both just as good singers as each other, I think. They had the same vocal ability. Its just a matter of personal opinion of who's voice sounds better to you.

I prefer Plants so much more.

  • Roger is awesome... Plant is God

Plant's songs selection is very "poor"... Listen to Dazed and Confused, Since I've Been Loving You, Kashmir, Whole Lotta Love, In My Time of Dying, Rock n Roll... I think the first two would have been enough to decide this "battle"..

  • If either of these two gentlemen weren't around or hadn't come along, the world would be a sadder place fot it ay?

  • RD made more progress as a rock singer over the years, and there's something threatening abt his stage presence. RP has more of a chanting voice with a stronger higher register, which befits the supernatural atmosphere of Led Zep's best songs.

  • i think roger has a more melodic voice but i love both of them

  • i personaly think robert plant is a better singer. i love both the who and led zep but i just prefer plant.

  • My opinion is that the who is a better band, Plant is a better singer but Daltrey is a better front man and has a way better scream.(If you think I'm kidding play 7:30 to the end of Won't Get Fooled Again about five times and then listen to love reign o'er me.

  • Kiss and ABBA are and were popular mate.

  • Plant is greatest of all time, but Roger is not bad neither.

  • better singer is plant

better frontman is... i dunno, both good

    better band is zeppelin

  • The Zep song you picked for 1973 is actually from 1975's Physical Graffiti. Whoops, eh?

Anyway, Love Reign O'er Me seals it for me. I like Robert Plant's finesse, but Daltrey's pure rock power floors me. Better frontman, too.

  • These comparision things are as ridiculous as the BS Top 100 or whatevers. Daltrey and Plant are two completely different singers. Daltrey is Who power. Plant is Zep finesse. Both perfect. Can you imagine Plant singing Baba O'Riley or Daltrey doing Kashmir? Point made.

  • Actually Daltrey did do a cover of Kashmir, with Ann Wilson (the singer for Heart). It ain't half bad.

I dunno about Plant doing a cover of Baba O'Riley though...

  • I just heard the cover by Daltrey and Ann Wilson... it's fine

But Plant sings Kashmir much better than both of them together!

  • They are both equal in my eyes. Legends.

  • Funny...some Daltrey fan said that Plant has a better selection in this clip (so his voice "seems to be" better). But many Plant fans say that this clip doesn't quite show-off Plant's voice...So, I wonder, what would that Daltrey fan do if he would listen to that lousey record at Gonzaga University in '68...probabilly he would fall down from his chair...

  • hard to say both are great in their own style

  • Robert Plant is cool, but Roger Daltrey wins hands down! Nothing can beat that raw scream at the end of "Won't Get Fooled Again"!

  • Love both of them-hard to compare...hmm..the Who hit big when the Stones did-really incomparable but both are outstanding in their own style/genre. Neither have easy songs to sing either...it's a toss up!

  • sorry robert but... i'll go for roger but don't get me wrong your great still!

  • According to recent rolling stone (gag) mag poll of industry people Robert Plant is #15 and Daltrey #61 on the list of the 100 best singers of all time. WTF? Freddie Mercury is #18??

  • I don't really care about order...but Mercury should be in the top ten and Plant and Daltrey should be very close to him!

  • I am a huge Who fan but going by the albums I would have to give th edge to Plant. That being said, anybody who has seen them both live knows the Who is a better live band and Plant likes to get lost in his oohs and aahs.

  • Mr. Daltrey, no questions asked......

  • Hats off to (Robert) Plant

  • Hats off to (Robert) Plant

  • robert plant is the best!

  • robert plant #1

  • Robert hands down!!!!

  • First of all i love both these bands pretty much equally on my list of bands the who and led Zepellin are both in contention for my three and four spots (pink floyd is no 1 and the beatles are no 2) but I think in the early careers plant was better, for the middle careers, daltry was better then after quadrophenia, plant took back over again with songs like achilles last stand and nobody's fault but mine.

  • Robert Plant easily....

  • daltrey

  • Daltrey all the way

  • i got nothing but love for roger and the who but Led Zeppelin and Robert is just the greatest

  • .:Roger Daltrey:. ALL The MOTHER FUCKING WAY!!! he's the shit and he's a beat talented great live and was a true rock 'n rolla! STILL IS

the B.A.'ist trout farmer ever! |THE WHO^| !ROX!

  • I'm not sure who to pick. I'd probably pick Daltrey mainly because Robert isn't all that great of a live performer. He sings too low way too many times and his voice has pretty much reached its peak.

  • Plant was actually Pete Townshend's first choice for a singer for The Who, but he was taken by Led Zeppelin, so Pete settled for the next best thing: Roger Daltrey.

  • actually the who was rogers band first he was the lead guitarist then pete joined because john said that he would only join if pete came too then they fired their singer and roger took over vocals : )

  • Not true....the Detours (later the Who) was formed by Daltrey.

But there is the story that as Jimmy Page's group The Yardbirds was changing its lineup, Page suggested Entwistle and Moon should leave the ever-feuding Who and form a group with him and Jeff Beck. Moon (some say Entwistle) is credited with commenting "that will go over like a lead balloon. (Entwistle's term for a bad gig)" Later Led Zeppelin was formed.

  • I like both singers.

  • Except maybe Freddy Mercury. I'd say he and these two were probably the best rock singers ever.

  • true. forgot about him.

  • Okay, I'm going out on a limb here, but personally Roger's the better one for more depth of character in his singing (check out his amazing covers of Leo sayer's "Giving it all away" or Murray Head's "say it ain't so joe"). Also the who had more relevant songs, sorry zep-fans, Pete is a far better songwriter. I have to add I have both bands' complete discography, I'm a fan of both :-)

  • yeah,,but what about those pants plant was wearing in song remains the same..i have nightmares about that present in his pants staring at me..dont watch it on a 50 inch t.v.good god!lol!

    ROGER IS THE MANNNNNNNNNNNNN!

  • check out the who . com for a complete song list of last nights show

  • The Who can still rock. If you have never seen The Who you need to check them out before it all ends. Roger is still the man on stage. Zep is a great studio band but live they can't cut it like The Who. I have seen both. Zep once and Page and Plant and The Who 30 times. Last night was almost as good as the other 29 shows.

  • love them both but i vote daltrey in the samples here i think plant has the better selection so if i was a stranger to the music and only had them to go on i might have picked plant

  • But he wasn't that good of a singer, but he was a great frontman. I'll give you that.

  • Noooo, he was a great singer , a real voice he was human, the voice of a guy who has the balls to stand up to the bullshit that flys all around us. His voice is great.

  • personally, i prefer robert plant. his voice has a way bigger vocal range, but he sorta lost his voice around 75, but in the reunion, he sang kashmir amazingly, so idk... but led zeppelin kills the who, no offence to any who fans

  • i love them both but i gotta vote plant

  • GO WHO FANS! Roger was the greatest and the BEST live! All who songs have a different ring to them

because alot of zeppelin songs have a repetitive sound but not all of them.

  • Daltrey gets my vote. He is amazing live.

Annd his hair is soo much better, and daltrey is plain gorgeous.

    Rock on the who!

  • Tommy hair FTW

  • Plant all the way! i mean i love te who also but Zeppelin i have to say are my top fav

  • PLANT!XD

    well for me :)

  • By the way, Plant gets the vote for me, and Im a die hard Who fan.

  • Is this really a contest? A deeper and limited vocal range (Daltrey) vs. a higher and more versatile voice (Plant). And doesn't Daltrey lose his voice every few shows anyway?

  • Plant was ceap from 73 onwards, but before that he was better than Daltrey, Daltrey only lost his voice in the last few years.

  • Daltrey is so aggressive and Plant so relaxed its hard to pick a winner, but since I don't like Plant as much, I'll say Daltrey.

  • the who sang about alot of cheesy shit...and led..was way betta..^_^

  • danzigisjebus have you ever listen to Quadrophenia cheesy shit yah right!!!!!

  • Townshend's lyrics are, for the most part, rooted in reality (uncertainty, angst, cynicism, legacy of WWII in Britian) as opposed to Zep's sometimes airy-fairy mystical stuff or their penchant to imitate Chicago blues. Neither is inherently cheesy...both have their merits.

  • you are so right

  • You're fucking crazy

  • cheesy? Most of the WHO's stuff was FAR from cheezy and very heartfelt, Pete Townshend was/is an amazing writer and Roger sings his songs amazingly. Even though I love Led Zeppelin, I think the Who is just better to me, and Rogers voice can give me the chills. Plus WHO does way better live performances...

as mentioned: did you not hear the "YEEEEEEAHHHH" roger does. cmon

  • Wenindoubtukisscraig you are so right

  • robert..!

  • i love roger

but led zeppelin is my fave band, the who is second. I love Robert Plant

i think its almost a tie, robert wins for me

  • I thought this would be a video of Plant and Daltrey actually FIGHTING, not comparing their voices! They're both two of the greatest singers the world has ever known, but who could actually win a street fight?

  • daltrey would win the street fight im not saying that plant is a wimp or anything but just look a daltrey

  • I agree. In a street fight, Daltrey. But in an organized boxing match, Plant might get him.

But what happens when Brian Johnson enters the mix?

  • organized boxing max. Roger daltrey would end them all.

There is a story that pete townshend and roger were arguing, pete smacked him across the head with his electric guitar. Roger Turned around and knocked him out cold with a single punch. Plant would probably try to throw his bracelets and necklaces and daltrey in a fight.

  • yah you are right that would be funny :D

  • Townshend also kicked Jimmy Pages ass one day because Jimmy was bragging he played lead on Can't Explain which is false Jimmy played rythym and Townshend clocked him and sent Jimmy Page on his way crying. This was in the mid 60's. Page and Townshend don't like each other the rest of Zep and Who are/were best friends.

  • Liar.

  • LMAO yeah, dude Daltrey was STRONG.

  • I agree with lonelyboy... Plant wins for better voice. Roger sounds Mick Jagger on crack compared to Robert.

  • Roger rules! HE gets my vote. Just listen to Love Reign Over Me.

  • I love both..because I like so much the Who and Led zeppelin..the choice is difficult!! :)

uhm..voices I think are the same quality; I mean, when I listen the who maybe Roger has a strenght voice, but Robert is pure emotions... for the rest...Robert Plant is soooo sexy.....

Sorry Roger but my vote is for Robert! :) who wins??

  • Both of them would have been nothing but sheet metal workers, had it not been for Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page.

  • All these ppl pickin daltrey shhhitt plant is everlasting daltrey is a fantastic powerful voice but my god plants voice is amazing and will get any guy laid well not every guy but ask urself this whose voice would i rather have myself? PLANT

  • If I could mesh the two...That would be the answer. You can't compare the two. Daltrey's power and strength. Plant's Emotion

  • Yeah, now you´ve finally put me out of my misery ...what an exact information... thanx

  • Robbie of course. Full package, wink wink.

  • daltrey wins! check my video response

  • What a competition! My favourite is Plant.. Does anybody know the actual score? Like who is the actual winner of the battle? :)

  • I thing Roger is better...

  • i love Plant and Daltrey, as I love The Who and Led Zeppelin, but I must say voice wise, Roger wins, he has so much power and range and he can scream to make the other part of the world hear. Did you not here the "YEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!"

    comeon, that is just.. WOW

  • Plant can scream like daltrey...... and also i will agree that Plant and Janis Joplin are alot alike.

  • ROBERT PLANT WINS EVERY TIME!!! ;D Rock on

(i have to admit though, Roger does have some talent,)

  • Both are great but Plant is to girlie and dressed like a little sissy in many of his early concerts and I guess he was told to stop looking like a 12 yr. old girl if Zepp wanted to sell records in the U.S..............

  • you just have no taste in music. Robert Plant Rocks.

  • Roger Daltrey is great, but Robert Plant is even greater. Somehow, Led Zeppelin seems more eternal.

It could be that deal with the devil they made...

  • er....and...were is freddy mercury? -.-

  • oh shit dude, who's next vs IV. Could it be the most difficult thing to ever choose between? I think yes.

  • Plant's singing is on a different level; it's like the screaming banshees of Scottish/Welsh fame. Supernatural in some ways.

  • apples and oranges... thank God for both of them1

  • yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

    Roger!

although I like Led Zeppelin even more, but Roger have a more soul than plant! also he is very great guy with great sense of humor!

if somebody don't like this opinion, I don't care because this video is made to be arguing who is better, lol

  • always daltrey for me, i just can find a better singer... next for me would be eddie vedder from pear jam :)

  • robert plants so fuckin hot...well in his prime

  • daltrey has one of the greatest screams in rock and roll history!!!!!!

    yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • Hmm... I seem to have made a mistake on my last comment, He said Physical Graffiti and Presence :P I didn't notice. But still, Presence was released in 1977 I believe :)

  • WAIT! You played "Achilles Last Stand" and said it was off of "Physical

Graffiti". "Achilles Last Stand" was in fact off of "Presence".

  • PLANT ALL THE WAY, i dont know how there is even a comparison to be made there
