It's spelt "bananeira". If you're starting out, a good tip is to try balancing next to a wall, then when you're used to that, try it without leaning against the wall, but have a friend help you balance while you're handstanding.
@AdoreALGERIA just wanted to tell u that in capoeira it doesnt matter ur size . U just need perseverance and on day ull do it. Dont forget to go easy and ur arms gonna be much fuerte the more u practise. thats gonna help for other moves.
how do you maintain such good balance, ive been doing capoeira for over a year and i can do the bananera but with the hands and head...i can even lower the feet and kick up hard enough to flip onto my feet, but when on the hands alone trying to put the legs straight in front of you (like an inverte and not v shaped) exerts an incredible force on your lower back and straight down your arms...ive even done it against a wall and when you "lock in" i cant stand the force for about 4 seconds max :S
..and do not forget on the bananera: look on your opponent...don't watch on the ground! That's what most of the people do...handstand and watchin on the ground...bananera is a little bit more difficult cause of this...
@saudadespraque Oh that ? that's one of those Smoke detector things , it makes that beep everytime , I use to hear that shit in the projects back in New York RoFL brings out memories. It's annoying though
My advice is to learn how to do a closed handstand (with your legs tightly packed) because that's a real Capoeira handstand because it allows for both defence and offence... after you can do it closed, when you extend your legs it will be very very easy to keep control... I personally tend to grab and push my opponents legs into a cartwheel when they extend they're legs to show they left themselves open. Like everything in life, practice is the key.
lol im not very balanced either way. my arms and shoulders arent strong enough for me to walk for a long time but i can definitly walk on my hands. i can stand in one place for maybe 10 seconds at the most
try it against a wall for help I take capoeria and thats how they taught me so try it like that then try it away from the wall and youll see the differnce
Hey, thanks for the info. I actually got this good advice from someone else awhile back, while I was still practicing capoeira. Have gotten injured in the meantime and never returned. Good luck with your practice, have fun and be safe!
damn that is so good. i'm going to practice now

i can only walk on my hands. I have to be in motion to keep my balance. A straight handstand is pretty hard, but its only about training.

I watch these sitting half naked in my chair listening to E Samba by Junior Jack. It's a good way to get into the Capoeira feel.

how do u keep youre self from moving too much i can hold handstand pretty long but i have to move do i just train my core more or something??
facelessProdigy 2 years ago
From doing yoga I would assume you are using your whole body. Your back, abs, arms, shoulders, legs. Things only get easier as you practice them.

thats great thanks to you teach i can hold my handstands for at least ten seconds it really helps

I was nicknamed bannana tree because when i do Bananera the top of my legs slowly fall down to my back so I look kinda like half a banana tree :P

LOL thank god yo
I'm busting my back trying to stand for 10 seconds
BUT NEVERTHELESS...i'll do it :P
I cant really figure out the 'tick'; i know that it's in flexing my abs, back & glutes (although i'm trying to do it with my legs straight)
But i just can't...put my finger on it while upside down lol
Best of luck yo

My god aren't you fiesty lol ? that or the capoeira i play is so low-low on the contact part....
Thanks for the advice; i can see what you mean, it's like when i was doing the hand & hand stand (i think it's called tresapointe).
I'm also working on building my core & upper muscles, for a different purpose, but i think that'll help a lot
Thanks again :D
