  • This is perfect this the 1st song I ever dance to in a New York Night Club,,,,,STUDIO 54 ! thanks for letting me remember the good times !

    peace.

  • First heard this track spun by Tony Humphries, he mixed it into a hot 97 house session at 4 a.m back in 1992 and I was blown away! has to be the best Disco track ever created in my opinion.

  • this my joint!!! i just cant understand where in the hell she come from sayin lets find a place thats safe thats far awy with no blacks no jews or gay's???? its like groovy nazi house music!!!

  • MY SONG!

  • @FredinandBardamu A movie done well, would be great.Sylvester had many facets.

Search for this in youtube -> Unsung (Documentary) - Sylvester There is a show on tvone about unsug artist. The featured Sylvester in season 3.

  • Growing up in NYC during 70's...The Clubs were the best and when this song came on everyone went wild!!! I just love hearing this song in my Zune. While walking the dogs you just gotta stop and boogie for a moment in hopes that no one looks at you funny.

  • Luv the Sylvester video!....perfect for this.....

Sylvester was a genius.....I am not ashamed to say I wept when she died

When in Boston she used to hang at this club called "The Haymarket"...the queens went wild! Most young folk don't know of her. Which is a shame

It's clear you know what's up! whoever you are this killed me....thank you...

  • @FredinandBardamu I wish I could have found better quality video of Sylvester. I'm glad you enjoyed the Vid. ;)

  • @FredinandBardamu i love sylvester too... she was amazing. wish i had a chnce to meet her. whenever my day is too long or too hard and i don't have the energy to go on.... i turn to sylvester's music and all is better.

  • I did'nt realise that this tune had a moral issue. Loved it from the moment I heard it...Long live 70s/80s disco

  • August Darnell is so influential to me. The lyrics are pure social realism. The godfather of mutant disco.

  • So many fond memories brought back from a year of my prime: 1979. This was one disco hit that I preferred not to get out on the disco dance floor to: it was difficult to dance to, but a classic to listen to. It's a '70s parable that still has so much meaning today. We really haven't advanced as a society since the late '70s in regard to the many social ills that this disco tune had the valor to address.

  • Hot damn! This song makes me wet!

  • the soundtrack to summer of sam has this song on it. it was a film by spike lee. i searched for more than 10 years for this song on cd, finally it was used in that movie and i could purchase it, thank you spike lee!

  • @jfk71589

  • One of the great ones. A killer!

  • at 2:40 minutes there is a couple dancing DISCO to their best. I love it.....!

  • Do you happen to have the Radio version. It was a rare version where the lyrics were changed from "Somewhere far away, with no blacks, no jews & no gays" to "Somewhere far away, where only upper class people stay".

  • @EmotionRadio I have not heard the alternative lyrics

  • @EmotionRadio

I have been searching for the clean version for about a year now....can't find it anywhere. This song has a great beat for fitness class (if you speed it up), but can't/won't play the orignal version. I'll keep looking...has to be somewhere!

  • @ogunquitpasture the soundtrack to the Spike Lee Movie summer of sam has this song on it.
