But sometimes he sounds Lower East Side. Where did Stanley come from? When Treat Williams did Stanley on TV he actually had a southern accent.

Like Fletcher Christian, Christian Diestl, Harrison Carter MacWhite, William Walker in Mutiny on the Bounty, Young Lions, Ugly American, and Burn! respectively. Major Penderton in Reflections in a Golden Eye was an exception. He used Tennessee Williams mush-mouthed southern accent for the part.
