remarkable touch and texture. any player can have a share of musicality but this is where one is distinct, in his own personality. there's more to musicality than mere 'heart', one must dig deep into the piece's background. very rare nowadays to find a performance with such character.
A really fine performance with many lovely touches, but it does sound almost as if Zak is playing a glass harmonica! Is this a feature of the source, or has the YouTube compression taken its toll? (The Chopin sonata performance - also excellent - does not have the same sound character).
The masquerades waltz. the water used like roads with three story tall, tan buildings crowding together keeping you close to your partner. Thats what comes to my mind. It's beautiful.

@Fabiocalaitaly No he wasn't. He was Valentina's teacher's (who ever that might have been) teacher. :-)

Яков Зак, бесспорно, один из сильнейших шопенистов мира за всю историю звукозаписи.
Мечтаю услышать что-нибудь еще из мелких пьес в его исполнении :)

I luv this piece. If you like Chopin, check out waltz in e minor. I played it a few years ago and it always gets good reviews.

Si on me disait que--chose impossible-- c'est Chopin lui-même qui est au piano,là,je pourrais le croire.C'est incroyable,un tel rubato.
