Well, I'm not a tech, and that's why I got the warranty for the extended period. I saw seen the same problem on another compaq for free use in a hotel. The screen develops a large line which seems to get bigger the longer you leave it. I'm honestly so dissapointed in HP as a company. Very slack service on top of a crap machine.
Worst product I ever bought with either none or incompetent service even within the warranty period. BEWARE.
I have had the mother board replaced on warranty. I have had 3, yes 3 screens replaced on mine and all this within a 5 month period. Please don't tell me it's my handling of the computer. It's never been dropped and virtually always used at home. You can fry an egg on it it gets so hot. There are either inferior parts within the unit or it's simply a poor model.
@darkside9129 3 screen replacements is excessive, what was the reason for that? Normally it's the chipset or video chip, if applicable. Never quite tracked it down but it seems to be a combination of poor cooling design and a very flimsy chassis. The new machines are better (and a LOT heavier!) but I'm starting to see some newer HP DV6 laptops with the same issues. Will they never learn?
