In uk tea tends to be of the black leaf type,we have tea bags, put one in a cup in the cup ,add hot water ,then leave for about 3 minutes ,take the tea bag out,add milk and sugar to taste.
Green tea tends to be for the health conscious and as an aid to lose weight.
In old London ''Cockney ''rhyming slang'' the word is replaced with one that ''rhyms'' with it ,the word ''a cup of tea'' is changed to ' A cup of Rosy Lea''
She being a Famous musical hall singer of the time !!
Well I think that most people tend to use teabags here in uk. There are many brands,I like PG Tips, but its nice to have a change now and then . You can put the teabag in a pot and brew it ,but mostly you just put the bag in the cup, pour boiled water on it and leave for aprox 2 to 3 minutes, according to taste .Then take the bag out,add the milk ( produced by cows ) ,again to if you like strong or milky tea,and usually add sugar to taste. Young people often like lots of sugar !!
English styleTea is on average something like £3 to £4 for 160 bags which are used just the once then disposed off. After seeing your video I have now decided to buy some green tea myself to try,it seems like it may have some health benifits ,good for the heart etc,but I wont give up my English tea,its so nice and tasty, love it !!
@lovemetu Thank you for your reply,I understood ! Yes,I have heard for some foreign perople the taste of the green tea is not good at all...I hope you will like it.By the way I love English tea too,I drink it very often(though without milk and sugar) !
Yes ,normally we would find that strange in Uk drinking English tea without milk, have you ever tried it with milk ,or is milk something you do not drink in your food diet ?
@lovemetu Yes of course i tried to drink tea with milk and sugar, but it was not my taste...Usually I never drink milk by cow because my body doesn't want to drink it...
Alas I have found out that ''Rosy Lea'' was not a famous music hall singer,I was told that when I was young but on research that does not seem true, seems the cockneys just said that because it ryhmed with ''cup of tea''
Cockney slang is another long subject so wont go into that too much here today !!
Most interesting - so orderly! I was treated to a tea-drinking ceremony in the middle of an examining day in Hita (I think), but I'm sure a brush and some bright green powder were used - maybe a different kind of tea/ceremony?
@paulprocopolis Yes,that powdered green tea with using a brush is called "maccha",it is also sort of green tea but it's more special tea.Basically Japanese people don't drink Maccha in daily life.Green tea that I uploaded is more for daily life !
Uresii that your mother taught me this method, I use it every evening to make the very fine Yame green tea that I brought from my visit, and the taste is really excellent! Now I know that the secret is to cool down the water to appr. 70 degrees... But I can see that she makes it a little stronger (three tea spoons)...
@pianopera I asked to my mother why she used three tea spoons, then she said it's the same amount that she taught you ! It seems just she couldn't scoop enough first :-D
@HorstRolande Thank you for your comment :-) I think that green tea with"popcorn"was probably called"Genmaicha"(it means brown rice tea),but not really"Sencha".It's a mix of sencha and "poprice" from the brown rice.I drink brown rice tea very often, too !
