For a Made-for-TV movie it was very well done but they changed many things compared to the book and many scenes (esp. places) were just copied from Lord of Illusions (1995). Ron Perlman was definitely the most impressive - evil characters are his Best!. Steve Weber, Kelly Overton, Shane Haboucha did a great job too

i dont know why everybody bitches how bad this movie was. i rented it and thought it was great, it wasnt too far off of the book. a movie is never as good as a book because getting thru a book is about a 15 20 hr experience, a movie is only two hrs at best.

The movie was pretty mediocre. Unfortunately most movies based on stephen king's novels are either hits or misses, this is a miss. I couldn't say I was surprised at the bad quality of this movie, as soon as I saw the Lionsgate logo I knew I was in for a bad treat. Anyways I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, read the book instead.

I don't think you can put the horror that Steven King writes onto film. The book is excellent, real 'can't put it down' stuff. This movie looks like cliched Hollywood shit.

Desperation is pretty much one of my favorite Stephen King novels of all time. I really do want to watch the movie, though I have to say, who they chose for Mary, Steve, and Cynthia is really not how I imagined them. Not to knock the actors and actresses who play them or anything, but the way Mary and Steve were described in the book made them seem quite a bit different more actractive in my mind. Either way, I can work around all that. I still very much want to see this movie!

Read this book a few times, and The Regulators. Both are fantastic. I never knew they made a move of Desperation until i stumbled on this page. Guess what i am now off to order from Amazon !!.
