Ricky Rubio.....i dub thee....."spanish chocolate". he might not like it, just like Jason Williams didn't being called 'white chocolate", but it's what's gonna happen....just get used to it.
@taijutsu95 That's so wrong. You're calling him Kyle Korver because of his skin color. Just wrong. His game is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than Korver's. Better or worse has nothing to do with it. They have very different games.
@Chicolinx dont ever disrespect pistol pete like that pistol was one of a kind can create havon on the floor pure scorrer with amazing passing abilities this guy sucks
@yugization That's such BS! The NBA has a limit on what you can pay draft picks. You make it sound like the Wolves low-balled him. The Wolves would have given the kid 10 million if they could have.
@miamigreyhound He's a skilled point guard. Pistol Pete is beyond his wildest dreams. He'll be lucky if he has a Jason Williams-like career. He looks slow sometimes though. But he's definitely studied the great Americans, from Jerry West and the Big O forward.

In the NBA... who knows, he'll fail or he'l succeed, but he won't be "just one more", he's never one more, he's always been different from all the rest.
i likeit but i dnt think it'll happen,i mean if u trade 4 t-mac then rubio wnt hav any rest becuz no1 will take his place nd the only one they can replace him with is t-mac.But i wuld trade duhon and curry so then we'll hav rubio d enouh cap to get 3 max playrs i mean f duhon nd curry get traded then we'll hav between 50-55 mill in salary cap
@Jumpman1989 Brandon Jennings got shut down in Europe. It didn't mean much did it? He's doing well in the NBA. Ricky Rubio will be much better than Jennings.
Hardcorex and goudz thats not true at all. Its true that Europe moves the ball around more BUT shooting in the nba is better, they play just as hard, and the game in the NBA is in a higher level. THe only teams that the european teams have been able to beat are the sucky teams in the NBA. Even the Nicks which suck, beat one of the best teams in Euruope ( Macabi Telaviv). I'm not trying to be rude or diss Europe, but i'm just saying that they dont just get there by Atletisism.
Rose has experience.....Rubio is nice...but the NBA won't fall for those tricks that he does...he plays against crappy players now...he'll be nice, but it'll take a few years
lots of euro league teams have beat nba teams or came close.. its not a huge gap of talent.. euro players move the ball more and tend to have more refined basketball skills aka shooting, passing, iq, defensive fundamentals, and they flat out play harder.. however they are inferior athleticly and in any iso situation in comparision to nba players...
You are correct, Europeans actually go to special basketball schools starting in like middle school to work on those skills you mentioned, whereas NBA players do about half the work but their athleticism allows them to dominate no matter what.
rose is nowhere near rubio in passing ability, vision, and court awareness.. but i do agree with you he will be a superstar because he can get to the rim at will and finish with contact.. this will also make defenses rotate to him and passing will be easy since someone will be wide open.. still though rubio will get more assists and steals.. also rubio will be a better leader.. rose is flat out a shy kid aka silent leader
Well, Im spanish and I agree, Ricky is overrated, he should improve a lot, but the point is the guy has 18 YEARS. Tell me what player with 18 years can play at high level like Rubio. 2-3 years playing in Europe and improving his shot and he can be great.
Brandon Jennings? just for 1 to be the most recent. Any 1 and done PG that gets drafted. Derrick Rose would of went straight to the NBA if they didn't require him to be 19.
Why not? He did very well against Team USA in the Olympics when he was SEVENTEEN! He really schooled Jason Kidd on one play. So what makes you think he couldn't do that against lesser PG's in the NBA? Hmmmm?
he is actually 18 years old, he started playing pro at the age of 14 and played the final of the olympic games at the age of 17 being the younger player to ever play in an olimpycs final.
wtf is your problem? yes, he is gonna be BETTER than Nash, with 14 years, he already played in ACB, the major spanish league, CAN YOU DO THAT YOU DUMB FUCK?
the timberwolves need to rebuild. with al jefferson and now ricky rubio, they have some players they can actually build around. rubio is a distributor-type point guard, who makes everyone he plays with better and gets people involved. sure, he's small, but i'm sure he's used to playing with people bigger than he is by now - he's been a pro since he was, what, 14? - and it's quite possible that he's still growing. even if he's not going to be the BEST PLAYER EVER, he's good to have on your team.
6'4'' maybe 5''.. but im sure he'll be atleast 6'6'' by the time he actually plays in the nba.. and its not probably.. he IS more experienced than rose.. rose has been a pro athlete for 1 year... rubio has been a pro athlete for 4years..
Your right he has been a pro athlete for 4 years, which is my point that he still isn't better then Derrick Rose who has only been a pro for 1. The kid has talent. But it's not hard to find his level of talent. A lot of people just don't have the same exposure.
I've been a fan of Ricky for a long time and I'm Spanish so believe me, it's 1'90 more or less. Although, the last "medical examination" that he had in Regal Barça said that he's 1'89, so it's really confusing lol
@u2v3e Rubio is at least 6'5". Look at Rubio vs Team USA at 30 seconds into it. He schools Jason Kidd. But look at the height of the 2 of them. Kidd is 6'4" and Rubio is taller than he is.
i think it will be a few years before he has any real impact in the nba(if at all), he does have some steve nash like handles... keep in mind anthony parker won mvp 2 strait years in this league, so competition isn't the same level
he is overrated. he's playing against skilled ompetition, but he won't be able to measure up to the athleticism in the NBA. his pointless wrap and behind the back between the legs passes won't work. Patty Mills is better.
i dont know how people can compare him with players like chris paul or deron williams.. please, he cant buy alcoholik drinks in US!! he's just a fucking kid and I would like to see chris paul or deron with 18 playing like him on a competition like the spanish league, and playing without scare an Olympic final with just 18 years! he will be so big on the NBA, give him three years to develop and he will be one of the greatest
en serio?..... kobe, chris paul, kg, bruce bowen, shawn marion, tim duncan, ben wallace rasheed wallace, lamar odom, carlos boozer, dwayne wade, ron artest, stephan jackson, chris anderson, ... etc
It's hard to judge considering he is surrounded with European talent, which is not really comparable to the talent in the NBA. I don't think he will come close to CP3 or deron williams, nash or parker it seems.
one thing ppl in the NBA can learn from this kid is his teamwork ehtics. at 0:53m, he could have went in for the layup but he gave it to his teammate. he works with the team and he is able to balance being able to pass the ball and make assists but also be able to drive that ball in.
The matter is not if they are better now, it is if they were better at 17-18 years old. And BTW, if you need to be better than those two players before landing in the NBA there would be a league with less than 30 players... cause they are both of them in the top 30 for sure, maybe even in the top 20 or top 10.
Yeah I think he will do very well in the NBA from the start because he's already been playing pro ball for years in the 2nd best league in the world. Very crafty and unselfish I'm impressed.
very skilled, very crafty. I can't wait to see him in the league. I don't have too high of expectations for him mostly because Euro defenses are frankly awful, and they use the highschool 3-point line, but he is a very good player. we'll see what he can do
Ricky Rubio.....i dub thee....."spanish chocolate". he might not like it, just like Jason Williams didn't being called 'white chocolate", but it's what's gonna happen....just get used to it.

i dont know how people can compare him with players like chris paul or deron williams.. please, he cant buy alcoholik drinks in US!! he's just a fucking kid and I would like to see chris paul or deron with 18 playing like him on a competition like the spanish league, and playing without scare an Olympic final with just 18 years! he will be so big on the NBA, give him three years to develop and he will be one of the greatest

en serio?..... kobe, chris paul, kg, bruce bowen, shawn marion, tim duncan, ben wallace rasheed wallace, lamar odom, carlos boozer, dwayne wade, ron artest, stephan jackson, chris anderson, ... etc

He has only a chance in the NBA if he tries to have a playing style like steve nash - thats about it!
BosnAce 2 years ago
It's hard to judge considering he is surrounded with European talent, which is not really comparable to the talent in the NBA. I don't think he will come close to CP3 or deron williams, nash or parker it seems.
akali34 2 years ago
Its not comparable to the NBA of course, but how about the college level like all of the other players?

lol he misses lay-up at 0:50
Carnyride79 2 years ago
Lol, look to the ref... it was an obvious foult... that souldn't be considered as a missed layout... even if I agree scoring is not his main skill...
segundorodriguez 2 years ago
you're right he was fouled..i didn't notice that before. I think the shot still could have been made though

1:36 cleanest baseline moves I seen in a while..

one thing ppl in the NBA can learn from this kid is his teamwork ehtics. at 0:53m, he could have went in for the layup but he gave it to his teammate. he works with the team and he is able to balance being able to pass the ball and make assists but also be able to drive that ball in.
elie5252 2 years ago
Well in that case, he will never be better than Chris Paul or Deron Williams.
NutsInGuts 2 years ago
He has the skills to do something great, but it depends on what team he gets drafted to.

He's good but don't think he is going to dominate in the NBA.
Chris Paul and Deron Williams are better.
NutsInGuts 2 years ago
The matter is not if they are better now, it is if they were better at 17-18 years old. And BTW, if you need to be better than those two players before landing in the NBA there would be a league with less than 30 players... cause they are both of them in the top 30 for sure, maybe even in the top 20 or top 10.

Ricky Rubio is playing with professionals since he was 14 years old in ACB.
Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden are playing with amaterurs in NCAA.
This is the big difference.
dosantosbojan 2 years ago 2
Yeah I think he will do very well in the NBA from the start because he's already been playing pro ball for years in the 2nd best league in the world. Very crafty and unselfish I'm impressed.
badger2212 2 years ago
very skilled, very crafty. I can't wait to see him in the league. I don't have too high of expectations for him mostly because Euro defenses are frankly awful, and they use the highschool 3-point line, but he is a very good player. we'll see what he can do
