I for one am a huge fan of the Hardy's...but I do belive that overall Jeff is the better Hardy. Matt is an incredible person and has a very large fanbase, but I think it would be a risky move making him champion. I have rooted for him in MITB matches and things like that...but then I think....what could he do as champion? I mean, we would have to see,he may surprise us. But from what I've seen....he's not champion material. But I'm still a big fan =)

You can never say a wrestler is not main event material by judging the way his body looks, Spinnernet this might be one of the only time i disagree with you, but i do think that Matt could be a potential world champ if he gets the same build-up that he got in 2005 and somewhat in late 2008.

I'm not a Jeff Hardy fan at all and never was, but I can admit that for whatever reason lots of fans are drawn to him, and he does have a genuine emotional connection with his fans. He was probably one of the few real over babyfaces along the lines of an Eddie Guerrero, where they just loved him. Matt Hardy doesn't and never had that. Like you, I was a fan of Matt in '03 during his run as the heel CW champ, but I never saw him as a Wrestlemania main eventer of WH champion

Matt has been looking better in the ring recently, both in apperence (he's losing weight) and performence (hitting moonsaults again) i acttualy like his attire and mic work. After survivoir series he should challenge for the WHC at the TLC ppv.
A wrestler is as good as how well he is presented, if WWE can make douchebags like Cena & Shitista look credible then Matt would certainly rise to the occasion if WWE does him some justice.

WWE just didn't do a good job presenting Matt Hardy, WWE just drops the ball on so many wrestlers that have what it takes to be the best. If Matt was to become a main eventer then he should be feuding with CM Punk, they would fight over Jeff, Punk would say his brothers a druggy and that would be a good feud.
Its the Creative Team who's not giving him proper momentum and are constantly messing around with him, from the ECW Title, to the Feud with Jeff and then all of a sudden of a nice heel run they switch him back to what he was doing after the Edge/Lita ordeal, that plain Midcarder guy. I don't think Matt Hardy is boring at all. He has this generic ass move-set with Bulldogs and clotheslines and elbows and I'm still entertained by his matches.

And it is not only the IT factor it is about politics as well for example Christian has a huge fanbase and crowd reaction and WWE is making a fool out of him. Ted Di Biase and Cody Rhodes are pushed to the main event as they are mediocre wrestlers and personas.
Personally, I am a Matt Hardy fan. He's dedicated, carries himself professionally, represents the company well, and he is a good worker. I thought he was a good ECW champion and still has the ability to be a great US Champion or IC Chamption. Granted, injuries have slowed him down and he's not 25 anymore. I could definatly see him doing what Kane has done and be a jobber for main eventers. But I do agree that him losing to Eric Escobar was ridiculous.

It is true about the selling tickets thing. Many of the fans are teenagers, often times girls, who buy these tickets to see these guys. Jeff Hardy is more of a flashy, somewhat showy, but that is because of the risks he takes. Matt, granted has skill, but he just does not exude the showmanship and fan drawing attributes of Jeff Hardy and others. He could have the potential to be more of a U.S champion or Intercontinental Champion.
Agreed. Matt is pretty much average in everything he does. Good enough not to be future endeavored, but not good enough to go anything beyond midcard.

The in ring skills, the mic skills, he is very over with the fans (way more than Matt Hardy) and has proven time and time again he is more than capable of being a main guy.
i have to disagree, up until his recent fued with jeff, matt has gotten excellent crowd pop from the crowd. he was dubbed by matt striker "arguably everyones favorite wrestler" for his stint on ecw. and the whole look thing, it sucks now, but i personally thought his whole hardy boyz attire and later the v1 thing were awesome. matt hardy should at least be world heavyweight champion, considering the competition on smackdown, and edge is terrible all around, no effence to any edgeheads
I think that Matt Hardy could be main event material with the right storylines and gimmick. I was never personally in to Matt Hardy, however I did find his arrogant comical heel V1 gimmick entertaining and thought that they could have taken him further with that gimmick. Right now he seems dull and a little bloated with no real depth to his character except being the brother of Jeff Hardy. Give Matt Hardy something different and perhaps he might begin to stand out and shine.

Hey Spinn...I've been watching wrestling for about 30 years now...I can tell you that that it is all about the story. Regardless of weather you like Matt Hardy, or John Cena or Bret Heart or any of them... The E can make almost anyone a main eventer if they have the right story and the right amount of hype.

Matt Hardy is most definitely NOT champion material. He has all the charisma of a paper towel. As if his career doesn't speak for itself, the best example of his poor acting skills/charisma is the BOTCHED storyline between him and his brother. That feud could've been GREAT. Could've made for a great blood feud, the jealous brother finally snaps, etc. Had this motherfucker had ONE ounce of acting ability, his such a thing could be measured in ounces, of all units, WWE would've had a great story.

yeah i'd agree with u spin, i've always been a big matt fan but he just dosen't have the 'it' factor that jeff has. although i can definately see why people think matt deserves a title run, him and jeff were equal for so long that people think of matt the same way they do as jeff.
jeff hardy is really exciting. he's an awesome high flyer. and even though i think the hardy's dont have the best mic skills, jeff has better skills. the wwe also seems to make matt hardy like he's always being beat up. thats just my opinion, but jeff is better.
The way I see it is Matt has what it takes, however he just doesn't always deliver the same intensity to all of his feuds, we've seen Matt at his best against people like Edge and MVP, and also at his worst. I also do not think Matt has what it takes to be a main event heel, this is just coming off what I have seen this year though, which is probably not the best stuff to use, but yea I think Matt is just a natural face, even though his V1 stuff was good, hes a face.

Whenever I would hear people say that Matt Hardy would be the Hardy Boy who would go on to do something I was always so confused. I think he suffers of Christian sendrom. He really needed to go to TNA for a few years to hone his craft, but he decided to stay in wwe and now he's where he is.
I'm not into Matt Hardy like that, I actually think Jeff Hardy has alot to do with why Matt isn't big. Jeff always over shadow Matt and he always will. People will always compare them and when they do Jeff wins. It's always that one break out star in the tag teams and that's Jeff.

Like Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker, HBK, Angle, Sting, and etc. The only guys who have potential to be main eventers in my opinion are Christian, Jack Swagger, John morrison, Ted Diabeise, maybe Drew mcintrye. I haven't made up my mind yet about Mcintrye.

i agree with you spinner i never saw matt hardy get a huge pop from the fans like a real main eventer. I also never saw matt hardy show alot of charisma in the ring. (which i think is what made up for Jeff Hardy's lack of charisma outside of the ring). Sure his mic skills aren't bad but he just isn't a crowd drawer (if that's a word). I think the biggest thing that keeps Matt back is that he will always be in the shadow of Jeff.

I don't see IT in either Hardy but that's just my opinion. I think Jeff is an overrated wrestler and his mic work is really poor, his feud with Punk proved that. People just enjoy diffirent things, I enjoy watching ECW every week, because its got fresh faces on there, not the same old HHH & Cena every week, and Regal is a very credible contender for the title, more so than Kozlov, the new superstar thing is working out ok, we got some good talent and gimmicks from it, Sheamus, Ryder, Yoshi & in terms of the ECW title having prestige, there have been really enjoyable title matches since Christian became champ, with Dreamer, Ryder & Regal. Watch it more
In terms of the "general" wrestling fans, smarks are 8-15% of the wrestling community, the other 85 to 92% of wrestling fans are the ones who decide if angle X or angle Y gets over. So, while fans may sometimes "get those awards wrong" it is a fairly strong barometer.
Spin, i think alot of the time your opinions are atleast somewhat on point. However, I have a major issue with what you just said.. You first went off on how Matt Hardy doesnt sell tickets or increase buy rates, and, while I do somewhat agree there, you completely contradict yourself. Stating first that Matt Hardy isnt as large/strong a draw as many think, then stating that, while yes, Matt won some PWI awards, the fans get it wrong.
i love matt hardy but i have to agree he just doesnt have the "IT Factor" to be a main eventer. he's only considered marketable if he's with jeff as the hardy boyz. sadly he's the "jannetty" of the group.

Ok second off; I agree that having the "skills" isn't all it takes to be a world champion; you have to be over. I went to the Smackdown taping last week and in my opinion, Hardy got the pop of the night. Now I understand trying to push Escobar but there is no reason to job a guy who gets the pop of the night to a rookie, unless the promotion simply doesn't care how over someone happens to be.
This might take two comments, but here it goes. First of all the feud with Jeff was failed from the get go because the fans were already convinced that Christian did the attacks and also a feud goes both ways. You can't solely blame Matt for the feud being unbelivable, Jeff is just as much to blame.
Midcarders and veterans getting jobbed out to newcomers is a direct result of an oversaturation of talent in WWE. So many wrestlers who have great potential are signed with only one angle in mind (like Cryme Tyme or Duce & Domino). They get a brief push, a US or IC title reign, MAYBE an ECW title reign, and then they step down so that other newcomers can do the same damn thing.
Meanwhile, the main event stays the same. It's a never-ending cycle.
I think Matt Hardy would have been World Champ by now or really close to it if he stayed with the heel gimmick. He got alot of heat for costing Jeff the title and that heat could have been the push he needed.

Also I he gets way more of a pop and has more personality than Great Khali, but they gave him 2 title runs. And Rey and Khali had short title reigns. Eddie was supposed to win the title but due to his death, Rey had to substitute for him. Khali... well, he had a crappy reign and WWE kept it short

Rey, he most likely got it because of Eddie. you saw they way WWE exploited Eddie's death. that was a sympathy title run.
Khali got it because the Smackdown roster was depleted because of injuries to 'Taker and Edge. for some reason, they didn't want to just give it to Batista, who was still healthy.

I'm not a Jeff Hardy fan at all and never was, but I can admit that for whatever reason lots of fans are drawn to him, and he does have a genuine emotional connection with his fans. He was probably one of the few real over babyfaces along the lines of an Eddie Guerrero, where they just loved him. Matt Hardy doesn't and never had that. Like you, I was a fan of Matt in '03 during his run as the heel CW champ, but I never saw him as a Wrestlemania main eventer of WH champion

I've been wondering this too.
Matt's been with the WWE for what? close to 15 years or so. And he's never had a WWE title run.
However they might think he's too old.
He's VERY underated
You'd think that he'd have paid his dues by now, and that the WWE would notice that the fans are behind him.
I reckon he should get a little run, just to test the waters.
WWE will have to wait a while if they (however unlikely) DO push Matt to the main event. With Jeff still fresh in our minds and all.

Its the Creative Team who's not giving him proper momentum and are constantly messing around with him, from the ECW Title, to the Feud with Jeff and then all of a sudden of a nice heel run they switch him back to what he was doing after the Edge/Lita ordeal, that plain Midcarder guy. I agree on Matt Hardy not being world champion material but not having him on Team Smackdown and having him lose to a spanish-boy-toy gimmick guy is sad to see.
And it is not only the IT factor it is about politics as well for example Christian has a huge fanbase and crowd reaction and WWE is making a fool out of him. Ted Di Biase and Cody Rhodes are pushed to the main event as they are mediocre wrestlers and personas.

Personally, I am a Matt Hardy fan. He's dedicated, carries himself professionally, represents the company well, and he is a good worker. I thought he was a good ECW champion and still has the ability to be a great US Champion or IC Chamption. Granted, injuries have slowed him down and he's not 25 anymore. I could definatly see him doing what Kane has done and be a jobber for main eventers. But I do agree that him losing to Eric Escobar was ridiculous.

It is true about the selling tickets thing. Many of the fans are teenagers, often times girls, who buy these tickets to see these guys. Jeff Hardy is more of a flashy, somewhat showy, but that is because of the risks he takes. Matt, granted has skill, but he just does not exude the showmanship and fan drawing attributes of Jeff Hardy and others. He could have the potential to be more of a U.S champion or Intercontinental Champion.

I cannot think of anybody who deserves to be a main guy in the WWE and champion as much as Christian. He has everything needed. The in ring skills, the mic skills, he is very over with the fans (way more than Matt Hardy) and has proven time and time again he is more than capable of being a main guy.

i have to disagree, up until his recent fued with jeff, matt has gotten excellent crowd pop from the crowd. he was dubbed by matt striker "arguably everyones favorite wrestler" for his stint on ecw. and the whole look thing, it sucks now, but i personally thought his whole hardy boyz attire and later the v1 thing were awesome. matt hardy should at least be world heavyweight champion, considering the competition on smackdown, and edge is terrible all around, no effence to any edgeheads

I think that Matt Hardy could be main event material with the right storylines and gimmick. I was never personally in to Matt Hardy, however I did find his arrogant comical heel V1 gimmick entertaining and thought that they could have taken him further with that gimmick. Right now he seems dull and a little bloated with no real depth to his character except being the brother of Jeff Hardy. Give Matt Hardy something different and perhaps he might begin to stand out and shine.

Matt Hardy is most definitely NOT champion material. He has all the charisma of a paper towel. As if his career doesn't speak for itself, the best example of his poor acting skills/charisma is the BOTCHED storyline between him and his brother. That feud could've been GREAT. Could've made for a great blood feud, the jealous brother finally snaps, etc. Had this motherfucker had ONE ounce of acting ability, his such a thing could be measured in ounces, of all units, WWE would've had a great story.

The way I see it is Matt has what it takes, however he just doesn't always deliver the same intensity to all of his feuds, we've seen Matt at his best against people like Edge and MVP, and also at his worst. I also do not think Matt has what it takes to be a main event heel, this is just coming off what I have seen this year though, which is probably not the best stuff to use, but yea I think Matt is just a natural face, even though his V1 stuff was good, hes a face.

I completely agree with you about Matt Hardy but I also think Jeff Hardy is very overrated. And I don't think he'll go down as one of the all time greats. Like Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker, HBK, Angle, Sting, and etc. The only guys who have potential to be main eventers in my opinion are Christian, Jack Swagger, John morrison, Ted Diabeise, maybe Drew mcintrye. I haven't made up my mind yet about Mcintrye.

Of course, RVD, Kane, Chris Benoit, Ect. all seemed to be on that road, and they were given the Big one once. So I still think he deserves one time with the belt. Jeff is not the best wrestler,but he is no doubt creditable,and i do feel that RAW really could use him. Even Kozlov, a guy who has a clean win over the Undertaker, Ecw has buried itself and everyone in it. the whole new superstar thing isnt working, compare all the new guys in ECW to the 2 new guys in SD. Im not bashing Christian i like him, but his title has no prestige

People just enjoy diffirent things, I enjoy watching ECW every week, because its got fresh faces on there, not the same old HHH & Cena every week, and Regal is a very credible contender for the title, more so than Kozlov, the new superstar thing is working out ok, we got some good talent and gimmicks from it, Sheamus, Ryder, Yoshi & in terms of the ECW title having prestige, there have been really enjoyable title matches since Christian became champ, with Dreamer, Ryder & Regal. Watch it more

In terms of the "general" wrestling fans, smarks are 8-15% of the wrestling community, the other 85 to 92% of wrestling fans are the ones who decide if angle X or angle Y gets over. So, while fans may sometimes "get those awards wrong" it is a fairly strong barometer.

Spin, i think alot of the time your opinions are atleast somewhat on point. However, I have a major issue with what you just said.. You first went off on how Matt Hardy doesnt sell tickets or increase buy rates, and, while I do somewhat agree there, you completely contradict yourself. Stating first that Matt Hardy isnt as large/strong a draw as many think, then stating that, while yes, Matt won some PWI awards, the fans get it wrong.

i love matt hardy but i have to agree he just doesnt have the "IT Factor" to be a main eventer. he's only considered marketable if he's with jeff as the hardy boyz. sadly he's the "jannetty" of the group.

very good video. Matt does NOT have the "it" factor, and at this stage of his career i don't think he ever will. his ECW title reign was forgettable, and he doesn't bring a passionate personal side to the fold. the total Matt package screams mid-card, i agree. i doubt he'll even see another solo title in the next few years, if ever again.

Ok second off; I agree that having the "skills" isn't all it takes to be a world champion; you have to be over. I went to the Smackdown taping last week and in my opinion, Hardy got the pop of the night. Now I understand trying to push Escobar but there is no reason to job a guy who gets the pop of the night to a rookie, unless the promotion simply doesn't care how over someone happens to be.

This might take two comments, but here it goes. First of all the feud with Jeff was failed from the get go because the fans were already convinced that Christian did the attacks and also a feud goes both ways. You can't solely blame Matt for the feud being unbelivable, Jeff is just as much to blame.

Midcarders and veterans getting jobbed out to newcomers is a direct result of an oversaturation of talent in WWE. So many wrestlers who have great potential are signed with only one angle in mind (like Cryme Tyme or Duce & Domino). They get a brief push, a US or IC title reign, MAYBE an ECW title reign, and then they step down so that other newcomers can do the same damn thing.
Meanwhile, the main event stays the same. It's a never-ending cycle.

I think Matt Hardy would have been World Champ by now or really close to it if he stayed with the heel gimmick. He got alot of heat for costing Jeff the title and that heat could have been the push he needed.

here's my personal opinion about matt - he looks like my dad...he has no look of a champion...his stomach is popping out he has fat on his arms, he looks like a financial advisor not even a lower midcarder...the reason jeff made it is because he was a risktaker but i've never even seen matt on the top rope...

I have to disagree with you spinnernet. As far as the look is concerned do people like rey mysterio, JBL and Great Khali look like champions? Also I he gets way more of a pop and has more personality than Great Khali, but they gave him 2 title runs. Matt Hardy just has never been given a good gimmick, unlike Cena with his rapper to marine gimmick or Jeff with his pot head rock star gimmick.

And Rey and Khali had short title reigns. Eddie was supposed to win the title but due to his death, Rey had to substitute for him. Khali... well, he had a crappy reign and WWE kept it short

you have to look at the strange circumstances as to why those guys became champion.
to this day, people are still clueless about the JBL title reign, so let's move on.
Rey, he most likely got it because of Eddie. you saw they way WWE exploited Eddie's death. that was a sympathy title run.
Khali got it because the Smackdown roster was depleted because of injuries to 'Taker and Edge. for some reason, they didn't want to just give it to Batista, who was still healthy.
